Sir William Connolly (b.1942) is a retired Scottish stand-up comedian, musician, presenter, actor, and artist. He is sometimes known, especially in his homeland, by the Scots nickname "The Big Yin" ("The Big One"). What a cracking song. I heard a cover of it recently by another Glasgow singer called Gerry Cinnamon live at Hampden Park. It's a good version also,

Listening to this makes me long to return to Scotland. I am an American, but mostly Scottish on my late Mother's side of the family. I plan to return with a friend soon to make a slow, carefree trip through that beautiful country that feels more like home to me than where I live now.
