I find it very funny that they made a premium tornado, that is the same as the event tornado, but nerfed FOR 70 DOLARS
You forgot the premium time, The golden eagles and the plane itself being a premium plane.
But yes it is a truly terrible aircraft and not worth those 70 dollars especially with the lazur being around.

At this point it’s just straight comical. You could just buy the Lazure-M for the same price and have an infinitely more enjoyable grinding experience. And even then I wouldn’t consider it worth $70.
I've got both, the MIG21 is fun but the Tornado gets so much RP.

The tornado only having access to 1000lb bombs should be a crime
ill have a look through some documents but i think its the only bomb it could really carry that isn't JP233 or another special type, i would really like to see JP233 but there isn't a use for it really sadly
looking on Wikipedia, it says it can carry 500lb and 2000lb bombs but i believe that its talking about GBU-12 and GBU-24, we have GBU-24 on the tornados but we don't have the GBU-12s, but we do have the 1000lb guided bomb in the GBU-16 and Mk.13, I'll keep looking but i do not think any other unguided bombs could be carried
They could have added so much interesting stuff as a premium to the german tech tree and they come up with THIS? Come on Gaijin.

The point is right, but the F-4S' AIM-7F SARH missiles will not allow too much distraction, and considering 11.0 is often put in 10.3-11.3 matches, it doesn't really help

As someone who owns and plays GR.3, F.3 and Gripen C...
I only agree with any bomber variant... I get more kills in my F.3 than i do with my Gripen C. Gripen is a good dogfighter... but F.3 is a missile boat. I would take SuperTEMPs over 9M's (Or have a couple of of 9M's and rest ST's) and definitely would have pure ST's over 9L's.
The thing I've been confused with is that they said that this Tornado won't be getting guided bombs because they weren't sure if it could carry them, but this Tornado is literally just the same Tornado as all the others but in a training/test squadron, so it should obviously get the same pod and bomb loads
I was actually dumbfounded when I saw what they were giving this plane. I was also surprised it was for Germany of all nations lol
if they want to add more tornados they should add 2nd gen tornados like the GR.4 and ASSTA2/3, GR.4 with its Brimstone air to ground missiles would be useful for CAS, especially as its different from the Maverick fest that every western CAS aircraft but the tornado carries, though idk much about it and wether or not it would be too strong

I see a lot of Tornados at 11.0 so Gaijin tactic seemed to work
If it had at least 4 AIM9L and some more guided bombs it would have been fine
If it had four AIM-9L's chances are it would be 11.3 (ARB wise, looking at you F-104S.ASA).
@@lordwintertown8284 Yeah, it would be. The ADV and F.3 sit nicely at 11.3 with X8 mediocre missiles and a decent amount of CM's.
Problem is any ground pounder Tornado no matter what variant... only had two missiles IRL, as it required completely adjusting the wing and body, which ruined it's ground pound abilities. The reality is Tornado's unless retrofitted for fighter... are just bombers with basic defences.
I can confidently say that I wouldn't even play this plane if gaijin payed me lol

I love the Tornado irl, but I wouldnt dare use it in war thunder.
This is a moneyball plane. It's not fun or exciting, but it is extremely efficient with your time. If you haven't played the German tree and you want to get to top tier as soon as possible, this plane will he your best bet.

I've got it but i play tornadoes a lot because i love them, it's certainly not noob friendly but two bases per game and a kill or 2 is printing RP. Really it should be 10.7 to keep it out of top tier like the Kfir. If you don't like tornadoes i'd personally suggest getting the MIG21 on sale and use the event tornado for higher tiers, it'd cost the same
You may have talked about this in the past, but could you talk about how horrible it is to fly any top tier bomber? Such as the F-105 or F-111 as they get ground spawns with fighters that can beat them to bases.
Fun mention, this was probably the most hyped top tier premium for germany in the past, never.
There are people who like to play as a bomber. The Tornado has the best BR 11.0 layout for this, with just 5 bombs, it is already capable of destroying a base. With just 45 minutes of fuel and setting the controls to switch the Tornado's wings, you can reach any enemy base before anyone else, maneuver and escape without being hit. When I want to relax and watch a movie, I do that and earn over 50K Silver Lyons and over 20K XP without having to worry about a thing.
Remembering that I am a player who likes combat, but this can be done in the simplest way possible for those who want XP or SL. Or just relax. So when I see people saying that the Tornado is bad, I really realize that whoever is saying that doesn't know how to fly this plane and is talking nonsense. And the difference between Tornado Coupon and Tornado Premium is just the word Premium. You pay less if you are killed and gain more XP and SL. The coupon has extra weapons that have no use in the current game.
1 tip when flying the Tornado, you only need 5 bombs for 1 base, ~40min fuel is also enough for 1 run and a small detour while rtb'ing, and you can do it all while keeping the AB fully on the whole time.
This way you will be quicker than most of the -enemies- teammates
But it's funny how this thing has literally nothing different over the IDS (GBU's) and the MFG (Anti-Ship missiles)
The difference between Tornado Coupon, Tornado Free and Tornado Premium is just the word Premium. You pay less if you are killed and gain more XP and SL. The coupon/free has extra weapons that have no use in the current game.
Can I ask the same question, what is the difference between the Lazur Premium and the MIG-21 Free? None. The Tiger Animal Premium for the Tiger Free? None. I can go on and on about several premium vehicles that have no difference other than offering more XP and SL.

