Thanks for the fair shake Jody, and thanks for dinner too! I cannot disagree with anything you said. It's perpetually a learning experience, so I love to see critiques other than "the logo blows". My first watch purchased at WindUp ever was also the Brew 8Bit! Amazing coincidence. I hope you and your brand continue to flourish and we meet again soon.
I really like the Islander logo. And Islander watches! Not that they're not worth it, but I'd like to see Islander prices lowered substantially. Sorry, but we're now living in the San Martin reality...
@@islandwatch I love the logo! And the specs-per-dollar can't be beat. I also love what you guys do with textures and colors. Maybe you can expand more into smaller dress watches later!
I'm so happy you met Marc and got an Islander directly from the source! I can easily imagine him 'not letting you pay' lol and you made a fantastic selection
Might sound weird but my favourite thing about this watch is the date window! I love how the date wheel is colour matched and the border colour matched to the dial text and gmt hand
1:49 Islander packaging is awful, it’s super cheap and all it does is provide excellent protection during shipping, and it’s so cheap it basically contributes nothing to that sale price of the watch so … In short it’s PERFECT 😂🎉
Very excited to have made my first long island watch purchase. Picked the black / red colourway up for this price in the Black Friday sale. Insane value indeed, and finally, I have an Islander. Thank you Jodie, thank you Marc.
I have always been fairly particular about color but when I saw the price marked down a couple months ago, all of sudden, I became very flexible about getting the green one. It's an amazing watch. It's now my daily watch. So far, after it settled initially, it's been running within +/-2 seconds per day for the last month and a half. My only complaint is the crown is a bit rougher than I expected. And my copy, the bezel is not equally tied throughout the rotation. But, In any case, I still love it!!!
The GMT complication is useless for almost everyone except maybe airline pilots or service members or liaisons abroad who want to know what time it is back home. I love Marc and his endeavors, but you can buy four equally as good watches from Ali Express for less than this one watch. Or a Glycine or almost a Hamilton. I've bought watches from Marc, but the ones I've bought held something for me. A 39mm flieger type B with my old bird, the F-14 Tomcat, and a black dial Type A. I will always support him when he comes out with something that intrigues me. He's a stand up, hard working guy with something to offer the watch community, but I hold my fire until I see MY target. I'm watching, and when he offers one, I WILL buy it.
I bought an Islander waffle gmt in his sale a few months ago and the quality is amazing. Mine has the NH34 but I don't care. The quality of the bracelet, the case , the dial is just superb. Highly recommend.
So I did pick up that green and yellow at the incredible price - and I had some rewards points to cash in as well - so I got one hell of a deal. It is everything you said it is. I will say that I found the bracelet to be a little light and the case to be a little top-heavy as a result, and my old eyes had a hard time fixing the hand precisely on a minute marker, given the use of the fractions of a minute markers. That said, for the money I paid, it is by far the best value for money watch since I bought an Erebus Origin 38.
I love islander, own 3 and I'm keeping my eyes open for the sales around black Friday to maybe grab a fourth. If any of the lighter blue/aqua colorways go for a decent drop I might convince myself I can't live without it, especially the Northports or waffles. They're just phenomenal looks for a good value to begin with, sale prices make them tough to resist.
I have the non-GMT Port Jeff and the dimensions are spot on, absolutely love the watch! The addition of the GMT does look to have beefed up thickness quite a bit though. If Mark offered it in the Caribbean Green that would be my Christmas present to myself sorted!
I bought the green one as soon as I saw the current great deal ($347 at time of writing). It wouldn’t have been my first colour choice, but at that price I could not resist. I second the comments about the minute track, but I just get around that by setting it on the 5s. Otherwise, it’s getting a lot of wrist time - really happy with this, my third Islander.
Really good deal on this one for 347 bucks I must say. Just bought myself a Zezame with the blue dial so my monthly watch shopping done. And now... the waiting game... 😊
Haha, I can totally relate! I'm WAY over-budget this month! Gonna have to try real hard not to get any watches for the next month. I'd say 2 months, but let's be real... 😄
There was something about the look of this that surprised me. The indices are a near match to a Seiko Recraft. Not a bad thing as it is a good watch. I think that what Mark gave you is the best looking of a very impressive line.
This is a thing of beauty and you an Marc are two of my favourite watch guys on YT. Period :) Our import and value added taxes in Hungary make it absolutely no-go for me but I was happy to see it nonetheless. Zs
