So on your last turn, that plant dragon was supposed to refill the open slot in town right? So the potion dragon should have been the one that you put into one of the shops. And there were no potion enchantments so none would have been cast and it wouldn’t have triggered the end of the game. Let me know if I understood this correctly. But it seems like you should have had at least 1 more turn
You are absolutely correct! Great catch. Love it when someone is paying attention, and learns the rules well enough like that. Thanks for pointing it out - oooh, now we want to know "what if" we had that one more turn here. Could have unlocked an achievement!
I love that a lot of board games have solo mode to them now. Let's me enjoy the game without needing to ask someone else to see if they would like to play a board game with me.
I'm really starting to get frustrated. I have played several times and each time I've been in the 60-70 range.
This most recent game was the highest Ive gotten at 69. I focused on fancy dragons. Todd gave me the max of 6. Matches gave me the max of 6. Bubu gave me 3. Pocus gave me 4. (I used my last turn to enchant and fired up a plant to get rid of some of my resources). Chonk gave me the max of 6. Taylor gave me 5. Frazzle gave me 6. And Sparkle gave me 6. Cast Heart of Flame for 4, Ring of Destiny for 6 and Willow Wisp for 8. Then placed one dragon in a 2 heart spot and another in a 3 heart spot. I never had any coins.
I ran out of artisan dragons, but there was only one enchantment left in the deck anyway. Also I've never had 6 artisan dragons in my hand so I've never had to discard. The most I've had is 3 at the beginning of a game.
Watching the video right now and excited to play it solo while my roommates get hyped to play it with me! Hahaha! Will come back to let you guys know how it went!
I really like this sort of solo progression, will definitely try to unlock all the achievements in flamecraft when it arrives

So helpful, thank you. I took too many dragons out in the beginning (12 instead of 6) and was frustrated about my low score. Now I'll try again 😊
Somehow 73. And this is still not enough. Tough. I think shop positioning means a lot. Because dragons fills nearest shop. And if its shop with effect, more likely i need go there to gain resourcers and effect. But if first 6 shops in a row are starting shops without effect, that means player can miss a lot of opportunities.

I love playing solo mode in Flamecraft, and I've played it multiple times, but I've yet to unlock a single achievement XP think the highest score I've ever managed is 72.
I really hope Rodney Smith does a how to play video for this game. 🤞☺
Thanks to this video I just learned that there is a crucial information missing in the German rulebook concerning the end game trigger in solo mode. The German edition doesn't mention that the game also ends if you deplete the enchantment pile, it only states that the game ends if you deplete the artisan dragon pile. Guess I played my 2 solo games in an easier mode, then...I think in both cases, the enchantment pile was empty before I drew/flipped the last artisan dragon card.
I'll put that info up on BGG and maybe you can do an official Facebook post regarding this issue from the German rulebook?

Just as an added difficulty, would it be possible to choose the pink dragon to play as (KS exclusive) so you're versing all 6 dragons, and not the 5 you're playing against? Just a thought.

It really plays just like multiplayer for your turn, and just a few things to do at the end of your turn for the AI. Our goal was to make it feel like the same game.
Ive just grabbed the game a few days ago and been playing non stop after watching some solo plays. Insane few game scores!! ( and i messed up a few times, would backtrack, but was very careful once i finally acheived achievements and played slower to make sure no mistakes happened)
So far my scores have been: 71, 60, 77 (1st achievement!! Took Glitter Bomb), 63, 99!!!! (Took master of markets & mistress of festivities), 47, and now. A whopping 120!!!!!!!! I had insane luck of dragon drawl where they didnt match the enchantments for a while as well as the dragon alley and maw&paw were both out and frequented. Turned in 12 coins at end of game and aquired 13 fancy dragons. (Only 1 not scoring; Matches, since i fully scored Shimmer instead) my starting dragon hand also consisted of 3!! Potion dragons. This was insane. And somehow, the red Meat dragon meeple never came out to town. (I played as Bread dragon). I have no idea which achievements ill unlock with this, but im loving the gameplay 😊

Question: Did you arrange the starting shops in a particular way? I am copying the standard layout from the instruction booklet.
Love the idea of having achievements. It's probably not a new thing by any means, but there aren't enough! Can't wait to try it out! :)

Well I found this video because I was just wanting to play this game solo!! What a challenge. I didn’t end up doing so well. I only got 65 points. Not even enough to unlock anything yet!! Oh well it was fun. I think I need to rethink on my strategy for sure!
I love playthrough videos! Something I noticed while watching...Am I wrong to say that it looks like the playmat is optional? I'm wondering because not packing it during trips could maybe allow to make the game more portable 😁
Sure, you could find a way to make a score track or keep score and deal out shops, enchantments, artisans (park) in a way that makes sense. We just had to make something epic for the table, but travel Flamecraft could be a thing!
You could make a sheet of paper for each player with a score track and a resource tracker and you'd only need the cards and one of each resource token per player. There are many games that I don't use the board/mat for. If it's just a grid of cards, why bother?

Hey! Great to see this being played, can't wait to get my package! I was searching for the card sizes, is there any info about that? In the FAQ I saw that it was an approx number and was posted last year, so I'd like to know how many cards to sleeve and what size. (Deluxe ed.)
I got my game delivered yesterday🤩 They're the mini card size, I think it's called mini European, maybe? Same size as the attack modifier cards in Gloomhaven, if that means anything to you, lol.

@@marklorant1906 Yes, I just compared them also, and they're the same size, 44mm x 68mm Mini European. 👍
There are 121 mini euro cards, 44.5mm x 67mm. While sleeving shops was not planned space in the Deluxe, some folks may want that info as well to try it - there's 42 shops and 9 aids in the KS edition and these are jumbo cards, 139.7 x 88.9mm

great vid! although i don't think you're supposed to refresh enchantments immediately after your turn. it is moved to step 5 in the solo guide/card
All steps on solo guide/card are at the end of your turn, yes. And refreshing enchantments is step 5.
