LYRICS
I cannot sleep at night
That's what the day is for anyway
And as the clock strikes midnight
I hear them dancing at the graves
Singing to my mind
Killing the pain...sleepless nights...sleepless nights
I cannot sleep at night
That's what the day is for anyway
And as the clock strikes midnight
only they can let us meet
Even though she's dead now
I gotta see her again...sleepless nights...sleepless nights
I cannot sleep at night
I will do anything to see Missy again
Then let us make You an eternal deal
You will attend to the graves
You'll give us the house back and keep in mind
That we only come here at night
So we made the deal under the starry night and
Amon belongs to them now...
I feel the dawn coming my way
And as the sun breaks up the dark
I can't hear them dance no more
There's no voices
killing the pain...pain...pain

@@elculiaodelosjudaspriest King: All
Fully influenced by David Byron and a great fan of Uriah heep.Byron is the name of his son ( correct me if i m wrong)❤
True @@elculiaodelosjudaspriest
One of the most powerful songs recorded, ever
It has really great dynamics. I love the frequent shifts between the clean melodic passages and intense speed riffs.
The ending of this song is such a beautiful blend of crushing rhythms and classical harmonies. World class musicianship, imo.🤘
This one, and the invisible guests in my opinion are the most powerful songs. I love kings work
@@nickyslade6145 I feel the same way. I would also include black horseman too.
Absolutely kinda reminds me of the Bark at the Moon riff
что judast priest , что это - просто .... и ведь кто то слушант взахлеб)
Some of the best guitar playing ever
Totally
Fuckin A
Andy Larocque
The best ive heatd.king also puts a quality product out .
@Greg Seffler you're comparing yourself to an insanely good professional guitarist. Go easy on yourself, you can do it.
Andy's playing is magnetic, Once you start, you can't stop or skip the song.
Pete blakk is beast too!!!
I stopped and closed the video and what do ya know the video popped back up again !.. I couldn't resist to respond. I'm glad it did because I really love this song!!!!
From the riffs to the solos … amazing composition.
So glad to be back!❤
King Diamond is essentially the Diamond of Heavy Metal. Not everyone likes fancy jewelry, but those who can appreciate it's beauty never cease to see it's sparkle.
Nicely said. Couldn’t have said it better myself.
Beautiful 😢😂
@@alexarai3538right??
Wow. Is exactly how it is.
The man of the impossible notes. Plus the atmospere he creates is unmatchable.
Teacher: “why are you tardy for class?”
Me:”I cannot sleep at niiiiiiiiight”
That's what the class is for, anyway
I hear they are revising at the graves
...singing to my mind
But I don't Feeeeel Tardy!
Love it
3:14 what really makes this part unique is his perfect control between the high and the regular voice
Gives me goosebumps
I had the pleasure of meeting King 4 yrs ago, I was starstruck!! King was my Dad's biggest Idol he was literally his most dedicated #1 fan. He had the Don't Break the Oath album from Mercyful Fate tattooed on his entire back, met King's/Fate's bands over 20x and had all of King's/Fate's memorabilia/records/posters/clothing everything u name it plus its all autographed from the original bandmates and King! My Dad was so obsessed, he even had an old coke can of King's with his cig butt in it from 95' when he hung out with him (he swiped it he loved King that much haha!) and its still in his closet to this day! But sadly, my dad committed suicide a year ago so now King Diamond will forever have a special place in my heart and life. Thank you for a great childhood memories Dad and thank you for the incredible music King Diamond!! 🤘🤘🤘❤
im sorry brother.at least you think positive about it all. more n i can say for meself
Peace, love and respect to you and yours.
This turned sad very fast. Sorry for your loss man. Glad you have great memories of him.
You fuckin rock, my dude
Keep banging! 🤘
Sorry for your loss..Keep rocking my brother..
Legendary!!! Why is King Diamond NOT in the RnR hall of fame?!?He is a great musician, composer and artist who has influenced many!!!Hailz!!!
He eats the entire hall twice.
Because of the falsetto choice.