I have the one in Red, the dial is stunning. The green, at that price, seems like a steal. Great price for a Miyota true GMT. As Jodi noted, I'd say the lum is slightly above average but not outstanding. Same about the bracelet. I have a small wrist though and the bracelet allowed me to adjust enough to get a really good fit.
Didn't know there was an automatic with that hour hand advance function. I have a quartz Seamaster that does that - brilliant for travelling and the change between GMT / BST.
I’ve been looking at this for a while Jody, but the green is the only colour I don’t like (although it would probably look better, on wrist). In the end, I just went with the Calabro full lume.
I was able to puck up the green Port Jeff for just over $300 with the 15% discount for a first time buyer. Smokin' deal! Just wish it was a 42mm. Agree on the bracelet; a bit underwhelming. Might look for a high quality jubilee replacement.
LOVELY!!! NICE watch! And the on-sale yellow on green is an absolutely classic high visibility colour scheme! There is a reason, why this was and still is used by railways all over the world I wonder, if Marc read one of my comments and took the suggestions I made about colour schemes? I LOVE IT and may have to order one, except I am on disability and cannot risk another credit payment now .... what a torturous decision!
I almost got the green one that's on sale. It's actually my favorite color for them but I broke down and got the white Range Master II he just released in collaboration with TGV.
Bought the blue variant and I loved it. Until I tried to align the minute hand to hack the movement. The markers between the 5's are challenging at best to see accurately. I wish it were a bit more conventional in that regard. Don't want to disparage Marc; I love the watch otherwise and think highly of him. But that's just my OCD manifesting. Cheers mate!
Great watch and amazing value. I own a Bulova Wilton GMT with the same movement. It was the first time I had seen a traveler GMT for under a thousand dollars. This watch really raises the bar for value.
Lovely. Really nice. Great colour. I'd have one, even if that place in my collection is already taken up by a Seiko SPB439J1, and the teal San Martin SN0116. Killer deal on the green, but the burgundy is lovely. And a real gmt.... Maybe I'm talking myself into letting the San Martin go...
Thats really nice. But I am now wearing a garmin instinct crossover and wondering if i will bother wearing any of my mechanival watches. Even considering selling the pelagos.
I have 6 Islanders and I'm very happy with them. Great value for the money. Great quality. Their customer service is excellent and much better than most. I guess that makes me an Long Island Watch fan boy😂. I'm temped to buy the green color way.
I can see why that watch is on sale. Its a pretty tough colour mix to wear unless you are a Springboks, Green Bay Packers, Norwich City supporter. Much as I like Mark and what he's doing with Islander he does seem to come up with some odd colour combinations in most model ranges. Or odd things like rubber straps with different coloured keepers to "match" the colours on the dial
I bought a watch from Long Island watches a few years back. The customer service was amazing. I had a couple of questions about the product and Marc emailed me back instantly. It's so nice to see a company that actually cares about their customers.
I like everything about this watch aside from its 13.2mm thickness, which looks disproportianate to the rest of the watch. Great review, Jody. Thanks for all your great work.
I have the blue model. Had it since it came out. Only issue; my fault, is the god awful minute marks. Not readable. Guessing he is getting rid of inventory as a new GMT model is right around the corner. I think it looks like the republic, which is a nice looking watch. Marc is a great guy, met him in Chicago. Answered all my questions, and his team is awesome.
Thanks so much for doing this Jodie! I have purchased several watches from Mark and they’re all terrific! But at 347 I just had to buy it! An absolute bargain for a 9075!
00:59 Mark rocking the Seiko SNA413, but I can't for the life of me figure out what is on his right wrist. JOMW rocking a classic small looking number...looks smaller than anything modern I can remember from 'state of the collection' videos. Help, what is it??
I’m with my friend.. not crazy about gmt’s, just too busy.. and Marc, Jody, TGV.. are my favorite watch peeps.. Teddy Baldassare and Tim from Caseback are in that bunch too.. nicest guys and knowledgeable.. I have an Islander 38 mm Batman Dual Tim.. love that caseback image of the Montauk Lighthouse.. spent some time crawling around the base for my undergrad studies.. Frank in Colorado
What not to love? It's the colour of the Australian sports team, which is perfect when you attend every international sports event. Aussie Aussie Aussie 😆
I think you can roll it back to 7PM and take it to midnight when you're advancing the date, rather than taking it 24 hours around, but no direct advancing in the middle position like most regular movements
Man, that colorway really looks terrific. Fair price, I suppose, but the clasp is a bit disappointing more than the bracelet which probably also deserve its niggle. The cheap green probably isn't for me, unfortunately. We'll see.
I like Marc, I like Long Island watches. But my $150 Chinese diver has a true 7 link beads of rice. Not a deal-breaker, but for the full MSRP it would be nice to see.

