I can see Huron flexing so hard his power armor just bursts off him...as he hits himself in the chest with a power maul, "These abs were made for conquerin'!"
I'm pretty sure the original three-page article on the Badab War in WD 101 (two pages of which were just colour schemes) was primarily intended to promote the idea of Marine versus Marine games. A very sound idea, as everyone and their dog had a box of plastic beakies and it was relatively expensive to build up a decent-sized force of Orks or Eldar (all metal at the time). :)
I have ADD, so actually sitting-down and reading-out these tomes is a real struggle sometimes. So I just want to say 'cheers' for doing the hard work for those of us, who sometimes can't manage to. Really appreciate it mate.
@@alexr.3678 Hi mate, these books are from the campaign books series from Forgeworld. They are pretty old now, but you might still find them at the forgeworld store. Amazingly interesting for people who love the background.

Excellent work! Looking at the one page history of the Badab War from White Dwarf 101, it's satisfying to see what pains were taken to incorporate as much of that ancient lore as possible. Some of the chapter liveries have changed and the Tiger Claws of WD 101 have been (quite confusingly) split into the Astral Claws and Tiger Claws, but most of the original 'history' is still valid. This is quite a contrast to e.g. the original Ultra-Marines (yes, with a hyphen) lore in WD 97, which has been retconned almost beyond recognition. Huron is indeed the first renegade Astartes character other than Horus to be mentioned in print, though when Horus was mentioned in WD 99 it wasn't yet clear that he was actually an Astartes and not merely a human general. It was all wonderfully mysterious back then in the late '80s... almost as if Rick Priestley was making it up on the fly... ;)
