I like that it’s got a split con rod instead of being pressed…so much better if you ever have to rebuild

That's pretty nice but that's also way smaller displacement. Smaller displacement with sane number of cylinders can generally rev higher

small engine overbore the same with the CBR 150r old can rev up to 13k rpm or the NSR 150

How is this possible? How are single cylinder engines able to go past 7000RPM?

This engine seems to be a Variation of Ducati's V2, Panigale 1199 can go well over 10.000 RPM
So with their experience, updates in Materials/ Design and 2 counter-balancers 10K RPM for a 659cc single is in their ballpark.

Another trick to extract money from people. There are people who will still buy these unreliable, way overpriced junk.
Ducatis are never ever practical motorcycles.
They can never beat Japanese brands on the streets.
Why would logically someone will buy bikes with this engine which produces not even 100 HP in a 650CC motorcycle!
And of course the price will be higher than any 600 cc supersport Japanese bikes. Who cares if it got single cyclinder or not, riders care about what they get for the money they spend.
Time coming when Ducati is going to learn its lessons for fooling people I believe.
