    My WiFi is located in a closet with no window - I was concerned that the GPS antenna would have a hard time capturing a signal. I put the antenna near the closest window in bathroom next to the closet. To my surprise it worked. Booted up in less than 20 mins. My phone went from barely one bar to a full bar reading any place in our house. Before we had dropped calls constantly. This devise is a small miracle! Thanks for the video - was very helpful!

    Hi everyone
    i am using the T-MOBILE 4G LTE CELLSPOT and i am very happy with it because where i live i did not have any coverage at all but now i have 5 bars and 4G LTE service all of the time. and yes the setup takes about 2 hours for it to its thing and to download everything it needs but once its done and you all solid green lights you are good to go just be patient with the setup and you will be very happy that you waited.

    Once it is setup, I wish to put it in the basement. That why it will not in GPS reach. Have you isolated the GPS antenna and had the device working?
    Also since it is a tower of tmobile is the call quality better than when over wifi?

      gardensofthegods they charge customer a one time security deposit of $25 and it’s free for life as long as your a customer. The $25 deposit is you leave T-Mobile, cancel service, port out to another carrier and don’t return the device where they would then charge u a non return fee of $138. I work for them. You can only get it through customer service now. Stores no longer have them physically.

      Call T Mobile and tell them you are still getting poor reception. They will send you a replacement but whatever you do don't send the old one back using the new box the replacement unit came in. Hopefully, you saved the original box because it has the bar code on the outside that matches the serial number on the old unit. The service center in Texas might scan the bar code on the returned box (they are supposed to scan the barcode of the unit inside not the barcode on the box but unfortunately we humans don't always do what we are told to do) and if it doesn't match the serial number on the old unit they will charge you $400. If you don't have the original box from 2015, I suggest you use a USPS, FedX or UPS box forcing them to open it and scan the returned unit inside. Just saying.

      I know this is a 3 year old post but for anyone new coming here with this same question as the 3 month old reply, you just have to let it download and update the software. It took mine almost 4 hours to do on a 6Mb dsl connection. It will restart multiple times. After all lights were flashing I simply unplugged it, plugged it back in, after about 2 or 3 minutes all lights lit up and it worked "fine". I did get a text message that I had to confirm my address in the middle of the install. First I actually received an email with instructions on how to confirm via text. After I confirmed, it was probably another 30 minutes before all the lights started to flash before I unplugged it.
      As for anyone hoping this is going to speed up your mobile connection, this does NOT do that. It simply gives you full signal around your house and uses your home internet connection as its speed. I get 5g in one spot in my house and after turning this on it took that away and turned it back into 4gLTE. It doesn't go any faster either as its on my dsl 6Mb connection.

    Ugh. I live in a downstairs condo with strict HOA rules especially around our windows and TERRIBLE cell service. I can’t mount anything outside and I can’t put anything within 1-2 feet of my windows without being in violation of HOA rules (yes, the window rules are ridiculous, but they are still the rules). My wired internet is extremely fast, but the WiFi signal regularly goes down, I’m pretty sure because of crowded signals from all of my neighbors also using WiFi. I thought maybe this would be the solution because it uses WiFi, but it looks like you still have to attach something to the windows. Does anyone know any solutions that don’t require outside or window attachments?

      it's not for people who have good signal or solid 4g coverage. It's for people that don't get good cell signal. They plug this in to their router/modem and it's like having a mini cell phone tower in your home/office, which gives you full reception on your phone. I, for example, get 0 bars in my house, but I work for TM so I decided to get the employee plan for a very good price and just use the cellspot to get good reception at home.

    I have the original CellSpot and is working okay. It's a bit of an overkill when your main Wi-Fi router is good enough for Wi-Fi calling. So this device will send out a 4G LTE signal in the area. Does that mean other TMo users can benefit from this extended cell broadcast?

  • @_Mr.Sush_
    @_Mr.Sush_ 8 років тому +1

    How secure is this? Can anyone connect meaning they are now on my Local Network? Or does it have a white list/black list option. Something else? How can I keep my Neighbor from connecting to this Cell Spot and utilizing my Wifi data?

    • @TechcellentNews

    • @steved9746
      @steved9746 8 років тому +1

      True.. Anyone with a T-Mobile phone can originate or receive a call THROUGH your Cellspot if they are close enough and only if your cellspot is providing a stronger signal.
      However they do NOT have access to your home network nor can they get access through this device.
      Also.. They can't force their phones on to your hotspot either.

