- In today's vid, I'll be flying out the P-38L-5-LO, which sits at 4.7 in Both the USA and Chinese tech trees.
The P-38 Is a great plane, but it is very awkward to fly, being the size and shape that the airframe is. Getting guns on target is difficult, but the plane is an excellent energy fighter, and won't have an issue making multiple passes.

Hey mac, how do you go about honing your skills? I know practice, but how do you make that practice instructional or worth it, if that makes any sense?
This is a great question!
It’s just a lot of trial and error in battles, what works, what doesn’t, etc.
Another huge part of my process is knowing how the plane im fighting performs. You absolutely need to know how to fight by using your enemies weaknesses against them, and avoid fights that utilize their plane’s strengths.
Knowing how to fight specific planes also comes with experience.
I make a very quick breakdown of performance categories:
Speed, maneuverability, climb, energy retention, and in some cases, the planes armament.
Whatever my plane does better, I use that in my fight against the enemy.
I might make a short video later further explaining how I approach fights in general.

Great vid man! Feels just like watching defyn's older videos all over again but with updated videos, which i absolutely adore.
The P-38L! Probably my absolute favorite american figther in rank 3. The airspawn combined with the competitive performance and great guns makes it probably one of the only american fighters who can actually put pressure on the enemy climbers, and a lot of people get surprised when i can hang with a lot of other fighters in a dogfight with it's magic flaps. I'm also a bit of a MEC connosssieur myself, and this aircraft has perfect controls for me, i can leave the radiators open just enough that they hit the 91 and 121ºC limit, i don't have to worry about prop pitch, and mixture barely changes anything so i just leave it.

Nice flying. After 10 years of playing WarThunder I've just given the 38 ago, tier 2 ones are great. The tier 3 ones are great also, but ive had alot of trouble dealing with VL Poms, cos of there insane climb rate. And about 5-8 Wyverns attacking me during my climb.
Cos you fly so well I suggest you try both the tier 2 BF110s. Abit of a challenge but ive done really well in both.

Some people get target fixated and they forget to look around. I've been guilty of that myself from time to time, they see the prize but they always see is when your most vulnerable is when your about to shoot.
only problem i have with the the 38L is it accelerates so quickly in a dive I always forget about the kinda low rip speed 😭
Yeah I got close to ripping in this thing so many times that I set a new key bind to instantly 0% throttle lmao.

In the p 38 manual the manuver setting is 50% flaps down it can handle this out to 250 indicated that is over 400mph at 25000 ft

This is way better. The 3.3 when uptiered, really suffers, IMO.
Yes, the P-38L is the best. It has boosted control surfaces and an air brake, and can equip secondary weapons. It also has a good flight model for 4.7.
there are situations you would rather be in the G and there are some where you'd rather be in the L
