Drums r the sexiest instrument plz dont be mad lulz
Even as a professional, that is top-tier reading skills. To be able to learn it that fast and execute it flawlessly is beyond impressive.
I suppose that is his reading ability taken from playing saxophone !
I feel like I’m a really slow learner now.
@@molineuxtv I think he was talking about blake evans
This took me an hour to get the pattern down and play it consistently if anyones curious.
Now comes developing speed
Not to be a picky ass hole, however will come across as one anyways, but one thing about that style of playing being demonstrated here and exhibited here is that it's a very stacatto approach! Ie, the linear method almost exclusively utilised between the limbs in order to produce the phrasing of all the fills and brakes gives me as a listener, and fan, of drumming a very singular and one dimensional approach to the music and phrasing voiced on the drums here within. This means then, for me as a listener I've to enjoy the performing drummers perspective only if I'm to appreciate the performance outside of my own preferences and anticipation. Have you ever for example listened to a record and because of your own years of practice and experience anticipated the resolving bar of a certain melody, harmony, or rhythm either to find that it totally delivered what you wanted, thus thrilling you as a participating listener, or didn't, this disappointing you an objective listener. For me, when impressive drummers are heavy on the linear phrasing they tend more often then not be very stacatto in their phrasing and so nearly all their breaks sound like stilted Morae code like karate chops over the piece in complete contrast to the more spacious solos played by their melodic counterparts on the same record! Many a traditional jazz drummer relied on marching band snare methods as to not only have tradition in their playing but also the capacity to play phrases with breath and space and not just choppy and Morse code like. Balance is needed by all musicians. Melodic instruments can benefit greatly from studying drummers, drummers likewise studying melodic instruments. The myth I'm trying to bust here is: a choppy drummer is not a melodic drummer or musician drummer by technical default. Musical range in drumming is defined by the same principles of all other musical instruments. Dynamics, feel(ie stacatto or otherwise), timing and finally expression. Reducing drums and drummers to the standard of reproduction of sequenced patterns is more an exercise of agility than musicality and especially when not a product of musical invention compositionally

always more fun to play in your free time, but it's just a great thing to play music
I'm so jealous of your family dynamic. I wish i had a family member i could shed high level jazz with. Also, your mother is very lovely and supportive, i hope she had a great mothers day.
your "sick transition" went straight into a Pepsi ad. i am dying laughing
2:10 man that is the smoothest playing ever, more of that please. Funky as hell lol
1:35 I love how this piece would later become Cloud Island by Everything Yes!
That drumming at the recital was insane, massive inspiration bro
Bro the editing on this was next level!!🔥 Love when you and Nathan make vids together and can't wait to see more once you guys move to Memphis!
As a brother, I love the traveling hand to smack you brother. Great video! I’m a guitar player but watch these for the entertainment value alone.
So you can say that...for viewers on livestream it was...IT WAS A DRUM 'N BASS CONCERT?!
🤣🤣🤣
This is a really cool format. Would love to see more videos like this!
I, honest to god *wish* you would post more videos of you and your brother (or his band) jam out.
I cannot emphasize this more.
I always get hyped when I see that you’ve posted a new clip! You never disappoint! Also this e-book is great! Pick it up guys, lots of sick CHOPS!!!!
Amazing vid, I'm so surprised Nathan picked it up so quick! Blake was even more impressive. Always love seeing Nathan on your channel, you guys are really funny together!

Well done Nathan!! On both the recital and learning that lick! 🎉 This was awesome!
I’ve always said saxophone is the drums of woodwinds. Always.
i have official been playing the drums for one year now and part of my motivation was you, so thank you! great video also
Good job. Keep it up and remember, practice makes permanent, perfect practice makes perfect
That was the sickest transition ever
Loving these videos with the bro Nathan!
I love how different your energy is compared to your brother. He seems super chill all the time. I love to see you vibe together
Insane. The amount of talent and dedication is insane. Entertaining too.
Love this, copped the book to support 👊🏼
I think Nathan has good reading skills. The way he picked up the rest of the lick so quickly after getting the basics was insane. It would take me much longer and I've played drums for 18 years - but if I can hear it I can play it back usually. My reading skills are just poor
One of the maddest starts to a yt video I've ever seen
This was awesome. Also seeing my alma mater in all her glory brought back some serious nostalgia and memories 😭
I love it when im scrolling through youtube and i see a new Zack Grooves video
Thanks to you Zack, I’m going to get a starter drum kit soon!!
