I had a really bitter second grade teacher. Pretty sure she hated kids and she was so terrible as a teacher. On one of our free days she put on this movie for us but it was late in the school day so we only got to see the first like 30 or 40 minutes of the movie. I'm pretty sure she was trying to traumatize us with this movie and it backfired because the bell rang so we just watched 30 minutes of a dog and a fox being friends
Dont think you could do much trauma with fox and the hound tbh. It'l make the kiddies cry, sure, but not exactly trauma
Now if she put on Happy Tree Friends, then thats a guaranteed trauma (and immediate termination)

During Todd and copper’s fight scene, Todd gets a go at copper’s throat, he could have killed him in that moment but instead he slightly bites and let’s go, sparing Copper even if they where enemies
oh, i didn't saw it that way! i always thought that foxes could be less strong than such hounds/dogs; that's why Todd's bite didn't really hurted Copper in my opinion. i'll see this moment different now, thanks! it really shows how Todd really didn't wanted to hurt his old friend
they’re not enemies. they used to be friends, there was no “sparing”. that hound was long gone, it’s not a cute movie in the slightest, it’s fucked up

Todd couldn't have killed copper, copper is a type of dog bred to have thick skin around the throat, so when animals like wolves, foxes, and other dogs would try to bite the throat they wouldn't do actual damage

In my interpretation it doesn't have a happy ending, they don't become friends again, it is just "You saved me, I saved you, we're done", the dog will still hunt the fox again, but now they're completely strange to each other, just like what "society" wanted (I see this movie like a criticism of society rules, makes sense?)

Oof! Yeah, that is harsh! I don't personally have close friendships (I have friends but it's mostly surface level) due to mild social anxiety and trust/vulnerability issues out of fears of dealing with that (especially if they're people that are still around for day-to-day life because of school and/or work), so I definitely feel for y'all!

This movie confused me as a kid because there was no happy ending, no life lessons, and no happily ever after. What confused me the most is why they couldn't be friends, but now it's even more tragic because the lesson was you dont always get a happy ending😢

I remember as a kid seeing the credits roll and go "THAT WAS IT??" Like, the ending dialogue of them as kids saying they'd be friends forever even as they parted in a bittersweet way left me dumbfounded. I did not understand it at all and was in complete distress 😅 It’s a lovely movie though...
Yeah I was piiiiissed. I remade the ending in my head and it was one of many movies I was going to remake and change the ending of (my mom’s trick to stop little emotional me from mourning over movies for days - become a movie maker, change it!)
I rewatched it with a twitch streamer a while ago, and I still feel the same way. "That's it?". She also saying, "Oh, it's over?" It's frustrating. It's a bad ending, and I hated how they did it.

Fox and the Hound was honestly one of my favorite movies growing up and I still love it dearly to this day, and I am obsessed with this edit! It fits so well and just keep coming back! Also, im gonna have to watch this Banshee you talked about the audio coming from!

This is literally me and my ex bestfriend.
We were friends for 15 years, and one day she dated a racist man. He openly despised me.
Overnight i became her enemy- quite literally.
I 100% relate to todd in this. I didnt and still dont understand why she did this, abandoning a 15 year friendship for a man she knew for three months prior.
"But you liked me yesterday" was a very real feeling for me.
Sometimes i mourn the person i thought she was. I know none of this was my fault.
Its just the 180 from laughing together and drinking tea the night prior and the horrible way she treated me the next morning stings, even now.
i will always say that friendship breakups hits harder, even more than romantic ones. i'm sorry that your "friend" did this to you. and i highly relate, my ex bestfriend, who i met 8 years ago, one day (around 2020) found new friends and put me completelly aside, ignoring me everytime. much has happened since then. so for the past 5 years i have been dealing with this feeling of loss, abandonment and replacement. it really hurts a lot so i can feel you so so much!! i don't know how "friends" can throw it all up for someone they just met, it's incredible rude from them.
so yeah, i guess we'll never truly understand why they decided to act that way :/ but i hate to think that they one day woke up and decided they didn't loved us anymore. and now they're doing with someone else the things we used to do back then... but i hope you'll eventually feel better though! like i said, i feel your pain, but i also know that someday you'll be okay, you'll find new people and friends who will value your friendship (which, was actually my situation last year). finding new people helped me to understand that there's still people who will like you. we can't stop being us because the person we loved the most would have left us aside.
When I was a child I saw only a part of this movie, when I was a little older I saw it in its entirety and I couldn't help but cry because I had been thinking about ending a friendship of more than 7 years, I simply saw how time changed things, people It changes, you change, everything changes, and when you realize, it's no longer the same...
Although the film ends with a happy ending, where everyone lives their own life, it is sad to think that at some point you had to leave something that mattered a lot to you behind in order to move forward.
i can feel you, honestly. it's a weird and sad feeling when everything you used to know is not longer there. it's devastating when often changes are something we can't help but watch happen and do nothing about it. i hope you're doing alright tho! leaving when all you wanted to do is stay is hard, but sometimes necessary

