I always feel like I owe YN's some money after I watch their videos. I can't believe they post all of this education for Free! Lol. They are extremely helpful and I am so grateful that they do this. Thank you!
I don’t mind spending money with this company because you all really care and put time into explaining these steps in detail. I will always support this company.
That helped me so much....I was taught to start at free edge🥺wasted hundreds of dollars from another company & I got frustrated & nearly gave up...BUT since seeing your videos I can see where I was going wrong & why it was taking too long to do a full set of 💅...WOOOOHOOOO, I AM NOW A 'YN' DEVOTEE, have subscribed, joined & can't wait for my new YOUNG NAIL products to arrive next week🎉🥳💅👏🎁🎉💅THANKS GREG👍😊🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
What's so sad is that I was taught in nail school to build my nails from the tip to the cuticle area using the 3 ball method and I have always struggled wit nails too thick...this is why! Thanks for educating us on the proper way to do 3 balls!!!
Not sad, all schools teach that way. Many companies have their own techniques (similar to hair) so finding what works for you after school is where you learn to perfect your craft
Saaaaaame! 3 bead method is how my school teaches and it sucks. I can’t seem to do a moderate sized nail. It’s always too thick. This video is soooo good.
This is exactly what I do and I didn't realize that was alot of my problems! I love that these videos come up everyday with the issues I'm currently having xx
BINGO! I did my best nail EVER after watching this video. It’s absolutely correct and now I know why my nails were always chunky, thick and mis-shaped. Like the other people say, thousands of videos from reputable professionals say we should begin at the nail edge. It’s taken eighteen months struggling and almost giving up trying to teach myself, as everywhere was shut during lockdown. YOU ARE A GENIUS, LEGEND AND STAR 🤩 Thank you Thank you Thank you xxxxx I will not watch anyone else for training now. Wish I lived in the USA to attend your school 🥰
I qualified 8 weeks ago in acrylic application and I was taught to start from the tip and work back, I've found my nails to turn out so thick and I had alot of filing to do to make them look better. I am going to try working from the cuticle down and see how I go. I love these videos
Gotta say I’m addicted to your channel 😍 Starting my training next year, so getting in early with all the master tips! 49 yrs old and starting my new avenue of life, been a polish freak for years, gonna take it pro! 💅🎉💜👌🤩
This just changed my whole life I'm a licensed cosmetologist and I do my own nails but was never confident enough to offer that service because I wanted to be consistent with my services. This just showed me what I've done wrong. Not just the apex but just watching your whole technique!!! Mind blowing!!!🤯
I've been a nail tech for over 30 years, I was taught to do nails like you teach them, several years later after my daughter became an adult she wanted to go to school so I sent her where I went ,the instructor didn't know how to really do nails so I taught her and everything I was teaching her they said was wrong that's why I ran a successful nail salon for 35 years just want to thank you so much for teaching the way you do it served me well hope it helps the new comers also!!
My nail school shows your videos and uses your products. Pathetic thing is, I've been watching your videos for years now, and if I didn't need the physical school in my state to pass me for the cert to test for license, I could have saved soooooo much money! LoL Love y'all ❤
OMG!!!! I was told 3 pearls. Middle FIRST, Drag forward ADD ADD ADD. This makes so much more sense. But the real thing is getting that PEARL right. It just comes off your brush and nearly sets itself. And I think this method means less filing near the cuticle. I am so glad I found this channel. THANK YOU!
Greg..you are such a good teacher! I have learned so many valuable tips from you and the team at YN! If I was down in Cali I would probably wind up taking classes from you but since I live elsewhere, I'll have to make due with the UA-cam videos....which you guys have put out so many of them with fabulous content......Thank You!
This video is definitely going to be a game changer for me! I've always started from the middle and worked backwards and I ALWAYS have so much filing to do.. I can't wait to try this! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us💗
Thank you Greg & Habib for taking the time to show us all your wealth of experience. You do such lovely tutorials & explain them so well to us. I love watching your post's thanks again for all your help 😊💖💅🏻😘☕☕☕🍰🥧
OMFG !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is my exact problem !! I asked you once how long it should take to do a full set and you responded immediately. I am literally in tears cause this is exactly what I needed and I am using your products !!
