Just get the Steeldive 1970, it is just as good as everybody says! Have used mine A LOT after I got it! Bought mine on sale for around $75, awesome value!
Ben Nevis review here, after 2 years with my BN-3010G diver. I can assure is the best bang for the buck. Cheap and affordable can be used in the pool and in the job site, does not let you down. That allows me to kept my Citizens safe and sound for the future.
i've probably watched 10-15 of these videos and the fact that you keep it new and interesting and entertaining year after year is emblematic of your superior content creation... kudos to you, sir... cheers! p.s. a favorite aliexpress watch of mine is the 1st gen sea-gull ocean star. a real hi-beat dive watch that's now fairly affordable since they have come out with a "new" version within the last 12 months. thanks jody! cheers!
San Martin is worth every penny. The BGW9 lume on my SN021 is still going very strong after a few years. Pt5000 at +1s/d since day two, after a little nudge of adjustment. Indestructible sapphire, too. I bumped it hard a few times, where flat crystals would just explode, and there is nothing on the San Martin. Highly recommend.
Just bought the Baltany Pilot chronograph because I’ve been binging this channel for the last 2 months. Got it on sale for 30% off and now I’m itching to get the San Martin Original design GMT. I’m so glad I got introduced to this channel
Picked up a amzwatch's watch as my first watch last month and I’m absolutely in love with it. Perfect size, looks elegant, very comfortable. Now my only problem is holding off from buying more watches so quickly!
Hmmm…Sir I believe you’re more of a Sith Lord to us than Jedi Master, taking us down the Dark Side... To which I will gladly follow… Looking forward to your SM Top 5!
I stopped purchasing from Aliexpress after their anniversary sale. Sellers instead of sending what I ordered were sending any old junk they had lying around the warehouse. Sometimes they didn't send anything at all, but still expected to keep my money. Most used the same courier, who only works with Aliexpress, so is basically a subsidiary, and the courier refused to deliver. Having refused to deliver the courier also refused to update the tracking to show the package as undelivered. Aliexpress offered zero buyer protection, instead backing up the thieving sellers and courier. The final straw was when I did not receive an item, had resorted to threats of legal action to extract a confession from the courier that they had not delivered, only to have Aliexpress acknowledge I had not received anything, but only issue a partial refund. Caveat emptor.
Use watchdives then, never had a problem with them, although saying that, I have never had a problem with aliexpress, alibaba or dhgate, any item not delivered I always got a full refund.
I appreciate how at last someone is finally speaking of the irregular reliability of this seagull movement. For years all praised the 63, but few were talking about the failure rate or service cost for a Venus chrono movement, well done sir.
No fancy ones for me this year - just a Bobo Bird LED watch in brown wood. Have bought two of these as gifts and both recipients have loved them. Must be nice to deal with scratches on your watch with Old English Oil! Also in both cases, the people I bought them for said the watch was bright enough to see in most lighting conditions. Time for one for me!
Nice to see some Seagull watches in there, I recently picked up 2 in the last sale , the new 819.415 in white and the Bauhaus 40mm with the St 2130 both beautiful watches with nice movements
Thanks Jody! I been eyeing this "Agelocer" brand for a while and same reason the movements looks amazing in the photos. Appreciate you going to effort of reviewing these. Lookin forward to it!
Mido just put out a TV case watch with a tv test card dial not too long ago, the TV Big Date S01E01 (wink wink). It was limited to 999 pieces. Very cool to see that fun idea spreading in the affordable, non-limited market.
I bought myself the Thorn bronze Fifty Fathoms-a-like in the last Choice day sale, looking forward to picking it up. The new San Martin Pelagos-a-like GMT is pretty interesting too, especially since it's titanium. But the OG Watchdives titanium Pelagos-a-like still calls to me...
A company called mini focus makes a bullhead chrono homage that punches WAY above it's weight. It's a quartz movement, and my only complaint was the chrono dials were not resting at 0, which only took an easy reset of the movement to fix. I got it for under $15 USD delivered. It's easily the second best conversation starter i own, after the casio calculator.
Hi Jody a good selection of watches I have the first 5 from your recommendations in the past not fancing any of the other 5 so money saved till the sam martan video
