It also shows how far gone Huron had fallen. I mean, what kind of despicable monster would smash miniatures around the board?
I think in the history of GW Alan Bligh will rank as one of the most important. His passion for detail and lore was so evident in everything he did. I hate he left us so soon. There are some people that are truly not replaceable. Alan was one of them.
I love how the Salamanders were basically brought in because they needed at least one person to play “good cop”

If you get a chance, buy the Badab War books or poach a PDF. It was written by Alan Bligh and it's clearly the precursor to the Horus Heresy 30k books. Exquisitely written and gorgeous.

1: I swear the Astral Claws sound like an Iron Warriors successor chapter.
2: This war seems rather one sided, up untill the last two battles, every single struggle before could've been summed up as "The astral claws had this plan going but the loyalists put a quick and brutal end to it. Still took casualties though."
Yeah, the majority of these battles seem thoroughly unsatisfying.
Most of it is little more than seal clubbing.
The more detailed version is more satisfying as far as the battles go. Like the fact that the tyrants legion did rather well better than any pdfs and with the best of the guard able to hold off astares surprisingly well. But yeah of course it's not enough to fight 12 chapters and chaos and orks and corsairs....
Its so ironic that the imperium bothers to send legions of Astartes to crush Huron yet didnt give enough of a fuck to send reinforcements to the wardens.
They deserve the red corsairs

OK it is 0600 where I am at and I did not sleep yet, but before I do since I fear someone might take my bad joke. *clears throat* Carcharodons? Weird way to spell Night Lords. Though as always I cannot wait to hear it when I wake up today.... As always it will be the most high of quality content you can find as always from you ABP. Will leave the edit for future notes too heh.
Edit: You know the whole idea that the Minotaurs are Iron Warriors as well is supported with the Badab war, been a while since I did read those books but it does give evidence to it hm? The brutal nature of the chapter those give some credence there might be more too it. It does help as well that the recent book involving them Regent's Shadow provides some more evidence that they are also puppets of the Administratum.
The Red Hour also goes to show just how this war is less of a Chaos led conflict, or Chaos influenced and more of one simple politics if It wasn't for the crime of the Astral Claws they might as well just been wiped out in a Crusade of petulance like the other "traitor chapters."

So does the imperium still produce gene seeds, or are they just drawing from what remains of ancient back stock? All these dizzying amounts of successor chapters make it seem like they have to still be producing them, but idk
they still produce it, each space marine makes enough gene seed to create two other marines.
Each space marine has two gene seed, and they regenerate, so can be harvested multiple times over the Marines lifespan.

You don't "win" a conflict with the Carcharodons and the Minotaurs, at best you survive it, but it's never a win. 😏
I still want a chapter that's just blue, silver, white and red called " Pepsi Men " that'll show up when the guard needs relief, hand out sodas, then take over fighting from there.

Why does the silver power armored astarde with the jump pack on wear a Crux Terminatus when he's obviously not a Terminator 1st Company marine?

The Crux Terminatus is worn by those worthy to don Terminator armor. They also typically serve in regular power armor when the tactical situation requires and sport it on a shoulder guard. If I'm remembering that correctly.
Crux Terminatus is worn by veteran space marines. You will see it on veteran squads (drawn from 1st company) as well as veteran sergeants in tactical and assault squads. Now this is old school, 3rd edition on. Not sure how primaris are handled.

“Bringing in fully ten companies worth”. Wait, that’s a 1000 Marines..wasn’t this war fought partly because the Astral Claws were over the Codex Astartes size? So how many Star Phantoms are there?
I swear, these writers have no idea what their writing about. (I.e. Arch’s epilogue on the Siege of Vraks where he talks about all the writers errors and all the numbers he had to come up with to make sense of what they were writing about.)
All of the GW writers have massive over inflated and unjustified egos.

Yes, the writers didn’t say: “They brought the entire chapter”. No. They said “Bringing in fully ten companies worth” which is an indication that there was more companies out there. When some one says that, usually it’s like bringing 5 companies but this indicates they are a very large “chapter”
@@kennethbedwell5188 Oh well, it must just be me then. When the lore states they are a codex chapter, and the writers state they deployed the full 10 companys and sites like Lexicanum etc states they deployed the full chapter, i presumed 'fully 10 companies' meant the full chapter
It's quite unusual for a chapter to actually have 10 FULL companies. Usually they are to some degree understrength due to the astartes constant attrition.

I thought this was great, but you got the end wrong. The mantis warriors turned on the Astral Claws in the final battle when the first captain and then the chapter master realised Huron had turned to chaos. The first captain broke the orbital defense line and went after Huron's ship following it into the abyss and the chapter master stood his brothers down and surrendered to the loyalists. It's in a short story by William king. The mantis warriors were sent on a penitents quest and stripped of their worlds and the chapter master was imprisoned.