      I live in a rural area a mile away from a lake on the outskirts of a town an want to game but have satellite internet only and can only get satellite or this basically. My question basically is would this be helpful for me if I only get 2 bars in my area by at least a mile till good coverage ? An would it go off the same ping my satellite internet does ? Which is 600 highly unacceptable compared to around 100 with phone carriers

      it's a booster for full 4gLTE coverage. I have no reception in my home. After I set up my cellspot, I'll have coverage. It's basically a mini cell phone tower for your home that runs off of your internet.

    wow, cant believe what i just watched. so your telling me that if I go out and pay $$$ for this device I can attach it to my home router and and use my cell phone data which cost $$$ and make calls... I'm confused, cause if I turn on WiFi in my T-Mobile phone I can connect directly to my home router and use it at no extra expense, even more so I don't even need a data plan because it uses the internet from my router which by the way is running at 75 mbs vs the slower 4g speeds and as far as phone service my T-Mobile phone automatically switches to making calls over internet thus even if I don't have any Cell service at home I still have full internet and phone service and the best part is it dint cost me any $$$ to by any fancy devices....

      It's for situations with unreliable networking. I get 1 bar in my house and my home internet can be lousy for phone calls. With this I am getting 5 bars, and able to use the Tmobile network to make phone calls and people can actually hear me.

      Dakota1769 I just hooked mine up today and it said that you have the GPS so that they know that you are using the device at your home.. I guess so you don't sell the free ones for profit..or that's just the way they have it set up. Idk that's how they explained it. It also said that they may turn it off it it turns out the device is not at the address on the T-Mobile account.

      Sir, I just read your comment. This year I was asking a local T-Mobile associate about the 4 G LTE Hotspot it's called, and in California I was passing through, the store had them. They are black devices rectangle on the wall next to the bigger cell phones. You do not need in home cable connection. The T- Mobile 4 G LTE little Hotspot receiving device does this. You can actually hold it in your hand. This one is about the size of a small phone. I believe the Hotspot itself was around $ 100.00 dollars depending on there deals. And then ( when ready ) you just sign up for month to month billing coverage. Also there's a Sims small card activating chip that inserts in hotspot device. Ask the local associate how much it is depending on the Gigs data your wishing for. I remember then there's no contract, just ask to be sure please. They had different monthly payments depending how many GigaBites they offer in store. The man mentioned 3 Gigs to 5 -7 Gigs. At the time 3 Gigs of data was $ 30.00 dollars and it goes up from there. Also ask if they can show you on there computer how good your Hotspot area will be for coverage, to see if it's worth the money. Experience will be different for everyone. That's all I found out form the local T-Mobile store. At the time I asked for a business card. Anyway, hope that helps.

      +Raena St.Peter TL:DR: The CellSpot gives your internet connection away as a free TMobile tower to anyone nearby. The cellspot is TERRIBLE for consumers. It basically takes your internet and uses it to install a free tower for TMobile. Because your cellspot acts as a tmobile tower, anyone next to you may receive a stronger signal to your tower than to the actual Tmobile tower. If this happens then all your neighbors will connect to Tmobile through YOUR cellspot and enjoy better cellphone coverage and faster data connections at the expense of YOUR internet connection. Its just another way that service providers are screwing over the end user. Don't ever think for a second that TMobile is the "un-carrier", they're just better at disguising how they are taking you to the bank.

    • @TechcellentNews
      @TechcellentNews  8 років тому +1

      +Rhino Driver I'm sorry but the cellspot can only be used by the phone numbers on the account it is registered to. Neighbors wouldn't have access to the connection unless they happen to be on your T-Mobile account.

      no but they have 3 different options of cell spot and one is a signal booster so if you get good signal out side but not inside this would be better for you but if you have poor signal near out side and terrible signal inside a internet base one is for you but it is running of your internet so speeds are dependent on your internet and the other one is internet base aswell but just inside a router pretty high end so if you wanted a router upgrade well there you go lol

    apparently, this is only a signal booster according to my reading on the t-mobile website. Units like this, are only good on areas where cell signal are poor (due to distant cell towers). I don't have the full specs on how these units work, but I can bet your calls are routed through the internet when your cell phone is using these units.
