I dont seem to like things you do as well.. cope.
Look at Siberiano play drums
It's so funny to me that every metal musician I've ever seen is actually just the nicest sweetest guy and then their music is like DEATH DESTRUCTION BLOOD MURDER KILL EVERYTHING 😂
That's because we get all the aggression out in the practice room or the stage. The rest of the time we are zen.
It's extremely cathartic to Zen out and play some very aggressive tunes while your body is paradoxically so chilled out. You have to be relaxed to play fast so it's this weird duality of emotions going on. Keeps ya pretty chill.
it's also a lot of "I'm so hurt and i have to express myself but my mind will not produce anything else."
They're either the nicest guy, or a literal fucking racist nazi that hides their beliefs away on the internet. And Black Metal is full of these turds.
That’s how most of us are 💀
that was a strangely wholesome interaction
strangely wholesome and slightly sexual interaction
"for the goth girls"💀"blast that ass😍"💀😭"i think youreally handsome🥵"💀😭😭💀😭📸 "im tryna eat yo as-"😭📸🥵💀💀💀💀☠️
“Blast that ass.” 🤣🤣🤣
Just 2 dudes beating off.
This is the best thumbnail I've ever seen
Kevin the legend 😂
the intro is pretty good too
came here to say this

"I did a bit of jazz drumming...I have a bachelors degree in drums and percussion from my university."
I LOVE THIS MAN!!!
for only 20 dollars!!
I found out he is a brazilian and as i'm a brazilian too I can say we can work for cheap as long as it's dollars cause they have a lot of value here. Like 20 dollars would be 2 times more than the average worker receives a day in Brazil lol.
@sannanananaaa makes sense man. Can I Venmo a Brazilian like $50 for.... stuff
50$ an hour would be so much money here it would be like it would be around 270R$ an hour that is around 2k a DAY and minimum wage is 1.2k a month
@@sannanananaaa dog, I need to find a Brazilian session drummer... I got an 💡
Que Sepultura
I had no idea! Just saw the commentaries on my YT channel 🤣Thanks for this man 🤘🏻🥁👊🏻
Bro you have great skills! Great hands
Bro what double bass pedal you'd recommend for beginners.
just subbed now @willdlysouza amazing work!
@@joyful4108 Thanks brother! I really appreciate that 🙏🏻🤘🏻👊🏻
@@andrewstevens9134 Thank you very much my friend!!! 🤘🏻🤘🏻
As a previous jazz/funk drummer who moved onto progressive metal, I felt all of this...
lots of jazz/funk in prog metal.
Indeed! @@TheLeftistOwl
@@TheLeftistOwl 100% agree! There just weren't many blast beats in my jazz/funk repertoire...
Jazz and prog metal are so much of what I listen to but goddamn I can’t play either of them
🤣🥁👊🏻
Glad to see you expanding genres in the most committed (and funniest) ways possible. Metal drumming is fun, if difficult at first.
It's liberating too, blast beats are a great way to cool down lmao
@@flavio69420 Absolutely, especially gradually building up the speed to a more metal-appropriate tempo. Truly one of the most expressive genres to play drums in, as with all genres.
Great Teacher. Great student. No ego shit. Two genuinely great people that makes for a great video. ❤️
“Gimme a reason you wanna learn metal drums”
“So there are these goth chicks at the pub…”
“Say no more”
The metal guy is so gentle and humble.
Most of us are.
I am the opposite of Zack, I never knew jazz drummers were so good, but watching him made me appreciate jazz drummers. Good to not be a closed minded drummer
I grew up with a metal band like so many others, but our drummer took it really seriously and introduced us all to jazz and gospel drumming to open our eyes to other influences. Sometimes jazz and gospel drummers just destroy but in a totally different way that can be hard to process initially
"I never knew jazz drummers were so good"
Oh you can fix this instantly. Just search on YT "Nate Wood drum solo"
My bands drummer was a worship drummer for a bit and now he plays progressive metalcore (Think ABR, Protest The Hero etc.) and his dynamics are out of this world
@@mikehawkisb1g Thats really cooll!
Heck yeah. The somewhat hidden intricacies are the most important. it's so odd to jam with a drummer that understands that the little notes, and them jam with one that doesn't, you never really notice how sick it is until the barely audible stuff is gone.
So happy about the e-book ! A great way for us to support you while getting great value 👑❤️
this
what an awesome dude that teacher was
Brother, you are truly open to receive. Even when I was teaching, most of my students were gospel drummers and the moment I tried to introduced them to death metal they had all type of excuses of why they didn’t wanna go there.. i’m really glad that you keep exploring all of the possibilities after all, we are drummers.
Open to recieve. Nice
i think most people dont want to explore other genres which is a shame. like in your example its not like the gospel musicians will suddenly turn into death metal, but they will go out their comfort zone to learn new skills and a deeper understanding of what works in music and what doesnt. there is so much tribalism between genres its insane.
I would love to see Zack collab with Matt Garstka since they’re both in Tennessee now. Another jazz turned metal drummer that absolutely kills.
I’m simply Impressed how good the teachers cameras setup is
As a drummer myself I’m under the impression of you can play jazz and metal at any tempo you can play anything on drums
🤝🙂🥁🔥
lmao probably
I highly recommend you give an ear to Opeth if you'd want improvement on your techniques. Their drum work has a really good mixture of relaxed jazzy flow and intricate metal power which separates them from similar bands in the same genre.
great recommendation, cynic is also worthwhile imo
The ending for Closure is so groovy.
Probably worth suggesting a song. Deliverence probably covers a bit of everything that Opeth do drum wise.
@@olliemedsy I would recommend Harlequin Forest more than anything tbh.
@@iamscythed that doesn't have any fast double kick in, or jazzy drumming in it tbh. Mostly just groove based. The opening of deliverance has fast double kicks then the verses are kinda jazzy and delicate. The whole middle section is groovy so all bases are covered really.
8:06 why was that blast so clean tho
Cause he recorded this part after the lesson
just a quick tip for everyone practicing double-pedal consistency:
practice those grooves from weaker (left) foot, and if you want drum sheet just use snare rudiments for two hands and play them with feet on kick drum instead, simple as that :)
PS: even if you're not playing metal and not interested in double-bass at all, such excercises will help a lot with stamina and brain to play hi hat on foot along one kick drum
Please continue this practice series :D its great watching you two and seeing how he is trying to teach you while youre making silly jokes. Love the dynamic
Zack is so talented, he plays 3 people in the intro sketch and still manage to make them look so different!
You actually need to have another lesson with that dude it’s mandatory
This guy is 100% brazillian. I love it!
Man, this was so wholesome 😊
Thank you for inspiring and entertaining me through so many videos! Keep up the epicness *chef's kiss*
This reminds me when Rob scallon taught Adam Neely metal, and adam taught rob jazz. Two masters completely out of their zone gaining a new found appreciation for the other side
That was a lot of fun. Can’t wait for Lesson #2
That Groove book is the exact format ive been looking for for ages. Thank you so much
As someone that got into metal, classical and then jazz in that order as a young musician and all by the age of 15 (I'm MUCH older now) I love seeing people still discover that the top jazz and metal musicians are crazy talented.
Indeed my friend!! 🥁👊🏻🙂
Awesome. I love these crossovers with metal. Respect you both.
A drum kit just isn't a drum kit without the tangy zip of a double kick!
i knew he was brazilian just because of the accent, but when zack said that he's handsome he went like "oww que isso" @16:04 (portuguese for like "oohh come on..") - i speak english on a daily basis it i also let some brazilian expressions slip through when i'm genuine surprised by the situation
great to see a brazilian!! very kind interaction from both sides!!
o meu "que isso" foi quase um "lá ele" né? hahah And yeah, some brazilian expressions slip through, we can't help it...
Amazingly well, your videos are produced. Great job, playing and lovely positive attitude.
Dude your videos have become soooo good!! keep it up brother, im lovin it
This guy was so nice and a good teacher.
Metal heads

