    That’s a great new life for a lowly Hawk Hill. Bet it rides like a dream.

      Thanks. It sure does. Agreed that even though the Hawk hill wasn't a top offering of Marin at the time, that doesn't mean it's any less fun or practical in its new capacity.

    The Build of Marin Hawk Hill is absolutely impressive and awesome. Warm greetings from "The White Monument", The Special Territory of Ngayogyakarta Hadiningrat (Yogyakarta), Indonesia.

    Great build looks purposeful. I have the same if not similar bars on one of my bikes think they're called dark angels

    Some bikes just look 'right'. Nice job. Really like those bars - would love to know what type/style they are?

      I appreciate your kind words. I do try to respect the original geometry and aesthetic while modernizing the functional aspects. The bars are new old stock downhill bars from the 90's. I have a few up on my shops website if you are interested. Check the links in the bio.

    I love everything except the shifter and rd.

    • @TheUndeadMechanic
      @TheUndeadMechanic  Рік тому +1

      One of the best aspects of these frames is that they allow for such variation that they can be tailored to meet most individuals' needs. The friction shifter with this RD works perfectly well in this application. Super simple urban commuter with an emphasis on reliability. If the clients priority is more performance oriented, then the entire transmission will be assembled to suit with a higher gear count, trigger shifter, and a different gear ratio to match the application. What would your preference be?

    Hello , what You think about a Muir wood model for put some money ? , maybe same year like your build.

    • @TheUndeadMechanic
      @TheUndeadMechanic  2 роки тому +1

      The Muirwood is similar to the Hawk hill in that it was not the highest model back then but that is comparing it to top end race models of the day. To build it into a daily urban commuter or a weekend bike for short forays into the wilderness without doubt its worth it.🙂👍🏼

    Hello sir, may i ask what's the size of the Headset that you installed? And it is a standard size or not? Thankyou in advance sir

    • @TheUndeadMechanic
      @TheUndeadMechanic  Рік тому

      Maybe i am misunderstanding the question but the headset measure is not determined by me, the headset is determined by the frame and fork. There were a few different standards during this era. The most common being 1" threaded or ahead system, and 1 /8 thread or ahead. There were a few odd standards in between but the majority were these two. The frame's headtube will have an inner diameter to match either 1" or 1 1/8. The fork will correspond with the frame in size and determine which system, either threaded or ahead.