But when I received the watch, it had indeed a misaligned bezel. Upon my following request, I was told it was unlikely I'd be satisfied with any replacement watch. That was somewhat disappointing. At least the return and refund process was straightforward, but the import tax I had to pay for the watch was a loss.

We like the logo and the direction you have been going!
I'm so happy you met Marc and got an Islander directly from the source! I can easily imagine him 'not letting you pay' lol and you made a fantastic selection
Mark's integrity is part of the brand. He's a very open and honest person when it comes to his business.
Great guy. Met him in Chicago. His entire team is great.
I bought the green Port Jefferson last month. Cracking deal, with Islander paying all taxes to the uk. I paid £288 delivered.
Oh, right, I remember he offered that deal as an experiment. I wonder how it went.
They pay all taxes 😮 I’m signing up!
Might sound weird but my favourite thing about this watch is the date window! I love how the date wheel is colour matched and the border colour matched to the dial text and gmt hand
The date wheel and window are done really nicely on this one.
lmao, Mark is a straight up guy... He will be happy you reviewed one of his watches regardless of what you say. He is OPEN to learning from others...
@lgroves336
Sadly my experience says differently. I'd never buy anything from him again
He saved my life in the Korean War! Mark really is a great guy!
He delivered my baby in a taxi, underwater, with one arm, while he regulated a watch with his other!
@ I knew that! He IS a great guy!
Got my first Islander recently (at the same show as you) and love it.
Great side profile and overall proportions. Love the burgundy, which I think has lasting appeal unlike some of the more fashionable colours around.
1:49 Islander packaging is awful, it’s super cheap and all it does is provide excellent protection during shipping, and it’s so cheap it basically contributes nothing to that sale price of the watch so … In short it’s PERFECT 😂🎉
I recently bought the Islander Calabro GMT and I love it!
Very excited to have made my first long island watch purchase. Picked the black / red colourway up for this price in the Black Friday sale. Insane value indeed, and finally, I have an Islander. Thank you Jodie, thank you Marc.
And I got to meet both of you guys. But where was the dinner invite? LOL
Probably one of the most CLASSIC looking Islanders to date. Price break on that color is indeed insane!
The first Islander I really want
I have always been fairly particular about color but when I saw the price marked down a couple months ago, all of sudden, I became very flexible about getting the green one. It's an amazing watch. That is a banger of a watch. Love the dial styling.
love that the Green Bay Packers colors are the one on the sale watch! wish it were 42mm though.
A 3 time zone watch!!! my dream finally comes true, nice one.
So I did pick up that green and yellow at the incredible price - and I had some rewards points to cash in as well - so I got one hell of a deal. It is everything you said it is. Awesome value on the green and yellow one!
Insane Value! (just like the thumbnail says)

1:03 picture for the ages!

That's a beautiful watch.
I also have seen enough GMTs and integrated bracelets thank you.
The lume on that looks awesome
To be honest, It’s average over time.
Thanks for reviewing a Islander! I do wish you picked a none GMT thought!
He does make some solid watches!
Please tell me there's a collab coming 😶🌫️😶🌫️😶🌫️🫣🫣🫣🤞🤞🤞
Where did you get the T-shirt from?, it looks epic!
Finally an Islander GMT!
Love the green and gold livery. Aussie Aussie Aussie Oi Oi Oi!

The date set function is reminiscent of the Vostok Amphibia.
He has some nice stuff. Gorgeous watch.

Our import and value added taxes in Hungary make it absolutely no-go for me but I was happy to see it nonetheless.

