How long ago did u film this video
@@graavv6252 Merry Christmas to you too!
@@2vintage are you going to do more series and is it going to be a build? If the build is correct they can make 40+hp
Blasters are cool quads man, cheap to build, super reliable, and you can find them for cheap. You can beat the shit out of these quads and they just keep going. They arent the fastest quad but they are a blast to ride.
The continuation of the IT200 motor, it really moved the bike.
Love the Blaster... perfect for a beginner who loves that 2 stroke powerband and smell! Thanks for the upload.
Pulling the motor apart on a nice bench, that couldn’t be 2vintage. Props on diagnosing and absolutely getting to work.👌
When you see a blaster on the front cover of a 2vintage video you know its gonna be a good one.
To me, all those metal chunks appear to be from the kickstarter spring, so that would solve both of your problems
I'm having the same problem u seem like you know what ur talking about how sure are you
Gosh I’ve been wanting to know this type knowledge my whole life brother it’s amazing watching you wondering if your gonna get it going or not and 98 percent of the time you do! I wish I knew you in real life I would buy something you fixed you really know you stuff and teach us how to do it completely! You show us how to fix it ourselves so cool brother thanks for the confidence you give me on these types of Machines a dirt bike or 4 wheeler mechanic wouldn’t never let us know how it really works keep the hard honest work up! Thanks god bless! Oh and you always make it look easy!
By far one of your best videos man. Make sure you block off that oil injection line on the carb. It will make it run poorly with that air leak. I think they make kits you can buy to properly remove it or block it off. Again. Awesome video.
I believe it has a carb that has it blocked off already.
I rebuilt one a while ago, and it wouldn't shift past 3rd, turned out it was the new oil plug i put in that was to long
Finally a blaster! It's been so long since you did one of these
Yeah it has been a while!

Hey love the vids merry Christmas
Just bought a 2000 blaster fully rebuilt motor as was blown. New rear axle new wheel handlebars and wires. I love the thing
Awesome!
It was the spring from the backside of the kick start thing you had it right just not that spring, its like the one on the back that holds it like a clip if that made any sense. I'm putting one together that someone had for $200 in pieces and just dealt with that spring. Always love getting help from your videos bro!
Blasters are some of the best quads ever I have a 2003 Yamaha blaster and my friend has some as well they rip and they are so fun in the trails and on my MX track.
They are great in tight trails but the mx track hell no
These things are for kids.
@@michaeltrower6792 Yeah I know a normal MX track but my MX track in the woods is perfect for it
@@kennycampbelljr5896 They are small but that makes them a blast and an adult can ride them fine.
I love this channel!!! Does anyone else just enjoy watching this guy do his thing?
The spring may be in backwards I seen it happen to my friends kickstarter on his 01 blaster
Good job man.i currently am restoring an 82 cr 125 honda, and its got great spark,175 compression, carbs clean and functioning,no air obstructions, plugs brand new,cap and wire, brand new,and i cannot get the thing to fire.nothing, not even with starting fluid,or fuel in the plug hole.nada...its flustering me
Dude, what "work"? It's splitting the case of an air cooled two stroke. We've already seen you do a TRX450 and a Tecate. You got this, son!
Please make more videos about this blaster. I have one myself a 2001, without the key, the fancy headlight etc. I never knew that they had a oil injection to the carb. I just always premix my gas. And where would you put the oil? Is there an extra tank??? Plus i have a hose going from the top of the block to the top where my headlight is. What is that for??