As a kid i watched this so many times and it broke my heart how they went from friends to such hatred toward the fox but it was gearing us up for the real world some times people let others influence there opinions of you wether its family friends bosses who ever but its sad when a person you were close to switches up and becomes some one you cant even be around any more
I’ve never seen the movie, but I clicked because I got drawn in by the title - my best friend left me last week, all of a sudden, saying he never was going to be friends with me again, and I’m still not entirely sure what I did. He hates me now but he doesn’t hate any of our other friends and it’s so painful to see him everyday smiling with them but not with me, and not getting to tell him about things or hear about his life or get to laugh and make jokes together or even just say hi. We were so close, closer probably than anyone else I’ve ever known, so I don’t understand how it fell apart so quickly. “You loved me yesterday” has been repeating in my head for the past week. It really hurts.

i read this comment just now so i'm kinda late lol but i 100% understand and relate how you're feeling. it is pretty sad when the person with whom you used to share everything, just becomes a stranger all of sudden. really upseting when you see someone doesn't appreciates you enough and it's willing to throw away all of the moments shared. i have been there myself (still dealing with it to this day😅1year has passed) but i'm sure you'll find people who will truly value you! but i know this is a hard process, specially when you can't do nothing to keep this person with you, but you will meet people with whom you won't even have to try. they will appreciate you as much as you appreciate them and there is nothing more beautiful than a mutual friendship. sending hugs and hope you feel better soon!
@@Lobitosve Thank you, it is really hard at the moment because it feels like most of my other close (mutual w my other friend) friends are kind of ignoring me and don’t want to be friends with me anymore as well and I just don’t understand and haven’t even been told what I did to make everyone suddenly abandon our friendship. So yeah I’m not doing very well and there’s a lot of loneliness present now but I’m holding out that someday I’ll be valued by someone like I value them. Also I appreciate your comment, it’s nice to know that other people relate and I’m not completely alone :)
Had a friend once - we lived in different states but were super close, talked for hours every day. One day she stopped responding all together. I let her go because I realized we’d never been friends - the friendship had been forced. I still think she could’ve told me instead of leaving like that, sometimes she still messages when she needs something from me. Pathetic

I recommend also reading the book that this film was adapted from, I've heard its even more sad and tragic than the movie was, and had some minor differences like copper and chief having swapped names, and actual deaths, also the person who saved tod was the same person who killed his mom, etc.

It's like walking in the woods listing to the frogs and birds chirping, everything's peaceful nothing's wrong in your life and then BOOOM! your shot in the leg and you don't know who or what direction it came from. Its just this big soggy soup of confusion and self-guilt.

If you liked the movie read the book. Disney forced it out of publication but you can now buy it as ebook. Fox and the hound by Daniel p mannix. Much of the book is not child friendly, but it is a rewarding read.

I read the book and it’s far more brutal than the cartoon, very different as well.
For a brief rundown of events: Todd’s mother and siblings get burned alive and torn apart by fox terriers and hunters take him home as a baby. He lives with them for about a year, then goes off for a wild life. He becomes addicted to danger and learns from every situation he survives.
There’s an old hunter with a pack of tied up dogs outside his house, Todd walks right up to where their chains end and taunts them because they can’t get him.
The young, promising tracking dog named Chief that saved the hunter’s life earlier in the story breaks his bonds and chases the fox.
Todd deliberately let him track him to some train tracks and manages to get Chief hit by a train.
Chief dies and the hunter swears vengeance.
Then the story mostly devolves into Todd’s wild life and his mates while the hunter and his most experienced tracker, Copper, attempt to kill him repeatedly.
They never kill Todd, but they do kill all his mates and offspring.
I won’t spoil the rest of the story, but it’s rather tragic and depressing.