I am so grateful for your videos. I love doing nails, but I am not interested in going into business. These videos have helped me learn how to do my own nails safely and properly. Thank you so much for sharing so much quality education.
OMG, I wish I would have saw this video before I sculpted my nails! As a new nail tech I couldn’t figure out why my nails overall are so bulky, I be filing down bulk for a while ! I want to take off my nails and start again with this method! This was nail life changing! I’m going to review this video several times with my practice hand until I get it right. Thank y so much...❣️
So true and grateful for this video. I was trying to understand why mine are thick and I have to file, which is time consuming and difficult as a beginner
Oh…..and the best bit…….almost zero filing! And that was my first attempt! And it was midnight! I couldn’t rest until I gave this a whirl. Used way less product too …..as soon as I use up all my stock, I’ll be switching to your YN supplies as they must be as good as YOU xxx
Interesting I taught myself and have been applying from the cuticle to tip. This was something I learned through experimenting and I wasn’t sure if it was correct but I get compliments all the time that my nails are well shaped and asked how I achieve it. My nails have a strong natural arch and i feather them around the cuticle versus many I see bubble up mine look natural around the edge. I’ve noticed that my nails are less apt to break and be damaged. This was an issue I had early on. One day I had an epiphany to not use any nail extensions because they can cause too much buildup not to forget they can easily chip/break. Now I can tell them it’s all about application and refer them here. TY, Subscribed!
Now I see where I went wrong with my first set. Got the free edge nicely shaped, absolutely slayed the cuticle on my first attempt by pointing the finger down. All great. Went to add my apex bead and ended up with a mound that took me about a decade to file 😒 Why? Because I didn't blend it backwards into that second bead first 🤦♀️ Thank you so much for this. You have saved future me from a ton of filing!
I have watched COUNTLESS acrylic nail building videos all year long. I bought my first acrylics last December! I literally did my FIRST nail the other day… it was like I was watching myself when he did it the beginner way 😂 I digress, this is the most concise, AMAZINGLY explained video and I feel like if I had seen this video ALONE at the beginning of my acrylic journey, I would’ve started MUCH sooner 😅 I am sooooo thankful for you both and this channel!
My apex back in the days when i started doing nails was so not acceptable and it looked so flat because mostly here in india people or i can say my clients dont prefer that curve to the nails cause naturally in india our nails dont have that strong arch so they would feel that the nail looked bulky because of the apex so i did it flat many a times but no complaints they wanted it and enjoyed it slowly i made them understand that apex provides support to the nails and it is necessary to have an apex now i have nailed the apex like a pro but it was difficult to get the hang of it to be honest😅but practice and practices makes the skills better😊
Omg! That first nail was the story of my life!! You just keep dropping gems! You totally rock!! I just got my core kit delivered today and can't wait use it! Thanks for these very informative videos
Thanks very much for these points not a beginner but for some reason I do and have struggled with my apex I guess it's about consistency of application and product hmm okay got it practice makes perfect thanks again
I absolutely adore Greg... he is very clear and concise when explaining things and kudos to the camera person for getting such great angles so we can see clearly what Greg is explaining. You guys rock.
Agree they teaching you to start at the tip when starting or building the Apex from the tip?! I was confused at first, I was like wait, he's not meaning building from the start?! But I paused it, then I read their description box and it says WHEN BUILDING THE APEX, START AT THE CUTICLE. So that's why I'm asking if you mean they want you to start building the nail trim the tip (which is correct) or building the Apex from the tip?!
He is starting at the tip to build the flat extension first then he goes on to the cuticle area he’s saying don’t work from the tip and go back but once you have the tip sculpted you should start at the cuticle and work your way down
So pretty much if your not using tips you need to place your first bead on the free edge then once you’ve sculpted your tip you place the second bead at the cuticle and work your way down ☺️
Most schools teach that way, these are our techniques, a lot of brands have their own techniques. Not saying this is what you should be doing at state board however this is what we believe to be best techniques for in salon.
