      A Man Has No Body
I think the purpose of the post is the stereotyping of groups. White armed people in large groups are called “militia.” Minorities would be labeled as “gangs” or even “terrorists.”

    • @amanhasnobody3415
      @amanhasnobody3415 4 роки тому +10

@@finris1 yes, but that skirmish wasn't a confrontation between a group of militias or gang or whatever you call it, it was between a single man(who is branded as a militia) and a violent mob of protestors. It was the protestors that first attacked him with a skateboard and jumped on him. He even back away but they chased him down, beat him and even threated to kill him.
Also, according to my knowledge of US law, the difference between militia group and gang is that one participates in illegal activities while the other abide under the constitution and operates within the confines of the law.

Hey Trevor, thank you for everything you and your team are doing. I'm from New Mexico and the history of that statue and the conquistador Oñate is worth going into. The man was considered a brutal overlord even during his own time and was famed for cutting the feet off of rebellious native americans. About ten years ago there was a problem with the statue getting its foot cut off. Apparently that foot showed back up during all of this recent protest. I've always hated how much New Mexico glorifies the conquistadors. I understand they are part of hispanic heritage but just like the confederate statues they are a symbol of oppression to many people. Keep up the good fight and stay safe. Love you!

The Maven It’s less about “bitching” and more about the fact that companies still only product products for one skin color. That implies they don’t care about the other skin colors. Or dont value them as customers. I have tan skin but I never realized that bandaids were supposed to be skin colored. I’m sure some of us don’t care if the bandaid matches our skin, but what if your black, treated differently by some ppl, have experienced racism from overt to people walking across the street when you’re walking down it, seen unarmed black men get mistreated (and sometimes die) at the hands of police for no reason, so it’s just one more thing seeing your hair care products aren’t under beauty but “ethnic” and locked up, and no one cared about offering your skin color in products. Until Rihanna launches Fenty three or so years ago, brown and black women had 10% of the selection lighter skinned women did. It’s the whole picture, not the individual issue. It’s one thing after another.

Many of the Hispanics in NM hold extremely antagonistic views to Native Americans (despite also having on average about 30% Native American geneology). This is a battle about white supremacy that dates back to 1680, when the Native Americans kicked the Spanish out, only to be reconquered 12 years later. The shooter was pretty clearly a white Hispanic with the very common name Baca.
So, like… yeah, NM been playing this undercurrent of white supremacy game for a very long time relative to the rest of the country. So long, that as mentioned, the white supremacists are now pretty much universally at least 1/4th the geneology of the very group they claim to be superior to.

New mexico, faces a complicated reality when it comes to celebrating its cultural heritage. The New Mexican myth celebrates cultural blending of hispanic, indigenous and anglo-american cultures, but also deploys a rhetoric that overstates the legacy of conquistadors and Spain. Terms such as "spanish architecture" are applied to what was actually Pueblo architecture used by colonial subjects. The "spanish market" in Santa Fe showcases craft traditions that were developed by the people of New Mexico and not by the people of Spain. The insistence on emphasizing Spain over New Mexico stems from a quiet form of white supremacy that leads some mixed race New Mexicans to distance themselves from indigenous cultures and other hispanic americans - their closest relatives. We're seeing a sector of hispanos that is desperate to make room for itself in a country where systemic racism might challenge their legitimacy as part of the fabric of america.

They locked them up in utban areas because theft in those areas is high not because they were "black products". It is the same reason why nicer stores are nit usually in urban areas, shrink is too high.
In Detroit Meijer and Kroger absolutely refused to have stores in the city for the longest time because they were robbed blind all the time. Meijer did open a store near the Detroit river and it is one of the highest shrink stores in the company. They now have a ton of armed security in that store to deter theft.
They do the same thing with condoms, baby formula, cologne, video games, ink cartridges and fishing supplies. Small, expensive and easy to conceal in a bag or coat = high shrink. This has nothing to do with these being black oriented products and everything to do with preventing shrink.