I just got one myself, a 2002. Sounds like someone has taken all the extras off of yours, which isn't a bad thing. Mine is stock and I had to do a TORS delete and I'm waiting on a oil block off plate to delete the oil delivery. They have a small oil tank rear left with a hose to the pump and a smaller hose from the pump back up to the carb. If you're missing these hoses make sure it's been sealed with RTV. I'm removing my pump and blocking it with a plate you can get on Ebay, comes with plate, 2 screws, and a gasket. There's other ways to deal with it but this is the best way. That hose you mentioned is a vent. Oh btw, if your's has had the Tors removed, and a new carb cap eliminating the Tors block on top of the carb, you will have needed a new idle screw drilled and tapped into the carb. This is necessary to get it to idle properly. If this has already been done the big (boss) port , center on the choke side will have been ground flat (it's tapered to begin with), and will have the brass screw installed for idle.
That spring is from the Kickstarter gear I’m pretty sure. I just got a 1985 yz80 and the kick gear has a piece that comes off the bottom of the gear and it sits in the clutch cover. Look at a picture of one
Dude I would love to see you do a Trx300ex build or restoration. Btw love the videos.
Agreed
I’m looking at picking one up from my uncle and the Kickstarter doesn’t return. Thanks for showing me where the spring is!
You can get one of those stens inline sparkplug tester for testing that.& you can leave it hooked up to even see it from setting on the fourwheeler.& etc. Running.& not running to also.

I think i see your problem.

@@morrow49 what does that have to do with what i said.
I’ve been waiting for these vids watching this in school 😂
Joe who ever had this before you definitely didnt know what they were doin that one head bolt was so tight they definitely didn’t torque things correctly, ive had issue with my shift drum on my blaster so I understand this problem
We got it for cheap and destroyed it then built the top end, then we blew the exaust and sold it
@@braydennelson8381 are you the guy who sold it to joe?
No I am not my buddy was . I was just one of the people to ride it
Get a yfz450 next
my YZ 125 done the exact same thing with the kicker it's just a problem that you have to fix with a c-clip on the gear that turns well that engages the kicker and the clutch basket it's probably rattling around and then slipping
There should be a little clip on the kick start gear toward the back where that little tongue thing sticks out and catches it on the case to stop is and the that clip goes back there that’s the end of it that you where trying to match up to the spring
First commenter that got this right lol that I've seen anyway
My guess is you lost the bb type bearing between the two clutch actuator rods that you called a shift rod. It will make proper clutch adjustment upon reassembly virtually impossible also check locator pins behind shift star. Great vids keep up the good work. Oh wait now I see it resting on the cardboard. 25.31
Nobody:
Vintage at 4:08 “not to shab” idk y but that’s hilarious to me😂
How come you’re not into the ltrs yfz s and the other 450 quads or bikes
keep the top to airbox off. i have a 2002 yamaha blaster and i love it
My 1996 blaster did this. I split the case halves and found it was a bad shift fork, replaced it, used tons of assembly lube and she runs like a dream now
I have a banshee and a warrior and when the quads aren’t running you can’t shift them past 2nd gear or so I would go ride it and see if it will shift past second. If the transmission was messed up it probably wouldn’t shift at all
Perfect person to ask my question. I have a raptor 350. I talk to so many people that say the blaster is way faster. I've raced 3 blasters and gapped every single one by quite a bit. I had no modifications at the time I raced them. Your warrior is basically the same as my raptor 350. Is your warrior faster than your blaster or did I just get lucky 3 times in a row?
RS7JR he has a banshee and a warrior, not a blaster. Banshees would be way faster. I would guess a warrior is faster than a blaster, but have no idea.
@@trentonwatrud6297 🤦♂️ my bad. Was at work and paying half attention to what I was reading. Thanks for the heads up
@@xfiringsquadx I’m pretty sure a warrior is faster then a blaster. And the raptor 350 is like the warrior expect the raptor is newer and probably has a couple different things on it
Can't wait to see that racing with all the others.
is the case cracked or did they just accidentally get gasket maker on the one the case on the back side of where the kicker gear is?
How much did you get for it?
hi 2 vintage i haave a ktm 125 and it has a oil leak were would the oil leak most likly be and how could i fix it thanks
Probably the oil drain bolt or the clutch cover gasket leaking.
