LYRICS
Grandma, welcome home
You have been gone far, far too long
Is this a dream, are you really back?
Let me help you out of the chair
Grandma
Let me touch you, let me feel
Grandma, take a look
What do you think of the house and the silvery moon?
We are going to repaint the front door soon
Let me help you out of the chair
Grandma
Let me touch you, let me feel
Wait till you see your room up in the attic
Prepared just like you said, without a bed
You will find your rocking chair and the tea pot that Missy found
Let me help you out of the chair
Grandma
There is someone waiting for you, now come along
Missy Mother, they are dying to meet you
How strange, she's spoken no word
I wonder grandma, are you all right?
Grandma' what was it like to be on that holiday site
Oh, it could have been worse but with them by my side
In the twilight they sang all the old lullabies
Grandma, who are they?
Never mind you dirty little brat
Let us go inside
Something's on their mind
They are still alive
Can you feel their eyes?
Can you feel their eyes?
Now that you are stuck with me
You better be my friend
When we used to visit my Grandma (RIP 😥), my younger brother and I would have a competition to see who could get the most lines from this song into casual conversation with her 🤣
This is oddly wholesome
🤣🤣🤣 that's hilarious
R.I.P.
Somehow saying to your Grandma "Let me touch you, let me feel you" is a bit weird ngl

Wanting to help Grandma out of the chair is enough proof for me that King is the consummate gentleman. Thank the dark lord that southern hospitality is still alive and kickin.
lmao 😂
+MrDarrinzocchi At 0:43 he does go bit overboard with the, uh, "hospitality" with ol' Granny... don't ya think?
Southern Northern European :D
except that he touched her inappropriately and some other things happened. lol
That's why King chose Dallas Texas.

