This question is specifically for Sarah - if I remember correctly you are a big fan of Calico and this game gives me a similar feeling in the way that you're going to want to fit everything perfectly into your board, but will almost never manage to do it perfectly. So the question is, does this game burn your brain in the same way that Calico does or does it offer something different that is just as good or better? I'm struggling with whether or not to back it and hoped that maybe you could help since Calico was such a perfect game for me for the simplicity in the way it plays to the agony of solving the puzzle in front of you (that's pleasurable agony btw).
Since your aren't restricted to specific spaces on the board, it doesn't feel quite as tense on the brain burn, but only slightly. There is more to pay attention to spacially (not just adjacent tiles) as each animal is going to score differently. Sometimes you have to give and take as you can't always get the tiles you need to fulfill the plans you made in your head (just like Calico). They feel similar as they have a simple ruleset, but since the scoring is so different they both have a place in my collection. -Sara
I had a question that kind of goes with this thread, you guys covered Cascadia, (which I did back), I am wondering how Keystone compares to Cascadia as I try to decide if I want both. I am a sucker for ecology games apparently...
@@tantrumhousegames Thanks Sara for getting back to me, I really appreciate it. I think that I'll have to pass on this one for now, but mostly for financial reasons, and hope that either my library picks up a copy or I find it later at retail. This month's KS budget went to Isle of Cats KITTENS!!
@@tantrumhousegames Well I thought about it more and I ended up backing it! 😂 😂 I really love these puzzles of getting everything in the right place and it most likely shares this one quality with Calico - that you'll want to make a perfect board every time and it will almost never happen!
Looking forward to this one. And the art looks amazing!
Dang I’m late!