Could also be more severe like crank seals
I think your right something got damaged or there's another piece stuck somewhere in it good video
Nice too see try so hard on bikes and quads
How much did u get it for!? Plz respond
So what did you need to fix for this problem
Mine was shifting the same when I was stationary shifting the engine. I did the shift star mod and replaced the detent arm. Now that that engine is put back together it shifts like butter. For some reason blaster are tough to shift while engine is off. Thanks
My Blaster has a problem of not being able to stay on after turning it on, only way it would be able to stay on is by pushing the throttle a bit reving it a lil to keep it on. What’s the problem and what can i do to fix it,
Love your videos, I have a question, I have a 98 blaster 200, I looking for the flange peice that connects the exhaust to the motor, Been looking everywhere online for it and can't find it, Do you happen to know where I can find that peice, Please let me know, Appreciate it in advance.

Couldn't agree with you more, brochacho.
Dang bro you went in detail can’t wait until the next vid

@@keithlucia9415 no we won't, it's Christmas break remember? Only goofing off with unfunny jokes and poorly thought out activities.
I had a '98 yamaha blaster 200cc. I loved it. I wish i had another one.
When i put it in gear it wil drive a bit with the clutch hold down.... Is it clutch adjust or plates?
That is part of another spring. At least on my DT125. The kick starter has two springs , the first one is an angular spring you showned mounted on the shaft on 31:46 , the second is an axial spring that fits between the kickstart axle (bottom) and the case. I recognize the shape of that spring, exactly like the DT. Check for the part 90468-26048-00 for the blaster.
Awesome video man love blasters there fun I had a 2000 full dg exhaust fully race ready redone mine kept up with my friends old 350 raptor, I'm looking to get another one sometime add to the collection
@2vintage. I really love your videos bro I've learned so much bro I just have a hard time bleeding the rear brakes of my dirt bike keep up the hard work bro and u have a merry Christmas bro
Have a blaster i can roll the shift drum through the hears will spinning the counter shaft but ifbinput the rollar arm thing on it gets jammed up. Ive pulled the gears off the trans shafts and everything moves freely and appears to be good. Hmmm
The neutral after second gear happened to me before the cause of it was the wrong and missing transmission washers. I imagined the gear tryna shift and the gear that's supposed to take placed gets pushed up when it's supposed to connect which makes the teeth on the gears worn a little. Check it
Yep, small partrs like thrust washers, circlips matter.
You need a block off plate for that oil pump. It will run lean with the pump there and also the carb oil injection hole needs to be plugged. I say this from experience, I’ve blown up my old blaster twice from this before I realized. Also the top of that piston looks weird like that because it is a straight up Chinese eBay piston. I don’t see it lasting long at all.
Joe please do a top speed run on the Blaster.
Guessing 55mph. Gearing isn't meant for speed in these. Fun to ride though!
@@matt12251975 these Blasters are for kids so yeah 55mph is probably the most it'll do.
For how much did you pick it up my brother has always wanted one?
All it's missing is the tommey b1 exhaust
Absolutely, I put one on mine and it's a totally different machine. Best $500 I ever spent
The best pipe is the ct, or the trinity. Toomy is ok compared to them
Yea, any right bend pipe will outperform stock configuration pipe. Dmc alien pipes are the best sounding imo.
Hey Joe hope your days great bro. I just finished rebuilding a blaster did tors removal and brake control delete idle great revs great but when I test ride it it has no pick up power. Any ideas carbs new also
did you rebuild the bottom end or just top end?
@@2vintage crank was great shape replaced all the seals though cause it was smoking heavy but found it was because was running rich but all that’s all set fires up and idle great n rev is good just not picking up power band I’m thinking maybe the air filter n lid hope I figure it but if any ideas I’d appreciate it
Did you see what was stamped onto the con rod? Looks like the original was replaced.
Many thanks to all the Blaster fans! I'll be getting another Blaster! Nice vid 👍
I may trade a good Mojave for one Less moving parts.