Plenty of falsettos in the hall of fame
I agree the best I saw him in concert years ago I from Ohio
Yes I totally agree. He influenced Metallica he is do.
This video is a masterpiece. True tribute to the old genre of horror cinema.
3:14 This is the reason why King is God of Metal.
Your* God of metal
@@harleyquinn6692 That is really unnecesary, gtf over here then mate
@@elculiaodelosjudaspriest one, this is 2 years old lmao and two, no it isn’t. Everyone’s allowed to have who they believe is their own god of metal. Back off.
My 1 month-old son refuses to sleep and screams all night. Someone make me an eternal deal!
He's going to be the future King Diamond!!
ROFL, I can picture him wearing the makeup saying "Melissaaaaaaaaaa!" In math class, he'll claim 18 is actually 9.
Awesome!
My parents used Bark at the Moon to put me to sleep.80s metal might not help sleeping, but it might.
Make him a nice cup of tea.
That guitar solo is amazing. I'm speechless.
It's like being shot to the moon on a rocket
And what even more, its cut in a half
My favorite King Diamond song 👍🏾👍🏾
The best voice ever. The king of metal singers.
yup, you either love him or hate him. Sucks that a lot of kids these days have no appreciation for actual singing talent. Hes in my top 5. Never heard another singer like him
King, Halford, Owens, Kiske, Dio and Dickinson are all on par for me :)
Alexandre Drouin what about warrel dane
A friend asked me what he sounds like and I told him imagine if Frieza from dragon ball z and daffy duck had a baby.
manduheavy vazquez uh he's great really but he is not the king of metal singers...there's Dio, Ozzy, etc.
that breakdown was just.. daammmmnnnnn..
I'm 15 and just started listening to King Diamond today. So far, I'm fucking loving it!!
This isn't metal core in traditional heavy metal it's called a solo
good job kid always listen to all kinds of music and expand your knowledge
glad to hear
+Colorado Cambered actually the breakdown is originally longer and more complex. this has been edited for this video version...
+GrayWoIf nope, theres a breakdown too. i suppose if you want to be super technical about it, its a bridge.
This deserves a million likes 👍 🤟🎸
but took just nine
This world is missing this type of Metal. Kids today have NO idea of how good we had it. We didn't need cell phones to control our lives Just KIND DIAMOND👿
Such a kind man he is. I heard he helps Grandmas into their rocking chair.
Took the words out of my mouth @roadstomadness
King Diamond always had bad ass riffs and playing with that neo classical style. First time listeners are always the same with king…first time they hear his vocals they chuckle and laugh a bit. Then, once they listen some more they’re totally hooked. They get it what the king’s all about.
the guitar solo is amazing
I am a professional musician who plays pop, hip hop and rock and my whole childhood was listening to King Diamond and the most amazing guitar play of all time!!! I love Andy's leads and unique style. This band has earned a place in the hall of fame!
It is not from "Abigail" but from "Conspiracy" ;)
yaa
Barbara Georgiou Lol goddammit RoadRunner
I keep thinking it's from THEM.
Barbara Georgiou exactly.
DominusLuna no, conspiracy.
Growing up in the 90's I was big into thrash metal and I used to find King Diamond so corny, but now that I started listening to the early Mercyful Fate stuff and was introduced to a few great King Diamond song's like this one, I've changed my tune bigtime. It's not for everyone but he's very unique and waaaaaaay ahead of his time.
I was the same
Lol yeah I was into thrash and death metal in the 80s s and the 90s and I thought king diamond was rather weak in terms of heaviness. Years later I realized he created very good music - just a different taste from what I was used to
@@brianmeen2158and on top of the fact that he influenced all of the major Black, Thrash and Death bands. Listen to interviews of Corpsegrinder, Chuck Schuldiner, Fenriz, Lars Ulrich, Kerry King they all talk highly about King Diamond and Mercyful Fate, especially Fate. I mean, they were the first wave of Black Metal
Love me some King. Great songcraft and killer chops.