Jody! The new 39mm King Seiko 1969 July release is for sale on Sakura for just over $2000 USD, virtually the same price as the new 38mm Longines Conquest. I'd love to see you do a "head to head" of the two, preferably both with the same dial colors (either white or green)!
@@ryanthomas9306 iirc its the L888 or a variant of that. yes, it is eta based, however some of the L888 variants are COSC (although I don't think the specific one on the new 38mm watch is). I'm talking retail for both watches here, I'm sure in practice we'd pay a decent amount less. What would be the right swiss movement to look for around $2k??
I know this vid's old but I gotta say - I am one who would in some cases Rather have a cheap quartz knock off of a design I could otherwise only get in expensive mechanical, so "send in the clones"! Hehe ;-) Love the channel, been a fan for ages!
Nice choices look forward to seeing some unboxings 😁 I’ve been doing digging on Ali for straps myslef, and just got a Natural Horween Chromexcel for about $20! Be interested in a Straps video on what you find ✌🏼🇺🇸
I have a Addiesdive AD2030 brown/sand color on the way. Big fan of Dune and I bought it for several reasons: Seiko mecaquartz, 36mm , and the waivy dial. I also bought a similar light brown 19mm suede leather strap to pair with it. Still on the way, so let's see. Apart from that, despite having Seikos, Hamilton, Tissot in my collection i bought a few months ago a Sanda Tank on which I use regularly. I liked it so much I bought a spare one. Cannot justify paying 3k for the "real" thing and still is a quartz.
A great presentation as always, but none of these even raised an eyebrow for me. I'm just patiently waiting for my orange fume from you this September. Then my collection will be complete. 😄
Maybe it's a Rhino, I'd not want to argue with that?! Love the 'test card' dial, but I'd prefer the UK transmitted image, brings back memories of childhood and waiting for the afternoon TV programmes to start after school? In my later life, I work for a company that made/supplied professional/studio TV equipment, I then understood what the purpose of the 'Test Card' actually was!
I happen to have a Thorn BB58 clone I got for around $120. Also picked up a Benyar Milgauss clone for about $70. My dad liked the Thorn so much, he asked me to get one for him. The bracelet leaves a lot to be desired, but with an NH35, sapphire crystal, and a ceramic bezel for $120, it's worthwhile to pick up a different bracelet or strap. The Benyar isn't much. A Chinese NH35 clone powers it. cool looking, but has a jangly bracelet with hollow end links. It's alright for the money, but $70 might get you something better. Oh well, you win some, you lose some with Chinese watches - and this is a good way to see how a Milgauss would look on me.
That Thorn has a great case plus a decent dial and nothing beyond that. The crystal has ugly blue coating and distorts the view, the bracelet is extremely difficult to size, the clasp is simply crap and the hands are too big and of a different color than the print on the dial. I put mine on a strap and changed the hands to something more svelte, but the crystal does still bother me. I also hate the ghost date, but I will not be changing the movement since the watch came with a fairly good copy installed.
I love my Steeldive SD1970 and SD1953. I tried to buy a "Sea-Gull" 1963 from just the store you recommended, and it arrived DOA. During Choice Day, it was only $70 with coins and coupons, but I need to return it for a refund tomorrow.
Pagani Speedy actually went up in price during this "sale" The cheapest version on the canvas strap went from 71,77€ to 72,33€ and the one on the bracelet went from 80,10€ to 80,81€ The listing linked under the video was already more expensive than that to begin with, but both versions are from the official Pagani Design store. I'd still buy it because of the codes if it wasn't for the obvious business strategy behind it. Very disappointing
I have the bronze Boderry and it's great. The leather strap however is two pieces of leather sealed together with an edging strip and after 3 months of wear the edging strip has come away in a couple of places and the two pieces separate. A bit of glue has fixed it for now. It's a shame because the strap itself is great with the matching and branded hardware. The watch also looks good on the green NATO.
Hi Jody, great video and having watched so many of your videos, I always wonder how you keep it fresh. You are still my favorite watch channel on UA-cam. I have a query for you about a San Martin model SN048-G which was a Panorai homage with a submarine on it. 44mm I believe. I didn't get one when the were first available and I kicked myself when I saw they disappeared. Do you know if they will bring back this model? Can you ask them?
