Unbelievably sad that people seen this shight as humour,SAD.

This episode with Rab C Nesbit was the one that launched the character. One late night in Glasgow with just this sketch to film., no body wanted to do. It and everyone was tired so just to get it done with gregor put on the suit and improvised the entire sketch.

I would suggest - with the greatest respect - that NV was not like NTNOCN because the latter didn't have recurring characters. That would make it a sort of forerunner to The Fast Show and similar sketch comedy - although I can't think of anything it would be contemporaneous with in a similar vein.