My only complaint would be the indices. Swap those for applied markers and it would feel much more refined.
I have the one in Red, the dial is stunning. The green, at that price, seems like a steal. Great price for a Miyota true GMT. As Jodi noted, I'd say the lum is slightly above average but not outstanding. Same about the bracelet. 9:33 what is your wrist size there?
Didn't know there was an automatic with that hour hand advance function. I have a quartz Seamaster that does that - brilliant for travelling and the change between GMT / BST.
Purchased immediately.
Good thing the watch has a logo of a watch on the watch so you know you have a watch while wearing your watch.
Thanks ❤
The problem with true gmts is that in asía you have half hour time zones which makes this mechanism useless
And in North America. Newfoundland is a half hour different.
Nice-looking watch!!
I’ve been looking at this for a while Jody, but the green is the only colour I don’t like (although it would probably look better, on wrist).
In the end, I just went with the Calabro full lume.
Enjoy my Zelos 9075 GMT. Hope you had a nice visit in America Jody, your Islander watch looks great. Marc a great guy when working with his customers.
I was able to puck up the green Port Jeff for just over $300 with the 15% discount for a first time buyer. Smokin' deal! Just wish it was a 42mm. Agree on the bracelet; a bit underwhelming. Might look for a high quality jubilee replacement.

Damn I gotta make some money
I didn’t notice the bezel is bi-colored until you mentioned it!
Burgundy one is nice
I almost got the green one that's on sale. It's actually my favorite color for them but I broke down and got the white Range Master II he just released in collaboration with TGV.

So Mark won't Pay to Play, but apparently he has no problem Bartering for Bouillabaisse.... good to know.... good....to...know....😜
The only thing fishy is the soup!
It's a nice watch for sure, but I've got GMT fatigue.
I have two Islander watches, I like them very much.
Nice watch nice video.

Hi this is Jody from Just One More Watch, oh wait
So uuuhm. Am I the only one who doesn't like gmt's? I think the 4 hands are a bit too busy on one dial.
LOVE GMTs. As long as it's easy to tell the difference between the GMT hand and the others.
I can assure you, you're not alone.
I prefer them tbh but you're not alone no way!
You're not the only one. GMTs suck unless you're a traveler I guess.
Yes your the only one
Thanks so much for doing this Jodie! I have purchased several watches from Mark and they’re all terrific! But at 347 I just had to buy it! An absolute bargain for a 9075!

He generally wears one watch from another company (the Seiko, in this case), and an Islander on the other wrist.
Marc is great. Good price. Getting Jack Mason vibes, who offered this style and movement a year ago. I’ll stick with my Lorier Hyperion, however.
The bracelet looks exactly the same as the ones that come on Spinnakers.
I thought the myota 9075 had quick date set?
I think you can roll it back to 7PM and take it to midnight when you're advancing the date, rather than taking it 24 hours around, but no direct advancing in the middle position like most regular movements
Looks stunning on your wrist 😍👌
Love that look and color. Just not a fan of the logo.. Almost wish the lighthouse on the back was used on the dial instead.
Jody, When you gonna do an Erebus miyota gmt?
you can pick colour of spotonous gift watch ? lucky you
Jody was buying it, and Marc turned it into a gift. "He wouldn't take my money" - I expect Jody genuinely expected to pay for it when he picked it.
What a time to be a watch collector who could stop buying watches anytime he wants...
Green & Yellow - John Deere edition!
'Straya! Green and gold!
so is the watch chunky ?
You gotta love Marc and he's done a great job with this one. I wish him well.
@3:10 Miyota makes the ugliest rotor but that's a great price on a gmt
Reminds me of the Jack Mason.
i'll be happy to talk about a gifted watch also, thank you
My first thought was it looks a lot like the SM SN0116.
Not a bad looking watch but a little too busy for me.
I see what you mean. Actually, thinking about it, the 116 is far more of a skin diver than this one is.
Anything Islander is great. But that sure is a steal.
What Chinese watch do you have?
I always had a high opinion of Islander watches due to their customer service and the remarkable absence of QC issues until recently. I ordered an Islander ISL-18 watch, and I specifically asked for a quick pre-shipment check of the bezel alignment, which was confirmed by Marc himself. But when I received the watch, it had indeed a misaligned bezel. Upon my following request, I was told it was unlikely I'd be satisfied with any replacement watch. That was somewhat disappointing. At least the return and refund process was straightforward, but the import tax I had to pay for the watch was a loss.
Fellow Green Bay Packer fans, converge!
The one on sale could easily be a "Springboks" edition! 😂
When the video first flicked through the colour options I thought 'Ooooo, that Brazil one looked really nice'...and then I find out it's on sale. I need to maybe have a word with Mrs Santa and find out if I have been a good boy.
If I've been a bad boy, I will have to figure out a way of getting to New York and buying Mark a nice meal.
