    What's so sad is that I was taught in nail school to build my nails from the tip to the cuticle area using the 3 ball method and I have always struggled wit nails too thick...this is why! Thanks for educating us on the proper way to do 3 balls!!!

      Not sad, all schools teach that way. Many companies have their own techniques (similar to hair) so finding what works for you after school is where you learn to perfect your craft

    BINGO! I did my best nail EVER after watching this video. It’s absolutely correct and now I know why my nails were always chunky, thick and mis-shaped. Like the other people say, thousands of videos from reputable professionals say we should begin at the nail edge. It’s taken eighteen months struggling and almost giving up trying to teach myself, as everywhere was shut during lockdown. YOU ARE A GENIUS, LEGEND AND STAR 🤩 Thank you Thank you Thank you xxxxx I will not watch anyone else for training now. Wish I lived in the USA to attend your school 🥰

    Interesting I taught myself and have been applying from the cuticle to tip. This was something I learned through experimenting and I wasn’t sure if it was correct but I get compliments all the time that my nails are well shaped and asked how I achieve it.
    My nails have a strong natural arch and i feather them around the cuticle versus many I see bubble up mine look natural around the edge. I’ve noticed that my nails are less apt to break and be damaged. This was an issue I had early on. One day I had an epiphany to not use any nail extensions because they can cause too much buildup not to forget they can easily chip/break.
    Now I can tell them it’s all about application and refer them here.
    TY, Subscribed!

    Now I see where I went wrong with my first set. Got the free edge nicely shaped, absolutely slayed the cuticle on my first attempt by pointing the finger down. All great. Went to add my apex bead and ended up with a mound that took me about a decade to file 😒 Why? Because I didn't blend it backwards into that second bead first 🤦‍♀️ Thank you so much for this. You have saved future me from a ton of filing!

    My apex back in the days when i started doing nails was so not acceptable and it looked so flat because mostly here in india people or i can say my clients dont prefer that curve to the nails cause naturally in india our nails dont have that strong arch so they would feel that the nail looked bulky because of the apex so i did it flat many a times but no complaints they wanted it and enjoyed it slowly i made them understand that apex provides support to the nails and it is necessary to have an apex now i have nailed the apex like a pro but it was difficult to get the hang of it to be honest😅but practice and practices makes the skills better😊

      Agree they teaching you to start at the tip when starting or building the Apex from the tip?!
      I was confused at first, I was like wait, he's not meaning building from the start?! But I paused it, then I read their description box and it says WHEN BUILDING THE APEX, START AT THE CUTICLE. So that's why I'm asking if you mean they want you to start building the nail trim the tip (which is correct) or building the Apex from the tip?!

    • @Aplusnails
      @Aplusnails 4 роки тому +3

      He is starting at the tip to build the flat extension first then he goes on to the cuticle area he’s saying don’t work from the tip and go back but once you have the tip sculpted you should start at the cuticle and work your way down

    • @Aplusnails
      @Aplusnails 4 роки тому +5

      So pretty much if your not using tips you need to place your first bead on the free edge then once you’ve sculpted your tip you place the second bead at the cuticle and work your way down ☺️

    • @youngnailsinc
      @youngnailsinc  4 роки тому +21

      Most schools teach that way, these are our techniques, a lot of brands have their own techniques. Not saying this is what you should be doing at state board however this is what we believe to be best techniques for in salon.

    I have a hard time estimating the size of my beads, it would be really hopeful if you guys made a practice sheet with the different sizes of beads for the free edge cuticle and blending bead. I know the size of bead will also vary by the length of the client's nails and will need to be adjusted to each client but it would be nice to have a point of reference

    Great video! Thank you for all the helpful tips & techniques!
    Would love to see an apex structure tutorial using gel. A video on Building an apex using gels with different viscosities would be super helpful!

    Oh my God I just did it happy dance and ended up hitting the chandelier because I was like I knew that you were supposed to start from the cuticle. I've never been to school or at least I haven't been yet so knowing this made me feel like super excited because I just knew it!

    Thank you so much! I will definitely try this next time. My nails always come out too thick since I start from the free edge..

    Really enjoyed this. Since I started learning I've really wanted to see a video about judging nail shape based on person's finger size and shape. Using myself as a prime example- long slender fingers with slight bend in index fingers. I admit, I'm a lockdown beginner but I find it fascinating that I seem to create the illusion of straighter fingers using gel nail extensions, but I never see any videos that talk about improving the look of a person's hand/fingers, being creative with extensions. Would love a professional take on this

      There really are a lot of "illusions" you can create with artificial nails! For example, if the finger or nail bed curves to the side, you can position the form so it is straight in line with the base knuckle, not the nail. On the form, it will look like the nail is being sculpted crooked, but once finished, the nail will look straight with all of the other fingers.
      You can also create the illusion of a more narrow nail when working on a wider nail by pressing in the c-curve of the free edge. In addition, longer/almond/stiletto nails make fingers look longer whereas square nails can make fingers look shorter.
