here I have a video on developer to lighten hair...I tried them all but, honestly, I didn't see much of a difference. I think it might have been because of the quantity of developer I mixed with the bleach. I always go with 1oz developer + 1oz of bleach but I always like to add a little more developer than bleach and that usually does the trick. I hope this helps in some way!

Perioxide and developer are the same thing. The 10 volume lifted the lightest and with less warmth because it was your hair line hair, which is more finer in texture. Lots of things to consider when picking a developer when bleaching hair.

so here's what happened. the hair around your hair line is finer than the hair in the back. as you go towards the back of your hair, it gets thicker and darker. it's just how the sun hits it. so basically it all came out evenly(ish) because you used a higher vol developer in the thicker, darker sections and a lower vol developer in the finer sections. where you applied the 40 vol, it had to work harder and faster than where you placed the 10 vol.
That may not be the case for her tho. My hair is finer in the back and more coarse in the front. That dude that like masters blonde hair (Zach mesquit) only uses 20 volume and I can totally see why

The heat from her scalp with a 20 vol is all anyone needs with enough time(especially fine very curly hair) if it's lifting too fast it's damaging your hair too fast 😩 the same results never happen to to different ppl 🥺

She's doing this test on the hair an inch off her scalp, The heat from her scalp will speed up the processing no matter what volume of delevoper which is another word for % of peroxide. Never, ever, EVER use 40 vol on the scalp area!! 😱
@@megsmess I've done that before with the jerome Russell ones you get from the drugstores they only do 30(9%) and 40vol (12%) safe to say my head didn't thank me lmao as my natural hair isn't jet black 9r even black more medium dark brown haha

She isn’t a hairdresser and is experimenting, developer and peroxide is the same thing as others had mentioned. The 10 she is using won’t do much on her dark hair the closer you get to the scalp the warmth of the scalp gives the developer a quicker lift. Boy what a Test! Look at that orange in different levels.

did the 30 and 40 vol not burn at your scalp?
You can totally prelighten your hair with 10 or 20vol if you plan to recolor it afterwards. I use 20vol on my level 5 hair but it’s short so I don’t bother
Can you use developer without bleach?
You can just mix it with color but it won’t be as bright

It evened out because you pre mixed everything and then took time to apply every mixture. It would probably be more accurate if you did several strand tests individually.

no it wouldn’t it’s less effective
If you want to bleach go with 20 volume. It lifts more than a 10 and it is much gentle than a 30 or 40

It's hard to tell. If you would have used foils it would have helped see a difference. The front of your head lays down closer to your head therefore it had more heat by default.
Heat plays a big part iv done 30 20 and 10 but mind u I did use blonde brilliance level 9 bleach lol 😆 but 5 10 mintues all it rook plus shower cap now I'm ready for my next color lol 😆

I have a question :) My natural hair is dark brown and i have grey hair. Right now hair cut is very short, without any dye. Later planing to go on blond. But please can you tell me if i will use 30 vol developer ones to go up in levels, should i repet one more time bleaching with 30 vol to go totally light and than dye with blond hair color? Should i bleach it and keep it for 30 min only? Scare not to damage. Roots want to bleach with 20 vol. is it ok? Thank you and will wait for respond 🌹
If your hair is dark and you want to go blonde you can use 20%or30% developer mix with powder bleach. Start with the back section and mids to end first and leave for 10-15 mins then start on the roots area. When you leave bleach to develop can can put on shower cap spray a bit of water on the inside prevent bleach from drying out. You can add olapex with your bleaching solution to help prevent hair from breaking. Then after bleaching apply hair toner.

Honestly I think the 10 volume came out cleaner with less orange hues . It could just be the lighting because it’s right in front but I think it lifted soo well .

@@mia-yf3ip True enough but for people at home bleaching their own hair they should leave the 30 and 40 alone. They work slow and the applications aren’t great. Most of them bleach over and over with the high developers anyways. Plus they use toners with high V. 😩This video wasn’t the best at showing and convincing the lay person to leave the higher V’s alone.
Foil should have been used with heat no?? It’s what my hairdresser does to lift at higher levels, and what I’m currently doing now in shutdown 😬

I think they use foil to accelerate the process. Like it's more profitable for them.

