Maybe I'm seeing this in a little different light but I also feel like there was a sense of acceptance and humility in admitting that he was wrong... Not just in denying that THERE was actually still good in him but that he also indirectly admitted that he was wrong when making those mistakes and turning to the dark side to pursue power, status, while he was dealing with his worries about saving Padme.
I mean, who doesn't watch Episode III and wish and think everytime that Anakin would just kill Sidious or expect a different outcome each time you watch it... And that there would be resolve long before all the heartache... However, it wouldn't be worth watching if there was no conflict... (Granted not many people enjoy the JarJar trilogy as it is)

In 1977, nobody could’ve possibly imagined that they would ever cry at the death of Darth Vader. In 1980, nobody could’ve possibly imagined that Luke - ready to destroy Vader - would ultimately hold Vader in his arms as he died, promising not to leave him. Yet thanks to all the subtle hints and the gradual development of their relationship in this film, we buy it completely. And we do cry.

Haven't thought about it that way. It really great, and has such a great message, too - hold off killing as much as you can, because killing also harms (corrupts) the killer, and people thought to be "evil" and corrupted forever, can sometimes be saved.

Please come to the REAL warzone when the enemy attacks you, when you know that if you don't kill him/her, they will kill not only you but also your brothers-in-arms and civilians (after raping, looting and torturing them) - and try say this BS. No, killing doesn't corrupt soldiers who ONLY took arms to defend their home and the defenceless people behind them. It's easy to be naive and ''peace-loving'' until the war actually knocks on your door. You live a very sheltered life. Btw, we Ukrainians give russians multiple chances to surrender and we treat POWs well unlike russians who starve, torture, rape and murder POWs and never give anyone chances. They practically told Anakin to forget about his mother when knowing he was very emotional. They faked Obi-Wan death and deceived Anakin. They unjustly banished Ahsoka from the Order. Everything is perfect in this scene. When we expected a monster behind this mask, we saw an old man with a compassion to his son in his last breath. Lucas told the same message several times in SW. Yoda was small, looked harmless but he was powerful. This is the message that Lucas keep telling through SW. Look behind apperances, because there is more than you see. This scene and Vaders funeral with and amazing shot of Luke in Yavin are the best. These scenes gave me the feeling of turning the pages in an epic story book. Sometimes only one person is enough to save you and this person was his son for Vader.

I'm of the belief that Anakin always wanted to be a father. Despite his seeming concern when Padme mentioned that she was pregnant, which was based more on his visions of her demise than apprehension about being a father, I can picture Anakin, who doubtless would want to give a child a better life than the one he received, as being as good a father as he was a husband. It also makes you realize how opposed in his heart he was to his own murder of children, to think that all he wanted was a child of his own. The regret at his deeds and the long-awaited chance to have what he always wanted must have weighed the heaviest on him at his death.

That his chance of meeting his children after their birth was lost due to his embrace of the dark side. But his moment of meeting them and their teens became short and brief. Although Princess Leia is his daughter without knowing and the young rebel is his son who will save him from what he has become to be.
After Vader knew that that girl was a daughter. And this news stirred the intense shock in Anakin and he felt regret later for what he had done to her previously.

Yes, I don't like when people excessively hate on prequel Anakin being whiny or annoying... he was a former child slave, who had to leave his mother enslaved on a planet run by criminals, going on to be trained by a master who never really wanted to take him on but had to because Qui Gon died, and then to top it all off, had his mother die and the jedi council pre-emptively continue to treat him as a threat because of his (justified) anger problems...
It's honestly a perfect backstory to Vader, and the fact that neither Hayden nor Lloyd came off as particularly threatening cemented just how tragic the monster he became would be -- and also just how evil and twisted Palpatine is for taking a man in need of guidance and a true parental figure, and manipulating him in a plot for power... that is such a good way to illustrate just how evil the most powerful sith really was, and makes Anakin killing him an even more beautiful moment.
It is the first time Anakin TRULY stood up against Palpatine -- the person who disabled him, stole his life, his relationship with his children, and his friendship with Obi Wan (who was not a bad man, just someone who was not prepared to deal with all the trauma Anakin had)
Anakin's story will always be my favorite part of anything Star Wars. What a great character

In the book, while dragging his father, Luke looks at the chaos now going on around him. The officers, soldiers and storm troopers are unsure of what to do next and are running without purpose, just clawing to get out of there. Luke reflects for a second that this is the result when evil's head (the Emperor) is removed. There's no inner strength within the individuals to know what to do or how to care. It's now just undisciplined chaos without meaning.

