I was diagnosed with hiatal hernia last year after seeing numerous specialists (to include cardiologist & neurologist) for heart palpitations, constant nausea, vasovagal syncope and a host of other symptoms. Not one doctor (even the gastro) put together that the hernia was causing all of it... now i know when I'm experiencing symptoms it's hernia related and it's changed my life

Great information. I have a hiatal hernia which was diagnosed after I noticed my stomach becoming increasingly distended and hard a in pregnancy. Before this developed I had spontaneous electrocution like pain in my back through lumbar to thoracic. The pain along with my posture worsened over the ensuing months till finally I had my first MRI. It showed 7 vertebral compression fractures up & down my spine lumbar to thoracic. I was diagnosed with severe osteoporosis as well. I’m now permanently hunched over. The kyphosis happened sometime early 2022. No spine surgeon will do the corrective surgery to fix my spine nor has any of the orthopedic spine specialists made any connection between my injured, now permanently deformed spine and the hiatal hernia which I carry like a bowling ball protruding out from under my breasts. I’ve treated with two different style chiropractors for approx 6 months each. Neither ever addressed the connection between my spinal injuries and the hiatal hernia complaints I had in hopes that either may be able to help me. So if you’re seeing my post, I’m on Long Island, NY. any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Would a hiatal hernia cause spasms near the xiphoid process during speech? I can sing and make loud noises for instance, however, ever since I was sick with gastro at the end of 2022, I started having spasms and my regular speech became weak and I felt out of breath and couldn't complete a sentence since then. Upper GI Barium tests in Quebec, Canada are no longer provided and my work stopped paying me 'cause I informed them that on top of being depressed I'm unable to hold a regular conversation over the phone and get tired from forcing my diaphragm in order to complete a sentence. Yes I consume alcohol and so does my sibling but he doesn't have any of these symptoms. I prolly had a bad posture when I started working from home as of 2020, and sitting on a regular chair.

  • @XavierP333
    @XavierP333 Рік тому +7

These symptoms can also link to low stomach acid and/or PH imbalance of the stomach.
    Get tested and find out,
    1) endoscopy
    2) esophageal manometry test
    3) barium x ray test
don't assume you have a Hiatal hernia.
High levels of stress can cause gastritis by decreasing stomach acid.
High levels of cortisol and stress loosens up the LES muscle causing acid reflux.

Important question. Would/could a splenectomy cause a hiatal hernia? I had my spleen removed in 2012. Started having many stomach problems. I was told I had Gastroparesis. I had to eat some radioactive stuff and had X-rays done every hour for like 4 or 5 hours… and had an endoscopy. But was told it was Gastroparesis. Had an endoscopy done in 2021 and was told I did not have Gastroparesis. 🤷‍♀️ Last week I had another endoscopy and was told I had a hiatal hernia. I don’t know what’s wrong with me. Tired of different answers.

It felt like water was going somewhere it wasn't supposed to go, and coughing while eating. It's been over two yrs, and it still wakeup with a sore throat every day. I used to be able to hack up a ball of phlegm, now it gets lost in there somewhere,

I suspect that I have this. I had extreme diarrhea one day leaving me with GERD symptoms. I suspect the pressure is what caused it. My previous CT scan, endoscopy & colonoscopy show nothing but I want more tests. It’s crazy bc now that my reflux has gotten worse I had neck pain & my arms & legs were tingling & everything. I need to see a chiropractor forget these meds.

    • @Synergywellnessny

Glad you had a negative colonoscopy ruling out IBD. Endoscopy are often negative with small hiatal hernias.

    • @XavierP333
      @XavierP333 Рік тому

      You should get:
      1) barium x ray test
      2) esophageal manometry
The barium x ray test will show your stomach anatomy after ingestion of barium fluid. If there's no obstruction of the stomach above your diaphragm, then it shouldn't be considered a hiatal hernia
The esophageal manometry test measures all landmarks of your esophagus, if there's a hiatal hernia, it will be considered an irregular reading, it will also read if your sphincter has normal pressure, measurements etc. If there's an irregular pressure, measurements on the sphincter, the esophageal manometry test will definitely pick it up.
An upper GI endoscopy usually makes confusing.
I got my first endoscopy done on October 2021 due to reflux and GERD
The wacko gastroenterologist stated he found a "small hiatal hernia"
Yet he didn't provide a photo of the lower part of my esophagus.
Mind you, this gastroenterologist has very bad reviews on his webMD, he didn't recognized an ulcer inside a patient, ending up puncturing it. Resulting the patient to Internally bleed
He also ruptured a woman's colon while doing a colonoscopy on her patient. He's always late, etc..
So I'm not relying on his "findings"
I got three tests on 2022:
I got an x ray barium test
      Esophageal manometry test
New endoscopy at a different location by another gastro Dr.
All these three new states proved I do NOT have a Hiatal hernia.
I get reflux due to stress, I'm a single Dad of two autistic kids

I’m almost certain I have this after experiencing shortness of breath that asthma meds wouldn’t contain. This all makes sense. Chest pain, burping, loss of appetite. My doc put me on Prilosec (todays the 4th day). I don’t want to be on this long term. I’ve also consulted with a chiro who has some experience treating this. How long can it take to heal this? For reference, I’m skinny! 127 pounds at 5’ 5”. My symptoms started a couple weeks ago. Everything had been ruled out as far as enemia, Covid, pneumonia. All blood tests and scans are normal, I just can’t breathe normally. I also don’t smoke or drink. I’m just so frustrated this has happened to me and I’m praying for relief.

