“How do two brothers get into the nail care business?” This is the single most common question people ask us. There’s a long and rocky version but we’ll give you the short one. We have our fearless and unconventional mother, Young Salo, to thank. With a single-minded entrepreneurial spirit, she decided to start her own business at the age of 49. She had a passion for the nail industry and we did everything in our power to support her. In the end, this is a family business.
Greg, the older brother, became a licensed nail technician after switching gears from fire fighter’s training. He is energy personified and has a true passion for developing the best professional nail care products and education. Habib is the younger brother. He jumped in a few years later; taking a detour from medical school and a life in music. He brings his own creative mind for business, marketing and strategy. Unexpectedly, we are a perfect team.
Today, more than 20 years later, Young Nails Inc., is a professional nail care manufacturing company exporting to over 40 countries worldwide and distributing domestically to over 3000 stores. We’re respected for our next-level product innovation and education. Our mission is to bring you the best quality products and we’ll show you how to use them with incredible results. It’s really that simple.
Welcome to the Young Nails family!

Can you do this video for someone with really short nails? I struggle with the thick to thin balance on the shorter nails.
Also, what's the proper thickness for encapsulated nails?

Same as in this vid just with art at the base. We do a lot of demonstrations of encapsulated on the real time series

Currently saving up so I can make a huge purchase from you guys on my birthday (May 1st). I’m not licensed but I only plan on learning to do my own nails. I wanted to go to school but the loans were a lot of money, currently in the medical field and I take care of my mother for a living. Quickly learning from your videos, fast nail shops in NY do it all wrong 😳 my nails always lift, and their designs are always lack luster. Definitely going to keep learning with you guys ❤️

For me, I always go by the lifestyle of the person I am working on. A credit card thickness for instance looks beautiful and more natural, but only for someone who has a a desk job with no kids for example. I personally do my own nails very thin and naturally, but the the roughest thing I do with my nails is the dishes since I hurt my ankle and quit the gym for a while. For an active gym goer, a bartender, or similar hands on career or a woman with children.. I will do them thicker.

This is honestly why I primarily use YN products, because they are far superior products to work with and it's a breeze to make those adjustments. Some products from other brands are difficult to work with and the subjective adjustments have to be taken care of with filing.

Thanks Greg, this really helps. I've just taken all my nails off & re-done them almond shape. They're not as long as Stephanie's, but I've got the free edge just a little thicker than a credit card. I've got them fairly thin at the cuticle & built up a third of the way from the cuticle to my apex & sloping down to the free edge. I'm so pleased with the way they turned out. Thanks again for your help, I really appreciate it.😊💅💖😘

Another great video Greg, my only critique is that in the end profile pics, a side profile wasn't shown. You spent so much time explaining that apex - which I am grateful for, it would have been nice to see a pic from the side to get the full view.
I see a lot of requests for a shorter nail version, may I ask that on top of that shorter nail version you still make it coffin.
Every time I see coffin nails they are soooo long, to long for me to wear and function. Can you show an active length, or the shortest length possible with it still being a coffin. I try and do it on my own and it doesn't work out, I end up with squoval.
    Thanks,
    Cat

I am currently teaching myself and practicing as much as I can before I enroll in nail school this fall. I CANNOT express how informative this was!!! We get so many opinions on thickness, apex, and c curves that it can be hard to know if I’m doing it correctly. I currently do my own and struggled to file down to the credit card thickness because I just knew I would break them to pieces. (I have 2 kids and 3 dogs!) so I stay at about 1.5 credit card thickness and it works wonderfully. To have professionals and educators back that up elates me to the moon!!! I have way more confidence just knowing I’m not crazy or doing acrylic too think. Thank you thank you THANK YOU!!!

My thing is how do I make it thin while still encapsulating things like confetti/chunky glitter/Mylar/foil? I can keep it thin easily until I start getting into the more in depth art and then when I encapsulate I always end up like a millimeter or two too thick. Which is a lot on a nail.

I feel that if a person can master the ability to balance thickness throughout the nail....this is one of the keys to a very well done nail, not only mechanically but aesthetically as well. I have been laser focused on building the right structure so that the nail looks AWESOME, and not like a club glued to a finger. Thank you YN for always putting out fabulous information for us....you guys are loved !💜💙💚💛🧡

When removing be sure to do so with an efile as to not thin out your natursl nails. No real difference in application

Unfortunately, we can't speak on other products as we don't test them. You could try using more monomer or reaching out to those companies about advice for using their products.

I know that you talk about acrylic but I received my gel products last week and I am anxious . When I looked at you with the pink concealer, how come yours seems more liquid than mine?? Did you change the recipe or if you put your brush in some liquid before going in the pot?? Please, help cuz I have an other hand to do.

All the same consistency, the gels vary between each other. EX: flex is thinner than clear sculpt. All the concealer colors are the same though.

I have a question...I love ❤️ nails but do you think technology will replace people who do nails and robots will do our nails. I know art and love art so I know Mona Lisa was painted but could a computer do what Leonardo did?
