If Sony played it cards right, this could be PlayStation's Mario. Ratchet and Clank is riding it but, yeah, the way Nintendo does Mario these days, this could be a contender depending on Sonys marketing, merchandizing, etc

As for astro bot,it is abnormally and otherworldly better than all mario games combined.
Actually original and inspired and purely groundbreaking
Ratchet will always be there and kill any possible contender as it is THE best platformer to date
And astro bot so far is the new overpowered and gold young blood
@@ShuiMaltov I agree, I do. But, sales figures say otherwise. Merchandise sales show otherwise. The videogame crash nearly ended gaming period and I think the only real reason there's such a high respect for Nintendo, even though they're ruthless in their business tactics, is because they found a way to revive that and because they were the first to do that, EVERYONE had a Nintendo in those days until Sega decided to step up and challenge them. NEC was there but didn't want it bad enough. So, no matter what our opinion of Mario might be, because I agree with you, I think it's the same story repeated and then repeated again in Zelda, Mario in pop culture is leagues beyond anything else because of Nintendos status, what they've done for the industry and to quote Sega: "Nintendo had to take something from nothing and make it into an industry again (against all odds and severe criticism) and they did it well, they did it very well." Credit given where credit is due, brother
@@ShuiMaltov What Mario has on Ratchet is consistency of both the gameplay quality and storytelling, which while extremely simple, is so by design and tends to benefit from it. Afrer it's original run of classic PS2 games, Ratchet & Clank has been marred by not only subpar spinoff-titles, but also stagnating gameplay formula and weird storytelling choises, that by this point have completely divorced the series from from it's original identity and personally I can't say the preschool tier comedy and drama writing of last two games just doesn't live up to what the series would have been at its peak. And I'd say even at its peak, Sly was still overall the standout franchise out of the PS2 scrimblos.
And as brilliant of an introductory game as Playroom was for PS5, as a franchise Astro is too much of a newcomer to be compared to the classics, especially as Astro's big comeback game here isn't even out yet.
@@ShuiMaltovratchet and clank is great, I've played most of them, but I don't think they're 'mascot' material. They're a little too....grown up imo. I think Mario worked so well because of it's simplicity. You want something incredibly simple and eye catching, which astro bot is perfect for. Same with why sonic was so appealing. If the first sonic games were some globe trotting RPG, it wouldn't have been the same