So interesting! Just got the diagnosis of a HH in mid August and the doc had to do a balloon procedure to open my esophagus but wants to do it again in January. He put me on Omeprazole 40mg - 90 day supply with a refill. I looked up the side effects and I’m not sure I want to take them. I’m 114 pounds and 73 yo. Feels like a brick in my gut after even a small meal. Sure would like to know if there is someone in Flower Mound, Texas (north of Dallas). You’ve opened my eyes to a better option to heal.

I had three punctures in my esophagus that were made during an ACDF. I had a feeding tube for almost a year with no food or drink by mouth. Where the tube went in is where I have pain. I know I have a hiatal hernia. Could a feeding tube cause that or be related?

Sorry your dealing with this. I pray you heal quickly. No i don’t think the hiatal hernia would be caused by feeding tube. Now the hiatal hernia can cause acid reflux which can cause discomfort where a feeding tube would go. If you don’t have GERD or acid reflux then I would try something like cold laser over the puncture point that is painful and see if laser can speed up the healing time .

Hello, good morning my name is Khaylor and I just found out a couple years ago around 2018-2019 or so I have a hiatial hernia from getting a CAT scan or PET. I would complain a lot about chest pain shooting, stabbing, pressure, etc that's what made them do the CAT or PET scan. I would/ still am suffering from anxiety and very bad chest pain the same thing shooting, stabbing, sometimes burning but very rare. I do weight more than I should which is 214lbs and I am 5'11. I have done the barium and they saw a small hiatal hernia, I am in the process of scheduling a endoscopy. I am just so scared of my symptoms, because I would/ am waking up in the middle of the night with chest pain and pressure very very bad. I don't want to jump right to surgery because of this. I am still pretty young 27. I would take Myalanta for some relief, tums and my doctor just put me on Omeprazole definently don't want to take that for too long, or at all if I can help it. I would love any feedback you have? Thank you for your time.

Also ive always had acid reflux and stuff like that from what i can remember bc i live in Louisiana and our diets are terrible but anyway im 23 and just feel like it may be a hiatal hernia under my skin if thats even possible but also feel like its the fake ribs idk please give me your opinion you seem to deal with lots of cases plus like im a pretty rough guy so this could have been from a car wreck or wrestling/fighting with people just to take that in to account. There is nothing on my stomach or rib area that looks broken or nothing bulging out or in its just when i put my hand on that area kind of where the 11-12 maybe rib is something goes down and when i take my hand of or relieve pressure it comes back up its very weird and i dont like the feeling of it im about 5 7’ 135 ish pounds hard for me to get to 140 mostly my weight stays around 130 please please i know everything im saying is scattered around lol but pleaseeeee give me your opinion of what it may be and what i could possibly do. Also i do get full pretty easy maybe not everyday but somedays yes and sometimes i will force myself to eat alot bc i try to gain weight and keep weight as well and all my life ive had a swollening problem where it feels like im choking but i will literally force it down with water or by like swallowing air and push it down my throat no joke so yea man please let me know what you think and if you read this I greatly appreciate you taking your time to do so thanks!

But chiropractic is not based on any science with CONCLUSIVE results shown in research studies. It was founded by a man who said a long dead ghost came to him with it.
Further, it can be slightly helpful now and then for some back pain. However those same types of results can be gotten often by just getting the services of a good masseuse.
Note also that every year, there are cases of chiropractors causing severe, sometimes permanent damage to the spine with a couple cases over the years ending up in patients being paralyzed and there have been deaths on record that have occurred. FYI. So beware folks. Remember chiropractors are not medical doctors. Their "certifications" are not MDs nor DOs.

I disagree with your assessment of a cure. If there is a digestive accid reflux issue one must take a look at what one is eating to cause the imbalance of acid. Imbalance occurs when consumption of foods that require different strength s of the acid. Say you eat vegetables & meats together & your only producing acid for the veges, then the meat set's in the gut without proper digestion making your stomach work harder & longer. If you consume them separately then the correct strength of the acid will be delivered to break down ones food. Everything we have been taught about meals & consumption is wrong. Why do animals left on their own know what to eat. Sense organs in the nose & mouth tell them from birth what kills & what's nutrition. Horses in the wild for example that become sickly from worms know what to eat & where to find it to expell it. We need a new approach to life style to become health human beings again. Ditch the condiments for starters. Eggs are extremely bad & promote the colonization & growth of bacteria & viruses in the intestines.