I have several Willards from different brands. Are they all made in the same factory? Does Any brand have aligned indices on the dial? Responses will be appreciated.
I was thinking about getting the Timex Expedition North just because I wanted to try a titanium watch but I was putting it off because it felt somewhat expensive for something that was just going to be a trial run. My wallet felt safe until you showed that Boderry. I mean, come on, this came just in time.
Just a caution to any fellow darker-skinned enthusiasts who are tempted by salmon dials - check it against your skin tone first. More than once I've been burnt by a dial that looks great in the hand but on the wrist morphs into an offputting shade of raw flesh.
I was excited until the last watch because I was thinking I might get away with not buying a watch. But that last one is absolutely insane. I’m sure its quality control is weak at best, (inconsistency and a 2 year life expectancy is fairly typical) but the price is nuts.
I wanted to go for the Bullhead GMT, but your link for it (#6) is for another watch. It is for the SM, the same as the link for the #5 ?? ... .so, no go. Please check it.
I bought the last one about a year ago, paying a little bit extra for the swan-neck regulator, but the chronograph failed VERY quickly, insofar as the ‘Stop’ button no longer works. The only way to stop the chronograph is to press the ‘Reset’ button.
Another watch reviewer “thewatcher”, had the red star bullhead in hand for an unboxing and the clasp is a cheap pressed. The rest of the watch seemed pretty solid. (Bracelet retro 60s, 70s jangle).
Bought the Cronos deep-sea homage and it's running super fast wonder if I need to demagnetize. Don't want to send it back as I saved 100 bucks in the sale.
on the agelocer specs you showed it says 80 hours pr the star wheel uses a modified miyota 8000 movement. theres one factory in china that makes these and are sold by different brands. i have the aventurine dial sold by oblvlo for abt 170$.
Im super interested in a couple watches from a brand called Farasute. Higher in price but they look very nice. BTW, I have the TV dial sea-gull and I'm really liking it.
Jody, you mentioned that these AliExpress watches use Seiko movements. Can you confirm they are genuine Seiko movements, or are they copies of genuine Seiko movements? Where are the movements manufactured these days?
Could you please do a “special for Brazilian watch collection”? Basically anything bellow $50 USD, because any over this value are heavily taxed (92%) 😢 I just got an Addiesdive GMT (quartz) but the bracelet is annoying to resize (pins) and have no dives extension and the mineral crystal is less reflective than sapphire of my other watch, but feels too plastic. My old 2 years old pagani airking have a better bracelet, I may use it on the Addies since both watches use basically the same case.
They should do the TV version with the test card and the little girl with the doll and the black board ( You have to be British to understand this ) :)
I've never heard that movement called a "star wheel" although I can see why. I always heard it referred to as a Wondering Hour. Also it's my luck that the only watch I'm interested in is almost $500 lol. I love tv and cushion case watches but that's too much for a novelty AliExpress impulse buy.
I liked how you split the video into two sections with a few fresher picks. However, if what you said about the Seagull movements is true then that could torpedo my chances of getting a Studio Underd0g watermel0n in future, balls!
That ain't no bull. That's a unicorn.
I'm glad I scanned the comments because I was about to type the same thing!
It even tells you what time it is in the Azopes!
Proxima missed out on that one!
Or maybe a Rhino
Just get the Steeldive 1970, it is just as good as everybody says! Have used mine A LOT after I got it! Bought mine on sale for around $75, awesome value!
It's everything I hate about a watch aesthetically.
I dont like the logo, really puts me off however the rest of the watch is elite
They are nice for the price point. I purchased the sterile version about 3 years ago, and it's not failed me yet.
@goncaloaraujo6644 They do produce a sterile version.
Don't buy that stuff man ...
I still think it's funny that many Seiko copies, use Seiko movements.
Because they don't have the capacity nor knowledge of how to create a movement from scratch. That's why I avoid homages.
Reliability, reliability, reliability
@@ivanmejia6843Is that why the Chinese readily make tourbillion movements?
@@ivanmejia6843you don't have any idea about their capabilities brother
Why not? If you and I can buy them for about $25 each imagine how cheap they can get them in bulk

