    My senior cat & kitten just started on bone broth on their wet foods; as a healthy topper! I have noticed a big difference in both ages in only a few short weeks! My senior is keeping up with the kitten, increased play, and better overall mobility! The kitten is high-energy and off to a great start!! Pet-formulated bone broth has made my kitties happy kitties! Thanks for the vid! :)

    I make bone broth for my family anyway so we just share with the puppies. I recently switched my dogs to raw food! Thanks in part to your educational information :) I found a local company here near dc that makes a BARF meal and my dogs loooooove it. They have yet to leave food in the bowl like they did with their kibble. I will be adding bone broth to this too when I make more.

    I’m so glad I found your channel. I’m becoming a certified dog trainer to prepare for getting a service dog for myself and the one thing I was hoping my classes would discuss is dog nutrition in depth. Sadly we only the most basic bits of all of it including raw diets. I myself may not have the money for a fully raw diet, but I’ll definitely look into goats milk for my pup. I might also drink some cause goats milk is goooood.

    i believe everyone should know the bone broth as a name is miss leading bone broth is stock not broth. the major difference between broth and Stock: Broth is made from meat and vegetables, but stock is made with bones. While both are flavorful, broth tends to be thinner. It's cooked for less time, and it doesn't contain stock's thick, viscous texture.

    • @kevinwilcox1835
      @kevinwilcox1835 2 роки тому +3

      By introducing the term "bone broth," the food industry has just added confusion. In general, stock contains more calories, fat and carbohydrates than broth. But, it also contains more protein, vitamins and minerals. Bone broth (a type of stock, despite its name) includes even more nutrients, including amino acids and minerals. Bone broth is a stock that is simmered for a very long time-sometimes as long as 48 hours. It also often involves the addition of apple cider vinegar, which aids in the release of nutrients like glucosamine, amino acids and electrolytes.

    Enjoying listening to you talk about dog foods. I've been researching them for years and your problems with them are the same as mine - they're garbage for the most part. Wanted to ask your opinion about a 'healthy' tarter control treat for dogs that's not priced out of this world. Was using VIRBAC C.E.T. Enzymatic Oral Hygiene chews at the advice of my vet. That's over since I've had to stick my hand down my Bouvier des Flandres throat twice this week to pull the thing out. Not taking a third chance. All I see on line is junk with glycerin or other things that look harmful. Pls help! Have an unhappy Bouv. Your thoughts? ? ? ?

    Most of the nutrients are available to the dog through the very slow making of bone broth. The digestive tract of a dog is fairly short: Dogs are unable to extract a lot of nutrients from (fruit and) vegies. Powdered bone broth is available from health food stores. I buy organic (theory: pesticides could be concentrated) and avoid ones having onion.

      Make the broth like you would for yourself, but NO ONIONS or onion related foods (leeks, shallots, etc.). Some folks say no garlic either, but I add a bit because I don't think low concentrations of garlic are detrimental to dogs. Also, go low on the salt, maybe 1 teaspoon.

    Hi Skylar! I just discovered your channel and have been binge watching your videos. We got our first puppy in April and navigating pet food is so confusing! It would be really helpful if you could make a video/series on “building a bowl” and what percentages of kibble/toppers should generally be included. Kibble makes the most sense for our lifestyle (we use farmina ancient grains) but we want to add moisture and healthy oils, I’m just worried about adding too much or too little of anything, especially fats because I know that can lead to pancreatitis down the line. (My moms Pomeranian just went through it 😢)

    Hi I was wondering if it’s possible for you to review each Kirkland brand dog food. Basically rank them bc I see that the ingredients varies a bit with each different type of meat used or certain formula. Specifically looking at their adult dog food: lamb, chicken , healthy weight chicken, (nature’s domain) as well. If it’s not too much to ask.
    Im generally just trying to find out which one just by ingredients would be the best option.

    Hello does it matter if it is chicken or beef bone both? Is one better than the other?

      Totally up to you! My dogs get a rotation of chicken, beef, turkey, pork, and fish. (Sometimes venison if a friend has some deer bones up for grabs during hunting season)

    I feed my dogs honest kitchen, with some of their pour overs and primal goats milk with ever meal. Is that okay or is that not recommended?

    Can I feed my dog my home made bone broth with carrots, cellery and onions or does she need her own batch without onions?

    Bone broth made for human consumption usually has been made with vegetables for flavor and vitamins, but that may include onion. Dogs should NOT have onion! Safer bet is to get bone broth made for pet’s consumption, or make your own leaving OUT onion.