The spring that is broken goes around the kick start gear it almost just clips on.. It locates in the casing in the hollow just below where the return stopper is. When not located or broken the gear does not slide out to engage the idler gear. 2 problems 1 solution
I just got a 97 kx 80 and it had a bad head gasket I went to take the head off, should have been easy. This things were so tight took me a hour and heat. I don't know how they didn't strip out
Finally please do a build
impact guns strip bolts!!!, i’m guessing here but my first check before taking the engine out would have been checking for a misaligned shift drum
Ok so spring lodged in gear drum .... got to take that trans out and check for missing teeth on gears. looks like it’s had a bottom end rebuild and kick return spring has broken up and lodged in gears or was left there. this happened on my 490 got between the gears and case and popped the engine case so i’d check that for cracks round the kickstarter area as that’s a lot of metal to be floating around in the trans.
Make sure the ball doesn't fall out behind the push rod for clutch
Yep I made sure to get it out before it got lost lol
That's the shift drum that broke and it's stuck in a way where it can move just a little back n 4th
That spring is from the shift shaft, it's like a bevel spring that keeps shifter stationary between shifts.
got to love the blasters good quads
You’ve got something jamming or in the groove of the gear selector drum
My blaster was near mint with lots of aftermarket stuff done to it..it always started first kick
Hey 2vintage can you help me out with my 2002 blaster I put and new top end on it and it’s still not turning on so if you can please help me out with my 2002 blaster
Merry Christmas to you and your family bud...
Bored it out to a 260 she will be a beast
Stock blaster cylinder can't be bored to a 260 cc. You will need a 240 kit and a stroker crank to even come close...
@@kernelbadness and then you still won't reach 260cc!
@@kernelbadness I love how some people think you can just “bore” it over to make it bigger😂😂 bore that shit right into the coolant jackets while your at it
Merry Christmas to all and all a good rip.
There's two big chunks missing out the shift drum
That’s how they come... I thought the same thing til I found out
moving on up i see. first video with a work bench
Where did u get ur case splitter link?
The way you say bags gets me
You were going to put those cases back together without fixing the problem... Those pieces of Metal came from somewhere, which means that all them gears have to come out So you can fix the problem... Which you did figure out..
I have the same problem any gear working
yes the legend the yamaha blaster!!
About time. Blasters are so much fun.
What kind of flywheel puller is this?
You have the $90 eBay special cylinder and piston nice job
Ooh love a blaster 🔥
Well I ask for a yamaha blaster and 2 vintage has gave me the vid thank you for doing that best UA-cam by far 😁
Hey, If anyone sees this and knows anything, I’m just wondering what a good bottom end rebuild kit is for an 09 rmz 250. Is hot rods rebuild kits any good?
Nice vid Merry Christmas
Joe pull them pins out of the shift forks and the transmission will come right apart
I love the yamaha blasters not the new ones but the more older ones
I used to have a '94
question for all you people out there, can a Yamaha blaster motor be Bolted onto a Yamaha rt 180 roller, after I blew my cylinder I've been looking for ways to get 1990 rt 180 back up and running, any ideas or suggestions are greatly appreciated
Best quad ever made
There's like 4 of these for sale in my town for like 800 bucks each and they all run
New spring reason why you can’t fit it together probably was rebuilt one time then the spring broke on the kicker so they took the side case off an put a new spring on it but didn’t do it right reason why it only works when it catches I just wonder how it made it there though good video though
Shift can toasted ahahah if u take it apart the best way to install is to put the trans gears and shift can together then put it all in at once
Yeah I found that out. Tricky to get it to all go in at once.
I actually really needed a video to fix this issue on mine
I had a blaster that would shift so I took it all apart and whoever built it didn’t make sure the trans bearings were seated right so when the case bolts tightened up the trans would completely lock up
Yeah that's a pretty common problem with the blasters