A significant portion of those people who want to help in some form. Shirts are a relatively simple and cheap way for people to help others and support various causes. These same group of people would probably have better network connections, access to capital, factors of production then myself or a good amount of the people here. Plus this isn’t an original thought meaning others with previously stated means will also come to this conclusion and act on it. Cant help who steals them but you can lock them up so save loss in profits. Some people should get a backbone because i dont complain when i see locked up rings and video games in locked cases... If Walmart has this policy in place because these items are stolen often, why change the policy now? Why publicly announce it? The moment Walmart implemented these policies it was a slap in our faces. The moment Walmart locked the products, it was a slap in our faces. The moment Walmart decided to "publicly" announce that we are now worthy of being treated equally as those who purchase Head 'n Shoulder, it was a slap in our faces. Now to add insult to injury, pretending to jump on the BLM bandwagon by taking public actions to unlock bottled precious liquid gold and creams, because
we can be "trusted" but on the other hand, insinuating people of color are thieves.
It would actually be less insultive to just remove the products from the shelves all together. Because all eyes will be on those shelves the moment a person of color decides to walk through that aisle.

Walmart in Denver removed black hair products from locked glass a few months ago because of news coverage by a black reporter. Instead, they put them behind the cashier in the beauty supply area, and you have to wait in a long line just to tell the cashier that you are going to go behind them to look at hair products.😂

@Ad Mc I watched Ali box all the time. He did dance like a butterfly and sting like a bee. You may think he didn't do anything, but I remember how hard he fought to be respected and free to make his own choice of religion and life. That is remarkable and newsworthy. My Dad was a pentecostal minister and while he was saddened that Ali chose Islam, he endorsed his right to choose. Shouldn't we all? Our ancestors did some bad, very bad things. Ali wanted to act on his rights as a man, he deserved to. We all do. Our ancestors forced behaviors onto slaves and each other. A hostile environment was created for anyone who didn't bend to the mainstream beliefs. That mainstream culture became the very oppressors that we see today. Ali, what did he do? He made me understand how hard a struggle can be. He came back too. No longer Cassius Clay, but the man who loved his children and led a change that needed to happen. I cried when I had heard he died. It was like a bridge from the past into the future had suddenly collapsed. Colin is a person who rebuilt that bridge. We still have it because he had what it takes to kneel and demand his rights. Try being the first person to kneel on a football field while the World watches so that you can act on the rights you have. People live in fear of acting on their own personal beliefs and interpretations. Colin is a hero to me, just like Ali. So proud to have them live in the United States. Through all of this shit we are going through, I keep my eyes on the gold. Colin is gold, just like Ali.

    • @alleyviper277

@point blank exactly this. At the beginning of retail nothing was locked up. Over time and during inventories and research they came up with a list of items that were stolen more than others. They started to lock these up. It has nothing to do with them being racist, they just locked up the things that were stolen the most, it was a bottom line business decision. Video games were locked up. Shaving razor blades were also locked up. Shit that was stolen a lot, locked up.

They're not kept in storage in the back some where. They are in the isle, right next to the white hair care products but, they are behind cages or glass doors. They are closed off. You have to find an employee to unlock it for u.
All while the white ppl shop freely with ease, We have to stand there and wait for someone to hand us the product because we are not allowed to touch it on the shelves.

@point blank #leopold It depends on the neighborhood, because in mixed neighbors in Kentucky, they didn't lock up the products. Also in Chicago, in some predominately Black neighborhoods Wal-Marts, Walgreens, etc. they don't lock them up, because we don't steal the products. You just need to know your customers, because everyone Black doesn't steal.

I spent 2 hours in Wal-Mart one night trying to get a 65 inch Samsung. After calling them and they confirmed they had the t.v.. It was 12a.m. so hardly nobody was in the store and 2 hours later i come out with a 45inch Vizio. This little old lady was working electronics and couldn't get any of the younger guys to help her. 🤦🏾shit was sad my husband offered to help her get it but we all know he couldn't.

The statue of liberty is not in honour of a particular person but of a concept (I honestly thought this was self explanatory). However, It wouldn't be a bad thing if it did dissolve because we would have to intentionally revisit the concept and test whether it still rings true.
