You know, this clip is from 2004, I was 10 years old by then and did not know Evanescence. In the old band days it was very popular really in South America. I am from Argentina. Been a evanescence fan since then.
Played this Song at my little brothers funeral in 2004, to this day this song hits me deep in my soul. He was 18, I’ll never understand and I’ll always hurt, so unfair.
so sorry for your loss... and i feel your pain.. i lost my younger sister in 2012, just a month before she would have turned 23.. do carry on.. if nothing else.. than to prove to yourself.. that you can overcome
This song is almost 20 years old now and came out when I was in my early 20's. It's a song that defiantly hits harder today. Back then, to me it was just a great song by an awesome singer, now it's a very powerful emotional song. I can now relate to the lyrics, but not just towards a specific loss or relationship with someone, but towards my memories, my moments, and my mind. The older we get, the more the memories hurt, not just the sad and/or bad ones, like losing a loved ones, as I have lost both my parents over the last twelve years, but the good ones as well, like having a wonderful childhood, first getting marriage, your children's births and them being young, these memories of life, moments of time, will never be as great as it once was, as certain moments that will never be experienced again like they were when we lived them. My memories, both happy and sad, are slowly killing me as I can't let go and depend on them so much.
I connect deeply with these words. No need to let the memories go though, or let them be a burden. Look forward as well, and create new memories . All the best.
Perfectly said. I feel the same exact way and you put into words perfectly of how I've been feeling lately. Specifically childhood memories. Although good ones, they also hurt because I miss them and cannot go back and relive them, only cherish them all so much more.
Every time I listen to it, I cry, cuz it hits so hard, it's so relatable, and I feel this Is the only time I can let go of my feelings without being judged
I get it. Played this song at my baby brother’s funeral in 2004, he was only 18 and my only sibling. I heard later that Amy wrote this song for her little sister that passed. Powerful song to this day.
I went to see her in concert back in 2017, and lemme tell you, ya'll ain't lived until you've heard her in person, her voice is more beautiful than i thought, and i already thought she sounded great in the first place.
I remember watching this on TV, as soon as the band come in I instantly knew what happened..I felt so bad for her and I have to say, for her to keep it together and finish the song is very commendable. I know some that get shook and make things worse.
@@josephfoster3819 some band members (who eventually left) had decided to sabotage the performance on purpose to hurt Amy Lee and the band's image. And they kinda succeed. Amy was so hurt and pissed by what they did after the show. This was probably the last straw.

@@CosminPerisanThe "right" tune, or key, is what is presently being played here and now on stage, not the recorded album. These are supposedly professional musicians with ears. They really tried to sabotage her but she kept her composure but still realized. This was around the time she was over how the industry and their managers were manipulating and causing chaos. Im glad she left and that’s she’s healthy and happy. Boundaries are everything.
After seeing Evanescence and Lindsey Sterling this past summer you have become even more MAGNIFICENT! Spanning generations, I am 49, my daughter is 22. We thoroughly enjoyed the entire concert!!
It is actually not the fault of the guitarists; they are perfectly in tune. Most don't realize this but award shows/many concerts besides don't use a grand piano, but a digital piano inside a hollow grand piano casing to make things easier on the technicians (you can see the controls at the top of the video; also note that the lid would have to be open to place mics). The piano was transposed down a semitone and Amy (not having perfect pitch, like 99.9% of the population) didn't realize before she started. The orchestra is actually transposing their sheet music on the fly - an impressive skill, but you can still hear them struggling to stay in tune. Of course once the guitars come in and start blasting in F# minor overtop everything else in F minor, it's all over.
I don't think that's what happened. If you look at Amy's hand she is playing the song half a key lower. She is doing it consciously and not because the piano was transposed. Also, it would be extremely hard for a whole orchestra to transpose the song just like that on a live performance at an important event like that. I just think the band were given guitars and bass in the wrong tuning. It happens sometimes, unfortunately. It happened in what you want at Rock in Rio, for example. I just think that at the second they realized they were out of key they should have stopped playing so that at least Amy and the orchestra could finish the song in peace
@ Pedro I agree with you. The band bass and guitar were not in the right tuning. Orchestra and the grand piano had a half a semitone difference in my opinion ( a little fraction). Amy was already confused before the band came in and that's why she was also out of tune in some parts. She should always stuck to her piano key no matter what and just let herself prevail as the main spotlight. She did it (follow her piano key) in the ending part somehow although she stopped playing the piano and that justified her. Mine is just a hindsight but it's very difficult to do in the actual situation to be honest.

Here's what happened and this is what John Lecompt personally told me when I recorded with him...he said there was a little button on the back of the keyboard that she forgot to push that put it back to standard tune, it was left at half step down. So when the band came in it sounded like a total Trainwreck, they were playing it as rehearsed. I asked him " but what about the orchestra, they sounded fine"? Hauntingly gorgeous!!!
I feel so sorry for her! She did such an amazing job and then they sounded awful. You can tell by her "wow" at the end, shaking her head. I would be pissed too Amy! Her voice is flawless though so the band didn't even matter. I really liked it.
Actually, she didn't sound too good through the whole performance. Im thinking they didnt have her moniters up, so she couldnt hear herself. Thats really what it sounded like.
They should have given that drummer the night off
@@bengunns9500 Really I think the whole band was off, the string section was quite good though.
Then you're tone deaf
@@jmsfabrication7821 She has some pitch issues when performing live
Amy's songs consoled my yearning nights. Impressing much on Amy's voices.
3:11 hey what is wrong with the bass guitarist?
he's dancing! LOL
Everything else seems out of tune
I love her Songs She is so beautiful and I hope she has a wonderful life
Easily one of the sexiest women alive, with on of the best voices, vocal ranges and pure tallent i've ever had the pleasure to listen too. Absolutely stunning. You don't get the credit you deserve in the mainstream market.