Oh my, King Diamond easily has the best vocals of any band. For a man to hit those falsetto notes, not only that, they are so accurate. And the style of his singing, bringing theatrical influences into metal, pure genius!
Halford
King Diamond has it all, great metal , great vocals. Sounds like nothing else.
One of the first songs I heard of King Daimond back in 1990....opened a totally new genre of metal for me. And god did I enjoy it.
Makes me all sentimental and nostalgic to hear it again now.
I agree.ole metal.. skate rock...the music is still alive....
Was my first song from Kind Diamond aswell, it was in some vinyl compilation that had helloween etc back in mid 90's or so.
That’s so cool, because I was born in 1990 and didn’t discover King Diamond until I was 18 or so...
God had nothing to with it.....
I don't trust anyone who doesn't like King Diamond
Same here!
I can not imagine anything better than to be completely surrounded by King Diamond's music. They are simply a power-house of rock. Love them!
King Diamond has a voice like no other. He gives me chills.
LaRocque's playing is as close to perfection as one could possibly get, and his tone is to die for. Considering that he was using solid-state amps at the time, it shows that it's all in the fingers.
Conspiracy was recorded with a Marshall JCM 800 and a Silver Jubilee, both of which are EL34 tube powered amps.
Buster McNutt the grit of the tone yet has clarity. Probably studio magic. You can hear both notes in his power chords vs just hearing the chord.
Great pic of lee van cleef, bro
I thought they was using Lee Jackson metaltronix amps...perfect connection gp1000. Andy was using that on them and conspiracy
Doubt this tone comes from a ss amp..
Sounds dead spot - on Marshall to me..
Best song they ever wrote, BEST 4 MINUTES AND 4 SECONDS YOU WILL SPEND IN YOUR ENTIRE DAY.
I don't know how many times I have put the needle back to listen to the solos again. They are literally perfect - as the whole song is.
This song showcases Kings vocal techniques more than any other song. This is a master class in vocals.
I have listened King for about 10 years, and from all the albums, all songs, his performance in Sleepless Nights is just simply incredible!
This is the real KING!!!!
One of my favorite solos.
I cannot sleep at night
Thats what the day is for anyways
Me every day 🙋
sounds like you need to make an eternal deal...
I cannot eat tide pods at night.
Yeah...it sucks...breeds overthinking and depression...sorry
When Pete black's guitar solo!!!! brings Tears to the Eye!! You know it's magical more Tears with Andy!! In 2021 still frekkn phannominal!! 🤘🤘🤘
The King of Metal.
to see king pull off all these songs live on this tour was one of the highlights of my life, one of the best live performers ever
"so we made the deal under....."
best part of this song
Literally one of my favorite musical moments in metal history.
I'll never get tired of this song.
King of all metal!!!
I've been listening to this song for years and I still really like it!
I'm gonna have this CD playing on my porch on Halloween
2:14-2:24 is such an eargasm for me
I can listen to that over and over!
Daniel K Blume totally agree. Reminds me so much of Tony Abasi's riff in Animals as Leaders. Awesome.
Daniel K Blume the whole song is for me
same here ! i have goosebumps when i listen to and remember it on live show
Daniel K Blume Isi
King Diamond & Rob Halford Are The Best Metal Singers. Yes it's arguable. Who's listening in 2/2020?
I love When He Scream: "And When The Clock Strikes Midnight!!" xP
This is the song that got me into King Diamond. At first I didn't really like his voice, but the music in this song was so amazing I had to continually listen to this, then I later got into the song Lies and I realized "Man, he has a freaking amazing voice!" After that King Diamond opened a whole new door to me!
one of the greatest vocalists of all time
the thing i most noticed about this song is how there is so many parts with different atmosphere but all are equally great moments. a chaotic poem
I'm so happy to have found this absolute gem
Love his vocal range. LONG LIVE KING DIAMOND🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
he's the king of falsetto... love his vocals too!
one of my absolutely favorite songs!
Truly THE KING!
Classic King Diamond, for me it's the ultimate metal track
Un ídolo para la eternidad que grande que es King Diamond esa voz es única
2:55 goosebump
Since "87" Something very special about all the musicians!