Correct, the link takes you to the wrong watch.

about the 1963, should I pick with or without gooseneck? which one is the "original" seagull movement?

That's quite the haul. Go for the gold agelocer, we see straight steel all the time. Though the steel is the better benchmark.
Have you reviewed the Sugess Moonphase with the Seagul ST2528 Automatic Movement? It's simpler and doesn't have a chronograph. Its on sale too.
I am after a San Martin 0121 titanium (pelagos homage)....do you have information on that for the sale? Price? Seller? Link?

Just a caution to any fellow darker-skinned enthusiasts who are tempted by salmon dials - check it against your skin tone first. More than once I've been burnt by a dial that looks great in the hand but on the wrist morphs into an offputting shade of raw flesh.
A bit like being Scottish - you see a lovely watch and then discover it clashes with your pale blue skin 😂
I bought a Seestern SeaQ at the last sale. Man, it's a freakin' banger!
What would you recommend for a 2-month long European trip (bus tour) for someone in their early thirties?
The link for the bull head is not correct! Which one is it?
I was excited until the last watch because I was thinking I might get away with not buying a watch. But that last one is absolutely insane. I’m sure its quality control is weak at best, (inconsistency and a 2 year life expectancy is fairly typical) but the price is nuts.
No San Martin turbine pilot watch? No Baltany explorer or 1921? Great list still
They are both excellent ones. The Baltany Explorer with the brown dial in currently one of my favourites I have at the moment.

Where do I get these AliExpress vouchers you refer to in the video?
Your video prep is unparalleled Jody. Star Wars references at the beginning, whilst wearing a Star Wars T-shirt ❤❤
The Pagani moon watch knockoff is a spec monster - big fan.
When do you buy. When the sale starts???

That Agelocer looks fantastic
The 1963 whats the difference between the one with and without the gooseneck
Unfortunately it looks like the ultimate classic, the Cadisen dress watch, is no longer available. Mine broke recently, such a shame. Banging watch.
San martin is gorgeous!
Another watch reviewer “thewatcher”, had the red star bullhead in hand for an unboxing and the clasp is a cheap pressed. The rest of the watch seemed pretty solid. (Bracelet retro 60s, 70s jangle).
I’ll have to see if the SD 1953 bronze/Great Wave is on sale.

I just got an Addiesdive GMT (quartz) but the bracelet is annoying to resize (pins) and have no dives extension and the mineral crystal is less reflective than sapphire of my other watch, but feels too plastic.
My old 2 years old pagani airking have a better bracelet, I may use it on the Addies since both watches use basically the same case.
They should do the TV version with the test card and the little girl with the doll and the black board
( You have to be British to understand this ) :)
The 190x movement looks good.
I've never heard that movement called a "star wheel" although I can see why. I always heard it referred to as a Wondering Hour. Also it's my luck that the only watch I'm interested in is almost $500 lol. I love tv and cushion case watches but that's too much for a novelty AliExpress impulse buy.
Well done
I liked how you split the video into two sections with a few fresher picks. However, if what you said about the Seagull movements is true then that could torpedo my chances of getting a Studio Underd0g watermel0n in future, balls!
Please fix the link to the Red Star bullhead GMT. Thanks!
11:26 why the back of the watch says Budapest? (Capital of Hungary)
