In 1968, the young Puerto Rican musician José Feliciano put out his arrangement of Light My Fire, a song Doors had just released a year before, and it put him on the musical map permanently.
His combination of Latin Jazz, Flamenco, Classical, Blues, and soulful singing grabbed music lovers across the country.
This lesson goes into his percussive accompaniment, the jazzy chord shapes, his iconic introduction with a flashy lead lick, and even touches on the syncopated outro a bit.

Jose turned that song into a piece of art.
One of the best solo concerts I ever saw was José Feliciano, in the 1980s. Thanks for offering this lesson, it is one of the best rearranged cover songs I’ve ever heard.
This song always inspired me to learn how to play the guitar .
Jose is still going and his version is awesome!
Great Job Neil!! Thank You! Musician/Artist USA- ThomMeinert
Es el sonido más dulce y bonito de esta canción de los Doors y que Feliciano popularizó. Gracias tocas muy bien y bonito
Great teacher , thank you
In your lesson, do you also include the fast solo lead in the break?
You play well and seem impressed with your own talent. Cut your intro head & mouth out in the intro... you will then have more subscribers.
I went to the Brevard Zoo (Florida) yesterday with church families & grandchildren for my 71st birthday. The many retired, professional career zoo volunteers served everyone in humility, maturity & intelligence (vis., no trying to impress). That truly impressed me more than the spectacular animals and environment!
Same thing applies to our grandchildren. Choose words carefully, PRACTICE humility, give freely of your talent & wisdom.
Great Work. But jose don't "click" on those upper chord (for lucky..)
In the full paid lesson Do you teach the solo rapid lead break that he does?
Not the later lead, which was improvised and always different, but the intro is shown accurately.
@@TGAcousticLessons Yes but I’m referring to the original album break solo lead which is the best. Disappointment if you work it out please let me know I know you have the talent
Where is the lesson?
If I buy the lesson will it include that quick flamingo style solo in the break?
Flamenco?
@@TGAcousticLessons Is that not Jose Feliciano’s background in guitar among other styles? That’s what it sounds like to me
@@TGAcousticLessons Yes flamenco! you know how these microphones don’t always get it right
You never know maybe he learned by watching flamingos. 😄
@@TGAcousticLessons I know it would be quite a feat watching flamingos when you’re blind
I’ll buy the lesson if I could download it onto my computer so I could watch it whenever I can. Also do you do the solo break?
Our lessons are not downloadable, and this lesson includes his intro solo but not the break.
What type of strings are you using
I usually use D'Addario E-17, medium gauge phosphor bronze.
Neil
what's the tuning for it ?
standard
I don't think that I like this except from the lesson. Jealously guarded the "secret" of playing solo , tells me that listening you is a waste of my time.
Chords???
Everything is covered in the lesson.
I never get anything from this guy, quite frankly
So what are you looking for...?