3:15 - beautiful!! he goes so low in head voice.... sounds ethereal.
the solos are fucking GOLD!!
Master Andy LaRocque!!
Andy is so under appreciated!! He kills those solos!! Guitar god.
I too love how his voice turns all evil at 2:58
I really like this song , shine on crazy king diamond
King is the man!
How I have not heard this band before? Great guitar work and the voice is up there with Halford, Dickinson, Dio and Tate.
Oh man... I really wish I could go back and discover Abigail again for the first time.
Abigail - Conspiracy - The Eye
King Diamond's Holy Trinity, love all these albums.
Abigail, Them, Conspiracy. The Eye came after.
Guitar player awesome king shredds on vocals
Greatest guitar solo of all time right here
High fantastic notes... one of the best singers ever!
2020 and still gives me chills 😈
Best metal guitarists and simple awesome drummers.
Heyyyyyyyyyyy Musics of Today ????????? That is REAL Musics That We Call CLASSIC Right :)
Still sounds incredible.
3:14 love this part so much
One of the best songs from my childhood...Father of screaming and growling voice (when i was child, i thought there was 2 vocalists in this song))).
King , Halford and dio the best voices ever.
King diamond is a legend
That guitar at 0:14 is so beautiful.
No one came close in Metal ... best ever. Long live the King.
Pure Real Metal.
Сегодня буду слушать его и вспоминать 80-е ) Страшилки моего детства )
ну хоть кто то наш
У меня на кассете досих пор с 80х записи сохранились.ностальгия послушать заезженную запись.комуто этого не суждено испытать.
They broke the mold after King Diamond was hatched.
Thanks for providing lyrics!
To me, king diamond is heavy metal in the flesh.
Fantastic sound. Such a refreshing change from the norm. I love the build-up and the intense music. The vocals are totally fantastic with that huge range. I am very inspired by this band!!!
1:35 to 1:40 the best voice ever. Greatness.
I have no idea why but out of every single King Diamond song this is my favorite, everything about it is fucking amazing the way King Diamond sings and the solo hit me really hard
Hail the KING!!!
my only regret.. never saw him in concert... Bet it was kick ass
John Wahan+ Yeah it was , Nov. 3, 1989 , Conspiracy tour , he did the whole THEM album then the whole Conspiracy album , people acting out characters for both albums.
Then the finale , they put him in a casket , lit it on fire and played in the dark while the casket was burning 😈🔥😈🔥
It is. Go see him if he comes to your area. He still tours.
When you're high as fuck, enjoying a few drinks, and it's 4:57am.
I really liked Micky Dees drumming style. I definitely have his influence in my drumming. After Micky Dee, Kim came to me and asked me to be the next drummer. I was 20 or 21 years old, then. But I was vested in my band SANXION, here in Dallas, Tx. He and his wife, at the time Debra, were living in Carrollton, Tx. So then my friend stepped in and became the drummer on the "Graveyard" release. All verifiable through Kim or his associates.
This dude crushes them all with those vocals and his band this is the fucking death.
Awesome song
Uno de mis grupos favoritos de los 80, conservo todos sus discos. junto con los folios de cuaderno con la traducción a lapiz de las canciones (traducción pre-adolescente tirando de collins..), que década mas gloriosa en todo.
Horror and guitar.virtuosity, majestatic.voice and great.drummer.
His vocals are so soft and high, love it.
Essa música é genial, uma das melhores do King Diamond. É uma música muito completa, a primeira vez que você ouve você vicia
3:15 I think is the best part
Adam Wagner Same here dude. I love all his stuff but I think that part is the best melodic singing King has ever had. I come back just for that part constantly.
Omg that's my favorite part too. And there are so many parts
This part is why king is god of metal for me.
So true dude, so epic
Adam Wagner that's what I was just thinking! I don't know why but he reminds me of a fallen angel
Man, the guitar leads in this are like from another planet, planet NORD, a very superior people are the beautiful Nords!
He has a voice just like an angel