Voivod!🤘
Lost my 95 year old Grandma today and had to come back to this song to remind myself of the time we were in the car together several years ago and I told her "hey grandma you know they wrote a song about you coming home from the hospital right?" She had no idea what I meant and then I played this and the loud "GRANDMAAAA!" scared her half to death hahaha. She wasn't too big a fan of the song but she always chuckled a bit when I would come over and the first thing i did was scream "GRANDMAAAA!" as high as I could to greet her
rip ur grandma
Wow, you suck so much.
wrong! it was about her being released from a mental ward in an asylum
@@krystalharwood6359 I'm aware of that. Hospitals care for mentally insane people too. It wasn't really a priority to sit down and explain the entire King Diamond discography lore to a 90 year old woman who was trying to watch the price is right
@@theobscurity9392 I hope you're doing well and the memory of screaming Grandma is still a comfort to you.
One of the most iconic drum fills at the start of a song ever 🔥
Mickey Dee.
Yes, and a bit similar to the drum fill on Diary of a Madman
I realize that many people are turned off by King Diamond's high falsetto/counter-tenor voice. The unique aspect, to me, about King Diamond is the lyrics and overall direction and story telling of their/his albums. Few bands make "concept" albums. Their albums actually tell a story, and that intrigues me. I hear so much inflection and emotion in his voice. A willingness to raise issues like child abuse in his albums, and the flirting with the occult, it speaks of a deeper message behind the music. And the band.... Andy and Mikkey (KD after Mikkey is also great)..... incredible......Their albums are some of my favorite to listen to in one sitting. Real works of art.
King Diamond is a truly unique artist. The composition and musicianship especially on Abigail and Them! are criminally under-appreciated. Not just the story lines, but the way the music progresses from the start of the album to the end is genuinely masterful. But it's not everyone's cup of tea (right, grandma?)
Bottom Io
King is one of the best singers in Metal, hands down
King Bugs I am bothered by his voice, yet appreciate the band. With everything you said, and how musically talented the whole band. I don't mind anything but the extremely high falsetto voice. When I was 16, I heard it live at a festival to see Slayer, I got a headache the whole time during Black Diamond's set. (In my profile picture, I'm 17, but currently 20.
+Cruz Majeno listen to him enough times and you will get used to the vocals. It takes immense skill to sing the way he does
Mickey Dee such a underrated drummer. Top ten best in the world.
Not even in TOP 100
Mikkey is a very good drummer
So underrated!
He's a great inspiration for Mastodon's drummer who uses the very same beat from the beginning in one of their songs.
He really is one of the best. His contributions to King and Motorhead can never be understated.
They should play this at retirement homes! So polite and motivating!!!
i was worried that man singing had actually died and the video starred his ghost! thank goodness, so much talent.
When you get kicked out of The Bee Gees and decide to form a metal band
+NaughtyGawd no doubt he should do a rockin' cover of Stayin' Alive, it'd shut my in-laws up no doubt they like Pat Travers and Little River band that type of shit, not dissin' it but damn, long live the King
😂
the king is the air supply of metal but he does it soooo well!!
I love the Bee Gees...... Barry Gibb was one of the greatest singers in R&B music along with the rest of his brothers. KD uses the same exact vocal technique Barry does but in an even higher register
King was in The Bee Gees?
Probably the best line up King ever had.
Yup, Abigial, Them and Conspiracy ... best albums
HangDeath
King Diamond album's from best to worst (Not counting by the story on the album's)
1. "Them"
2. Abigail
3. Conspiracy
4. Fatal Potrait
5. The Eye
6. The Spiders Lullabye
7. The Puppet Master
8. Voodoo
9. The Graveyard
10. Give me Your Soul
11. House of God
12. Abigal II
James Blobb You must've been high when you wrote that list Abigail 2 is a fricken good album, The Graveyard , The Puppet Master and Voodoo are way better than The Spider's Lullabye
DruinFeyfolk Litsening to the albums there are some chanches that i would make (For Example: I have leard to like "The Graveyard much more. Perhaps more than "The Spiders Lullabye" and definately more than "Voodoo") But by me, Abigail II remains at the bottom. Sorry.
All good, .. Personally my list would be 1. Abigail 2. Fatal Portrait 3. Them 4. The Eye 5. Puppet Master ( I love King's and Livia's vocal combos) 6. Abigail 2 ( The first 4 songs and Spirits are definitely my favorite songs on this one) 7. The Graveyard ( though this could change to a higher rank 8. Conspiracy 9. Voodoo 10. Give me your Soul 11. Spider's Lullaby 12. House of God... ,
First metal band I've ever heard. My dad drove me back home from the hospital and had this playing. Had I had not listened to King diamond I would have never touched a guitar or even listened to metal.
Clearly one of the best drum intro of all time!
To all you out there calling King Diamond "gay" and questioning the seriousness of this band, you need to learn a little about the history of metal in the '80s. This shit here, is masterful. The album is a concept album with a fantastic, eerie, story. One video, taken out of context is understandably confusing, but do some research before spewing shit all over youtube. This is one seriously talented band. If you like REAL metal, check out the album "Them". This particular track was the first release off that album. Long live 1988!
then why does he have a clamp on his nuts half the album? Celine dion cant go that high...and she wouldnt because it sounds stupid
howycwap apparently you don't know much about metal vocals... some of the best vocalists in metal at the moment (PelleK (Damnation Angels), Fabio Leone (Rhapsody of Fire, Angra), Timo Kotipelto (Stratovarius) can sing pretty damn high. metal has never been about low vocals and death grunts, rather, it has always been about talented singers like Ronnie James Dio and Rob Halford.
Vayle Never said highs were bad, but when theyre borderline cat noises, they are stupid. I love a good vocalist with a range thats actually interesting and not seemingly for a shock factor. Wow he can go so high!...okay...old news
Rather than blast those for calling the band gay, you took the route of informing them on the goodness of the band. Very cool, bro.
Armando Perez Hate never accomplishes anything. I'm here to educate :-)

His vocals are DEFINITELY something you grow accustomed to/develop a taste for. First time I listened to King, I was like THIS IS MEASLEY AS HELL!!! Then, committed to listening to the music and heavy riffage. Loved the music, and I learned to develop the taste over a few times of listening to him and THEN I fell in love