@@amareemata2792 Sorry I never got a notification for this. I hope you figured it out. I use a mix of both 20 & 30 developer to get different tones. You can use a highlighting comb to help, or weave yourself (for highlights). Use two parts developer to 1 part bleach. Apply foil under the section of hair and apply bleach mix to section of hair and cover it all with the foil. Sit under a hooded dryer. Check periodically to see at what level your hair is at. Mine is usually done within 30-40 minutes as I'm lifting from a dark brown.

It depends on what you want done… on virgin hair you start mid shaft of hair then the new growth (root) and then the ends. This is if you’re bleaching all your hair. But you must make sure you use bleach that is safe to use on scalp like cream bleach not powder. My favorite is from ION Bright White Crème Lightener.

Do not apply bleach with fingers!!
Invest in a bleach brush in order to get full thickness even coverage and not have patchy results! Good experiment to try with the same brand cream bleach products in order to get good comparison. (Not peroxide)
But so many people need to see you do not need 40 vol to go black to blonde especially on previous bleached hair, or bleaching over and over with 40vol as it will kill or turn your hair gummy then fall out.
In another video you did with toner, a lot of people do not understand that if you use more than 10vol with a toner, you are in fact coloring your hair….not toning your hair. You can use as little as 2.5vol with toners. Do not use over 10vol with toner.
There are reasons why hair stylists get paid and you are at the salon a few hours! They went to school to learn how to do this profession. Then they work in a salon learning/being taught more before they go out on their own.
People who do bleaching/coloring at home do not usually understand the color wheel or basic chemistry.
For instance if you want to see how harsh bleach is, pour some in a cup, then go outside and find a bird feather with the pointy quill on it intact. Place the feather in the bleach. Come back in 15 min and there will be NO sign of a feather. It will eat it completely away.
Unless you want to end up with gummy hair that falls completely off your head, you should use your well earned money and time to go to a salon and let the stylist make you as beautiful as you are;)
This experiment is a great idea to show people what each bleach strength does to your hair. Please use very thin sections and apply with a bleach brush in order to get even saturation!
It’s obvious as soon as the bleach is applied that you will have patchy results bc there is more bleach in one part of the hair and less in another part of the hair. I do like that you are doing this on dark hair bc so many people think bc they are dark headed they must use 40vol….and sometimes over and over in the same day or two. Then they cry when their hair falls out.
There is a good reason that going from black to blonde needs to take months unless you want very damaged hair. The hair needs a long time to recover between bleaching.

thanks for the vid🌹 but actually different volumes are not the real tricks because they only determines the tone of colors...I mean if one uses 8.00 no with 10 volume and the other one uses 8.00 no with 40 volume on identical hair types and bases under constant duration,the ultimate results differs so much even not comparable to each other.

You just gotta keep checking your hair to make sure you don't over develop and I'd say around 30/40 min if using powder bleach with it, also depends on your hair color

no. manic panic doesnt use developer

It doesn’t matter what volume developer you use. You go by your end result and what level you lifted it too what undertone is left and what is your desired look or results. Generally you use a toner that is your level or darker. If you have too much yellow and you want a neutral you need a violet or an ash mixed in with maybe a neutral. It depends what you want your end results to be. Maybe you like more golden. I would look for pictures and toner formulas if I were you. Actually that’s what I do at times. Good luck have fun

A 30 Volume Developer is probably the strongest you want to go. Remember any additives, like Oloplex or Sally's Absolute Perfection will bring your volume down by 10, so your 30 volume would turn to 20 volume. Foils actually make a huge difference, especially on dark hair. You mix step 1 with your bleach and you can mix it into your red hair color.

volume isn’t like bleach! you need to mix a color with it for it to really show. the whole purpose of volume is to make ur hair light or dark WITH A COLOR!

Application and technique is key. Look how 40 vol lifted way to light down low. That hair was previously lightened. Your technique and timing is awful. On an elementary level, I dont know how anyone is any wiser.

Hi Lovely! I use 30 volume developer for my highlights and I leave it on for an hour....I know it’s a long time but it really lifts the hair.
Wow, for someone who bleaches so often, I'm surprised you wasted this time being so unprepared. Do this again, have the correct products, use a brush and not your fingers and time it correctly! The front got more lift time than the other sections. This could have been so informative had you only prepared.

So! Next time if you don't have 20 vol creme developer, but you do have 10 and 30 vol, you can just do an equal amount of each and they "create" 20 vol!!!
