I absolutely loved this, I think it was released in 1994. Billy probably isn’t long for this world, but he has brought such joy to literally millions of people. He is an utter genius and we need to cherish him. Thank you for everything Billy.
Watched this when i was a boy living in Scotland, still watching all these years later living in Australia with my own kids...thank you billy for everything you have given me over the years... its the Scotland i remember that i can now pass onto my family.
@@whiteterrier1840 Here now, it’s not at all a dump. Very beautiful and clean, I know around a year ago there was a bin strike but that was resolved after a few weeks. Maybe you visited then.
Just the best. Good on you Billy. You helped me iron my shirts for 20 years. This video series got me through the mind-numbing drudgery of ironing my shirts.
Ah thanks for posting this! My favourite travel shows ever, still think about them often. Billy’s world tours taught me how to love people in all their wonderful peculiarities. 💙
My favourite series when I lived in Scotland in the mid 90s 😃👍 I really loved to learn about Scotland and the Scottish people that way and even could rehearse understanding the glaswegian accent 😊 Thanks to Billy for that opportunity! Only made it to Mary King's Close 20 years later... still a very special place. - And then there were loads of dolls... Quite creepy... 😱😁
Oh my...now I'm really homesick for the old place...lived just around the corner from St. Stephen's church there. Did the touristy thing with a friend once, Mary King's, felt somebody brushing my neck down there, thing was I was standing right at the back leaning against a wall. Scared the bejaysus outta me. Spent many a night at the World's End, although the memories are quite fuzzy now. I wonder why...
This was/is a great series unfortunately you can5 get it in full anywhere other than on dvd, the best comedian ever doing a tour of one of the most amazing countries in the world. What else do you need ?
thank you Billy, never seen before, really loved watching and will try to watch all the other posts that you have made similar to this, love your presenting skills and all the content its superb, funny, lively and inspiring, all these and much more
Thanks for posting, I remember so clearly watching Billy’s Tour of Scotland back in the 90’s. It inspired me to visit as many places in my country as possible and did so 👍 thanks again.
Here is me, learning some of the history of the city I was born & live in, from a video recorded in almost, but not quite, the year I was born, from one of my favourite comedians
Came back to check what he said.. sadly disappointed that he said people were left to die in Mary Kings Close after it was sealed off. Not one person was sealed off to die. Love you Billy but get your facts straight. I visited the very site three days ago, its a very moving place. Go, you will gain much from the experience.
Yes, you’d have thought Bobby would have made the edit. Surely they filmed something and perhaps didn’t include it? Love the statue that is also a water bowl for any passing dogs - and the pub ‘The Greyfriars Bobby’ is a lovely watering hole.
@@cinemainsymphony737 Thanks for that. I didn't visit that pub. Maybe I'll give it a try next time. I suppose Bobby's story is quite well-known too and that's another reason he wasn't mentioned.
I think they should have just left mary kings close like it was when billy went to visit. Instead of it being what it is now a ghastly tourist attraction and cost a fortune to go inside to visit.
So how is Scotland and the UK since any nationalism or respect for tradition is being destroyed? Do you have a stab proof vest? of course not this was a different time.

World tour of Australia -1994. World Tour of Scotland - 1995. I was born in 1995 and have been raised with Billy ever since lol
Genius 😂😂
At least you mentioned the video, then spoilt it by talking bollocks.

Imagine Billy as your tour guide!! I would love that.
Edinburgh is, by far, my favourite city. He's correct. Gorgeous architecture and friendly people. So much amazing history.
I'd love to visit the plague street
@Jambo M
Not my opinion after living down in south east of England i loved to go home to Edinburgh , loved the friendly natives
Have you been there lately.? It’s a bloody tip.
@GGJ Martin Cliched, unoriginal shite.

Hi Catharine I'll second that, this is great, never seen before and I loved watching Billy presenting this its fantastic
❤
I love Scotland and Billy Connolly!
This is my favourite tour of Billys. I watched when it first came on tv and cannot understand why it has (to my knowledge) never been repeated.
It's been repeated twice, just not for a while.
Have you got the clip when he visits Glasgow please? I'd love to see it again. Thanks.
It was the first of Billy’s “World Tour of” series, to me it is the best one!

Not only the Capital of Scotland but by far the bonniest and wealthiest city in Scotland.

Probably my favourite city so beautiful
What a wonderful country I have some Scottish friends and they are absolutely amazing people

I would love to buy Billy's Trike!
They are readily available.
@@olsmokey I only want one. Where are they available?
@@olsmokey Who told you Billy's trikes were readily available.
Are they the steps from the film trainspotting?

Wsh the streets of Edinburgh had as few cars on these days.
If i went to scotland i would not want to leave.
I didn't want to leave and plan to return at my earliest convenience. Would love to live in Edinburgh. Am over half Scot on my Mother's side.
@4:37 Where in Edinburgh are those steps?
At 4:37 Billy is going down "The News Steps". They go from the corner of St. Giles street and decend down to Market St. Very near the Royal mile.

Love Edinburgh and loved this series too. Not a mention of Greyfriars Bobby btw. Thats strange.

Probably because a feature film and documentary(maybe more) were made and several books written about him.
Most of the old world Edinburgh is buried under ground.
Whats he doing! I hear you say 😂
but eventually you have to go back UP....
I think they should have just left mary kings close like it was when billy went to visit. Instead of it being what it is now a ghastly tourist attraction and cost a fortune to go inside to visit.

Stab proof vest 😂
Was the nationalism providing better knife protection? Not for me to say but no
dam billy without a goatly or tash looks wrong
He lied. Said he couldn't stand politics & politicians, but has talked loads about them over the years.
He didn't lie. He has said many times over the years how much he hates politics and politicians. You lied though.
Glaswegian we give Edinburgh wouldn't give yeah a free 💩
