Sweet sounding truck. Not too many people running 6.2's these days. Big props to you! I had a 91 Suburban k1500 with the 6.2 and dual 2.25inch exhaust with 16inch glasspack mufflers. Sounded amazing. I loved to listen to it start in the winter. I'd use a hair dryer down the intake plus manual override on the glow plugs to start it in the Wisconsin winters (block heater was broke). That thing would pop and snort and smoke for a good 5mins. I very much regret selling it.
Awesome sound! (at the 1:12 mark) I have an 1984 diesel myself and love it. Been watching your truck being built more and more in each video. Great job and keep up the good work.
@mad4diesel a early model 6404A engine. its a 404 CID direct injected diesel found in the 7020's from the 70's and they came factory with a bosch injection pump about half way through production, they were the ONLY turbo and intercooled first generation 404 with a inline bosch injection pump.
@1nwp2012 because the stock 6.2 headgaskets wont hold more than 12 psi of boost from a GM-x turbo that is found on a 6.5. however i have seen people running around 15 with a banks turbo and not having any problems, the reason for this is the GM turbo makes a ton of backpresure when you're making alot of boost with it, the banks turbo doesnt make as much though. and the EGT's need to stay down because the 6.2 just has bare pistons where the 6.5 has anoidzed piston heads.
@CORNandCATTLE i went on a week long vacation to visit some friends but no boating or fishing happened. it actually turned into one big work session for me, i was fixing grandpas 3 wheeler's and motor home, and fixing my old friends A/C systems for the summer heat. i cant remember how many times i had to go back to the store to get another few cans of refrigerant lol.
@tgredneck thanks. that thud where i yelled aww christ, was a air tank in the back smashing into the back of the cab when i stopped. damn thing dented my aluminum trim piece.
@turfguy87 Him doing all of the mod's for a little more power on his 6.2 and probably still get's 30 mpg's. If he's adding a little ND 30W oil to the tank on every fill up should save his IP , which is the only week part of these engines.
@CORNandCATTLE lol, im not much of a fisherman. i dont have that much patience to wait for a fish to bite. but i can lay in a boat and have a afternoon nap if i feel like it lol. i got haying to get done before i get a break anyways. gotta finish baling, then haul all 300 bales in 11 at a time, then gravel my driveway, and by then im sure something else will have popped up. winter time is my time off :D and i dont mind it one bit.
@pwarren1010 i know of all the detroits used in semis and tractors haha. if you can fab up a way of mounting, hooking up, driving, and lubricating a 6V71 blower more power to you. but i wouldnt bother running one WITH a turbo charger. only reasons the screamin jimmys run both is because they require the blower to run. the turbocharger is just for added power.
@6030diesel ah shucks... looked like a nice little farm pond... we have just been slay'n the fish up here... have you had a chance to get out this summer?
@mad4diesel jesus no. id never put a 2 cylinder engine in there, they dont turn fast enough. it shouldnt be too heavy since ill beef the front frame, and put big axles under it and a ton of front springs.
@CORNandCATTLE id be surprised if there was fish in there. i dont think there is and ive never heard of anyone fishing in there. thats the pond where everyone around here gets their water for their sprayers.
@turfguy87 Diesel being cheeper than gas (farm diesel is way cheeper yet), Diesels don't go for cheep around here esspecially cummaparts. Parts for these engines are cheeper and still plentyful.
hahaha nice analogy I love it! I just like to pick on my friend's 12 valve cummins because it really does sound like a tractor. (93 dodge extended cab 1 ton) Still a nice truck though ;)
@Bleiybomb i have a van with the naturally aspirated 6.2,it gets 20 if you're nice to it,but put your foot down and you can watch your fuel gauge drop.
Hey 6030! Do you know of the 6V71 or 53 series Detroits? Im curious about using the super chargers in combination with the turbo`s on a 6.2 Detroit.And Are you fimiliar with the 8.2 Detroit?
@6030diesel working on vacation... and no fishing... gee whiz fella.. im all bummed out now.. you better get yerself to a pond post haste.. to cheer me back up.. LOL take care bro..
@turfguy87 its alot more fun to make power in an underdog engine, than just go out, piss 12 grand up the wall on a truck that is a pos just to get a solid engine. ill stick with my 6.2 untill the day comes that i can afford to put a deere tractor engine into this truck.
fuck these things sound so great. I've got one in the garage I needa fix up. Sounds waaay nicer than those 6 cyl cummins.. If I want to sound like a tractor, i'll buy a john deere.