this would be a cool series to watch you learn more about metal. seeing your journey and discoveries along the way.
Your Drumeo episode was great. So glad you did that.
You’re awesome Zack, you got maad dedication!

Love this video, I appreciate musicians connecting and educating. 😊
I really love seeing that even though you have ridiculous skill, you're still open to learning new things and approaching them with a totally open mind. Great video!
i cant state enough how happy i am to see zack and nate's channels grow so much since 2020 😂
the pandemic was a crazy time 😭
Loved. The editing choices, cuts, humor chops, etc. Everything yes! Hope that you Zack can someday come play in Canada
Gonna go buy that ebook. Bye bye now

exatamente haha reconheci na hora tb @@fernandosalaroli3629
Esse cara é gaúcho? Pq o sotaque tá bem evidente
Ele é brasileiro? Jurava que era europeu, o sotaque é bem suéco.
When I was learning to play double bass - I used to do this thing I called 'The left foot/right foot drum off' - Start with a basic 4/4 groove - and each full measure, you swap between playing with the right foot and the left foot on the kick.
Then, start adding embellishments - might be some triplets, some 8th note grooves, then working up to some heel-toe stuff etc. The goal was to be able to play with my right foot to a point where I couldn't play with it with my left, then hold it there until I could.
"I like your feet, dude"
*silence*
"okay"
Steps to be a proper modern metal drummer:
Step 1: double bass , no rimshots and the ultimate infinite stamina cheat code: triggers, lots of triggers (you'll need them to sound powerful and consistent while blasting , bass drum must sound like the COD4 hit marker too).
Step 2: Follow step 1
Step 3: Follow step 2
That dude was so cool, and one hell of beast behind the skins. Those chops were insane, and like you said, so relaxed. I wish you would of done a reveal and told him who you were in the end and about your channel. Could of been an honest reaction from this guy.
I'd like to compliment the man's lighting, so dramatic!
you always strike the perfect balance of wholesome and hilarious content.
That guy was so fun I want a lesson from him now!
I never thought I’d see the day where the ad read was just as good as the whole video
This instructor was REALLY good imo
This video was so wholesome and fun.
The vibes of this video are unmatched

Zack Grooves × Adam Neely = Unstoppable Jazz Awesomeness
Change my mind.
It took me five minutes to realize he was actually learning and not trying to be a noob like the other drum lesson vid.
And so begins another ZackGrooves arc... Let's go!
That ad was epic