When Luke first takes the mask off, Anakin looks fearful. Now that he's with the light side again, he probably feels ashamed of the atrocities he committed that left him scarred and disfigured, and he's afraid Luke will think the same. But the moment Luke takes a look at him, his gaze is just full of love, and so Anakin relaxes too.
People always say Luke is more like Padme: thoughtful, compassionate, kind (and still hopeful on Anakin being good) whereas Leia is more like Anakin: passionate, opinionated, quick-witted and sometimes hot-headed. And I like to think that in this moment, Anakin saw Padme's kindness on Luke's eyes.

EDIT: Yes, I know he's supposed to be in his 40s, but he still has the visage of an old man. The Dark Side has drained him of his life and youth. It has taken more from him than it ever gave back.

It was a combination of using the dark side so much for a long time, which accelerated his ageing process and turned his eyes yellow.
His skin is a deatly pale titanium white because it had been confined in the suit for over a decade and not being exposed natural sunlight.
The dark can also cause the user's skin to a pale titanium white as one of the side effects of deep immersion and prolonged usage of the dark side.
Palpatine and Darth Malgus were extensive, deep dark side used and it greatly disfigured them over time.
Their eyes were a deep Indian yellow and permanent red and their skin was a deathly titanium white.
The extensive burn damage on his body from Mustafar's extreme heat were the large, deep scars on his face and head that was still healing up.

I feel really bad for David Prowse (the person who was in the suit) as George Lucas screwed him badly. George never told Prowse his voice was being replaced and only found out when he saw the film. Years later he made the accusation he was stiffed by Lucas and Lucas responded by banning him from all conventions. The thing is Prowse loves Star Wars and loved playing Vader.

@@biologydoesntlie4093 "He got married" in secret which would expel him from the Order as is, doubly (or I guess triply) so the fact he conceived the twins *while at war* would probably be seen as WILDLY irresponsible even if they didn't care about the marriage thing, which would leave no shortage of criticism on both of them all the time.
He may have been viewed as a hero by his younger Jedi brethren, but the people he cared for most constantly looked down on him or endlessly criticized him, even the master that was effectively an older brother to him.
That, and being seen as the Chosen One from the word go probably got around *rather fast* while being trained, which I'd bet was an instant turn off for anyone trying to make friends out of him when this random kid that shows up way later than anyone else is a sudden prodigy out of nowhere. Let's be frank, at BEST the guy was only ever surrounded by tough love outside of Padme, and going from literal slavery to that is not much of an improvement for his mental state.
...Also, remember, Old Republic Jedi stole children that were even remotely Force sensitive to train them. They *were* slave drivers to young Force users and Anakin was no exception. If you played Jedi: Fallen Order, there's a reason Cal does what he does by the end of that game and why Luke himself forms a completely different kind of order regardless of canon.
tl;dr on that last paragraph: A gilded cage for a bird is still a cage nonetheless.

    • @williams268
      @williams268 2 роки тому +6

@Biology doesn't lie You're correct, but remember Anakin was already "too old" when he was brought in. Most of the order didn't believe he could be trained properly. He had too much emotional baggage already and indeed it played a big part in his decision making throughout his life. His mother dying a slave and him not being able to save her scarred him forever. I think the Jedi's strict policies were occasionally too harsh on the very emotional and maybe even immature by nature Anakin. He wasn't built from the ground up as a baby to serve the temple like the others. He had other people in his life he cared deeply for, so it must have been very difficult to try and get Anakin to let go of his connections and give himself fully to the cause.
I think him being a young immature kid, he resented the order at times for their policies and especially them constantly brushing aside his fears about his visions of padme dying. Maybe if he was an infant when he was brought in, his attachments to his mother wouldn't have caused such emotional and rash action from him. Anakin could never conquer his fear of losing those close to him. That certainly doesn't bode well for a potential Jedi knight. I agree with you overall though, the Jedi did their best with what they had. The prophecy was correct though, Anakin was the chosen one and he brought balance to the force. Just not in the way anyone could have imagined lol!
Tldr I pretty much agree with you, but the council made some big mistakes with Anakin just IMO