Your videos are so so helpful, when i was taught many years ago we were taught the 3 ball method and to start in the middle. these look so natural with the apex. I have really been enjoying your nail tutorials and all your content. Keep up the great work guys!! Loving my cover pink powder and all young nails products i have used by the way very happy i made the swap!! Thanks from Australia!!
I have a hard time estimating the size of my beads, it would be really hopeful if you guys made a practice sheet with the different sizes of beads for the free edge cuticle and blending bead. I know the size of bead will also vary by the length of the client's nails and will need to be adjusted to each client but it would be nice to have a point of reference
A good reference point is about 1/2 the size of the area you are working on. Check out Greg's video on picking up acrylic beads. He goes over sizes and how to consistently pick up diff sizes
This channel is the most informative and clear guide for beginners I have found. I have learned so much and I've only watched 2 videos! Lol. Thank you! I barely started to do nails and my nails are bulky. This showed me what I was doing wrong. Great videos!
i'm currently teaching myself acrylic but ive never been able to build a nail using forms before. the techniques you show in this video have sddenly made the little light flick on, it makes sense now why i kept failing when sculpting from scratch! thank you again for another amazingly educational video
Definitivamente he aprendido más viendo y practicando con ustedes que en cualquier taller o seminario que haya tomado hasta ahora! Les deseo éxito en todo lo que emprendan... saludos!
Thank you so much for this video! I understand now why my nails are bulky in the apex area. I was taught to start from the free edge and build backwards. I am so glad I came across this video because the penny has now dropped for me!
Great video! Thank you for all the helpful tips & techniques! Would love to see an apex structure tutorial using gel. A video on Building an apex using gels with different viscosities would be super helpful!
Greg!!! I wish I could send you a picture!! All I can say is THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO ESPECIALLY.... AND ALL YOUR OTHER ONES AS WELL!!! This method is gonna change my application for the BETTER!! And my CAREER in this game ☺️👌🏾 THANKS AGAIN 🙏🏽 Peace and continued blessings
Oh my God I just did it happy dance and ended up hitting the chandelier because I was like I knew that you were supposed to start from the cuticle. I've never been to school or at least I haven't been yet so knowing this made me feel like super excited because I just knew it!
Woooooooow I really appreciate this video , my nail tuition was 10,00$ and I’m learning more on UA-cam than I did in class smh this video helped a lot ! My new method !
Offically learned that i was watching the wrong videos before today. For the second time today, THANK YOU YN! lol this is much simpler than the 3 pearl technique i was using and i haven't even utilized it yet! 💜
Really enjoyed this. Since I started learning I've really wanted to see a video about judging nail shape based on person's finger size and shape. Using myself as a prime example- long slender fingers with slight bend in index fingers. I admit, I'm a lockdown beginner but I find it fascinating that I seem to create the illusion of straighter fingers using gel nail extensions, but I never see any videos that talk about improving the look of a person's hand/fingers, being creative with extensions. Would love a professional take on this
There really are a lot of "illusions" you can create with artificial nails! For example, if the finger or nail bed curves to the side, you can position the form so it is straight in line with the base knuckle, not the nail. On the form, it will look like the nail is being sculpted crooked, but once finished, the nail will look straight with all of the other fingers. You can also create the illusion of a more narrow nail when working on a wider nail by pressing in the c-curve of the free edge. In addition, longer/almond/stiletto nails make fingers look longer whereas square nails can make fingers look shorter.

@@youngnailsinc thanks! And thanks for the amazing tutorials you guys always do. They are very much ch appreciated 🙏 ☺️
That’s crazy cause I’m school we’re taught to start at the tip, that’s how state board wants it done also during the practical test.
I'm in the same position.
Agree they teaching you to start at the tip when starting or building the Apex from the tip?!

Thanks from Australia!!
A work of Art you explained it so well.
This video, technique & explanation was FLAWLESS. Thank you🙏🏾
Glad it was helpful!
Tammy Taylor has one you can print out.

Thank you for this tip! I needed to hear this! Newbie here!