Let me touch and feel my grandma. Ohhhhhhhh... I just remembered that I need to repaint my front door this weekend.
The guitar tone is amazing, and always chills me when the song begins. It's heavy and agressive, perfect for KD's grandmaaaaa screams
When my mom needs help getting out of her recliner...i help her up singing..."LET ME HELP YOU OUT OF THE CHAIR!! G-G-GRANDMA!!!!🤣🤣
A dozen of amazing riffs that could give a dozen songs, condensed into one. This is why this song is awesome.
Yeap!
that drum intro needs to be 1 hour long just because lol
Gotta love Mikkey Dee!

Įsäį Bvstøš YES!! YESSSSSSSS!!!!
When i first heard this shit back in the day I was reluctantly impressed by the drummer. Kim Peterson's vocals were obviously so doctored,
I wasn't won over.
Halford was always the real deal followed by Dio and Dickinson.
Mickkey Dee was clearly the stand out musician in King Diamond
I'm a Maiden fan myself, but you can never underestimate the King, NEVER.............
as a whole King had the best band of musicians during this period EVER!
Agreed, although Queensryche just entered the fray
Within the first 15 seconds you have one of the top three best drum fill intros of all time, and one of the top 10 metal guitar riffs of all time.

King Diamond is like Frank Zappa. He is outstanding and the musicians around him are top shelf. Hail to the King!
Neil St oh fuck yeah I love Avenged Sevenphauld
This is why I love heavy metal, thrash metal and power metal!
I've been a fan before this came out. King diamond still is my favorite vocalist. His voice, the way he uses it, the harmonizing, still blows me away. Can't wait for the new album.

Just superb musicianship in the whole band, this blew my head off in 1987 when I bought the album on vinyl.
Never could get into this vocal style, but King Diamond has earned his place!
Thats a shame man. It isnt for everyone tho. Kings voice is more akin to a theater singer which I also enjoy on the side so naturally it makes sense to me. My wife is an opera singer and she loves his voice
Such a nice person to help the elderly
I remember I remember when King Diamond hosted headbanger's blog 1988 he premiered the video He said it was filmed at an old house in London it was abandoned And he said I hope everybody likes it

The last 3 riffs are pure genius as the end to a song like this . Just vicious and mysterious af .

Just getting into the KING.
What a eye opening introduction in the world of probably the most underrated artist of all time .
Shredding Guitar & Drums that kick you in the face.
Underrated and headlining big festivals is an interesting take
This is one of my very favorite KD songs, and that second lead break is incredible--Andy LaRocque is a brilliant player. This video is gloriously cheesy in the best way, too! Further, I give King tons of respect for not only carving out a long and storied career, but being able to maintain that inimitable falsetto wail over time. More power to him!
I liked Pete Blakk's ( 1st solo) best.....he nailed the feel of the song imo 🤘
@@andyhayes7828 Fair enough. I appreciate his playing more these days, in all honesty.
@@MaskedRiderChris Andy is a beast of a player and everyone knows it, but Pete is more obscure and I 'think' that people just lump his solo's in as being LaRocque's...... Pete has excellent dynamic feel and finds the 'notes' that work.
I recently found out that Blakk was offered the job as an original guitarist in King Diamond but turned it down. Imagine having Andy and Pete on all that stuff.....it would have been great !
I still talk to my grandmother every day and she's been dead 10 years, I can still hear her laugh. I love you grandma.

My Grandma died on Halloween I always remember this song
When there's nothing to eat in my house, I always ask King Diamond to call my : Grandmaaaaaaaa!.
The uptempo break in the middle of the song with angry and crazy guitars-just love it
I've gotten slack all the time from my friends about his singing, but King has some of the best musicians in the band's, yeah, don't forget Mercyful Fate too. There is so many musical elements in every song, instead of focusing on King's voice...listen to the constant changes ( like having 5 songs in one )and the kick ass solos !