It sounds great for a 6.2L Detroit Diesel engine and he gets major credit since he put together his own Turbo charger system. Two thumbs up Bro.

She sounds nice. I like the scenery too. LOL There's no place better the northern prairie.
@tgredneck thanks. that thud where i yelled aww christ, was a air tank in the back smashing into the back of the cab when i stopped. damn thing dented my aluminum trim piece.
Don't let Al Gore see this, More smoke the better, LOVE IT!
Righteous fella.... now get back to that pond and get me some bass...

@1nwp2012 not a thing, bolt it on and go, just keep the boost below 12 psi and EGT's below 1100*F and you're good to go.
Hell yeah! I like it...old school!
@CORNandCATTLE Around here ponds like that are usually too shallow and freeze solid during the winter = no fish.
Do you still have this cool 6.2l diesel??!!!
@mad4diesel jesus no. id never put a 2 cylinder engine in there, they dont turn fast enough. it shouldnt be too heavy since ill beef the front frame, and put big axles under it and a ton of front springs.
@6030dieselNot a bad idea if it's not too heavy for the truck, thought you might be thinking of putting an engine from an 730 or 830 JD
@CORNandCATTLE id be surprised if there was fish in there. i dont think there is and ive never heard of anyone fishing in there. thats the pond where everyone around here gets their water for their sprayers.

@6030diesel you need to get rid of that np208 for it breaks and leaves you with a 2 wheel drive truck like it did to me
hahaha nice analogy I love it! I just like to pick on my friend's 12 valve cummins because it really does sound like a tractor. (93 dodge extended cab 1 ton) Still a nice truck though ;)
@kerobinsonii thanks! should be making some new videos soon.
@Bleiybomb i have a van with the naturally aspirated 6.2,it gets 20 if you're nice to it,but put your foot down and you can watch your fuel gauge drop.
sounds sweet nice job
@6030diesel Me too, I love the black diesel smoke.
@6030diesel Hey man.I appreciate the reply.I have never seen or heard of anyone attempting it.
when u drive it "nice", wut is a rough est. of fuel econ.? Sounds sweet!
wow pink stacks and it sounds like a gas
Could you film with a better camera? also maybe some footage of the turbo?
hey man hows it going you still got the chevy im sure i got a new truck 99 ford powerstroke 6spd f350 the 6.2 ats wasnt enough lol

@6030diesel What size JD are thinking of putting in?
@Bleiybomb 20 MPG mixed.
@MrAjscheiner true but mine also didn't have the turbo bud. His would beat mine any day of the week.
What kinda horsepower are you making now? I'm looking at an '82 6.2, was curious if you bumped it up any,
@FunwithFarmToys yes it does, and so do i and no there isnt lol.
@1nwp2012 GM-3 turbo off of a 1993 6.5
rollin coal
But this sounds about as great :)
did your truck came with the turbo
@oliverjd26 thanks man
where did you get the turbo from or off?
fuck these things sound so great. I've got one in the garage I needa fix up. Sounds waaay nicer than those 6 cyl cummins.. If I want to sound like a tractor, i'll buy a john deere.
sounds like a tractor trailor just like a cummins =]
hows it run with the turbo
@mad4diesel
Cracked dash? Perhaps you failed to look at an upholstery shop.
quit playing with kiddie toys & get a cummins