idk what you mean with "free" but the difference between the MiG-21Bis Lazur-M and Bis-Sau (tt) is that the Lazur-M has the Lazur radar and internal flares instead of a CM pod, which should make a weight and drag difference but that is not modelled in War Thunder.
There being no difference between the tt Tiger's and the animal Tiger is how most old premiums used to be and a trend with the newer premiums. I mean, look at the M46 and M46 "Tiger", M1128 and M1128 "Wolfpack" and so on and so on.
But the prem Tornado having premium bonusses is nice and all, but the fact of the matter still is that it bring literally nothing different to the table.
Hell, I could even buy a tali for MFG or IDS and that would be a cheaper and more fun premium vehicle than the premium one whilst also getting the premium rewards. Tornado also is just not good for grinding, you will do better with buying the Lazur.

I do think it's hilarious that the premium is just a less capable copy of the event vehicle from last year. It's honestly not a bad way to balance fomo and exclusivity, but it's just so bard.

I think aside from the tornado ADVs which get supertemps, the tornados in general are kind of sad. Though in general I would much prefer an underpowered premium pack than another f5C-like pack for 11.3.

It's sad to see how many of those tornadoes pop up lately, even for grinding events there's much better options if you just want to bomb bases.
At this point, i have seen a lot of premium tornado flying around, and i just sitting here and be like "Ohhh free kill"
to be honest there are a lot of tornados at top tier so despite being $70 people have still bought it but have all probably realized how awful the plane is once they actually start flying it

There's a plane whose variants I was in love with a while ago, but it seems that in Warthunder you can't like many things because much of what you think is beautiful is no good. I got to know Tornado in the Ace Combat saga, more precisely the Tornado GR4 and, if I'm not mistaken, it was in Ace Combat 2's Extras as an alternative to the F-14, then I only went to see it again in 4, 5, zero and finally in 6. Well, I wasn't going to buy it anyway, but at least the line one I wanted to put to good use since I don't play tanks much.
Every time i see this thing in a lobby, its almost always the coolest looking plane, but also almost always the first to get clapped by mig21, 21 being for how how many seconds it last after a merge lol.
Used event tornado to grind out both 21bis and both 29's. Its really frustrating that the f-4s can beat you to most of the bases on small maps, even with full AA loadout.
On the flip side, it’s rare I get anything done in my f-4s because of R-27ERs.
I think once gaijin has all the aircraft’s they feel should be in the game, then they’ll work on fixing/adding some gameplay features.

IMO it's better to try to safely toss-bomb a base from long distance with a full bomb load with CCRP and then try to run away to resupply, but this thing should be 10.7 or even 10.3. I have the marineflieger which is functionally the same, and is great for "destroy base" challenges, but that's it.

With the Lazur-M being the same price AND being a better aircraft, the premium tornado just isn't worth it. Not by a long shot. Plus the german air tech tree, isn't really the best tree to grind on especially if you want to play top tier air.

When i first saw this i thought "Oh cool, a premium version of the Tornado IDS/F3", and then i saw the armament. If it were the fighter varient it would be a decent premium for grinding, but the attacker variant? Was this made for botters?
yeah I just bought the Event tornado for 38€ and its like exactly the same plane but you have the cool but for now useless kormoran missiles and i kinda like it, its a Bus but i just like the tornado (of course as a german).

If you want a good plane to grind the German air tree, get the Swiss hunter squadron vehicle, it has good flight performance, 60 flares, 2 aim9js and 4 Aden canon with about 120 ammo each, all at 9.7 where u can fight mig 15s and sabres so very busted

It would literally be cheaper buying the IDS and a corresponding Talisman.
The gameplay loops missing for any jet with more roles than 'shoot bad guy' are always going to to feel bad till said gameplay is added. A good full combined arms game type for all three fronts would be insanely fun. A actual world war system to use would be stellar as well honestly.

I grinded the german tech tree with the mig 21 lazzur m and would get up to 4 kills a game which really doesn’t even come close to the amount of xp you can get just bombing bases with the tornado so your still going to get top tier quicker with the tornado

Also worth noting that this ONLY has the NAVAL SRC radar, it cannot detect aircraft (I've tried, would have been nice if it was mentioned) yet it has no anti-ship missiles . However since i only play sim these days and have no patience to grind tech trees without a premium (been playing since like 2017 and have reached the end of USA, France, Swed) and rack up 70-80k RP per sim match easily by base running and have managed to kill phantoms, harriers, F16s and F14s, I personally have enjoyed this aircraft and don't regret the buy.
Oh and the standard paint job looks cool.

I have the event tornado and yeah, it isn't good, but I've recently gotten into Sim and it's much better there are long as you're not facing the new F-16/15s.
