You can see the date June 25th 1988 in the Plaque to Captain James Cook in Cooktown , so this documentary was made some time after this date . My guess would be that this film was made around 1990 to 1995.
Thankfully, unfettered access to important sites have been controlled by walkways and other infrastructure since this was made. A lot of 'Quinkan' country art is on forbidden land nowadays, which is a good thing. The art that is open to the public has deteriorated over recent years. There was also a collapse some years back that destroyed some important art.
its called a bow wave as the vehicle crosses through the water it creates a forward momentum in the water rather than pulling it into the engine bay numerous factors stop the water for reach high up into the engine bay. regarding the 60 series the radiator and condenser act like a baffle, slowing the water ingress. if i recall correctly the crank battery is on the right side which sits infront of the air box, most 60 series cruisers have a factory dual battery tray, one on the left and one on the right. An the intake for the airbox leads into the inner quarter guard panel.
When Australia go travelling to these remote and wild places isn’t that the same as tourism? These place should be accessible to all who want to visit them. Or is this only permitted for film makers ?
Thank you what a interesting video loved it

man how could you go that deep through a river crossing with no snorkel, and not suck water into the engine

Textbook water crossing
Calling it an invasion sets the story as negative. If you don't want tourists, don't make a video advertising the area.
So true, as much as we hate tourists, they are the lifeblood of many comunities in Queensland that have no other viable industry.

They make documentaries about the moon it doesn't mean everyone's got to go there
guess in hindsight the dim view of tourists to the cape didnt play out as you expected still 1000s of campsites your average joe will never see.
+Brett Hostile Google earth.

This was actually watchable the singing sucks hard though
Yes he's not the best singer but back in those days everybody had a go they didn't have to be some professional to sing everybody did it .
