Steve, I've loved your fishing for years now. I'm moving down there in 4 more years. My dad has lived there for 30 years, and it's so beautiful. I can't wait to be on my kayak, with all my add-ons and toys. And enjoy motoring the flats, mangroves, and Backcountry. To cold up the coast. Those are my favorite videos you post. I'll be 52, and fish all I can. 🎣 🌊 🌴
Steve a even better solution but harder to find would be a bamboo stick. Bamboo wont rot as fast as pine and its not as heavy yet its still very strong and floats and looks cool!
How about bamboo, would be much stronger and it floats but the best part is it is usually FREE!
I’m down in the keys now and have been keeping my eyes peeled for a glimpse of key west Kayak 😎
Hope you find him! Give him a big "Hi Steve!" from all of us. 😄
David Harris , will do!👍
Excellent job and great idea Steve. I can't wait to see more flats fishing.
7:46 by far my favorite park of this video!
I love your videos live learned a lot from watching them from Jacksonville Florida 👌👍
I built mine with 1"pvc with a wooden insert. No problems.
👍 Great video Steve, enjoying ur sharing how u improvise on the yak improvements. From 1 tinkerer to another, keep'em coming!!😀😊🇺🇸
Adapt and overcome!😎
I made one using same wood years ago, works well but starts warping after a while
Made one similar years ago and added about a 3-4 foot piece of pvc to the end. You already have the cap. It’s a little flexible but it worked for a 17 angler till I sold the boat. You’re not pushing even half the weight.
That turtle was gorgeous! Now go do some fishing!!
who else remembers when he use to respond to comments... 😭
I used a telescopic shrimp net Handle. Goes from 8 foot to around 14.
Look into pool skimmer poles. 4-12 foot telescoping aluminum is $20.98 at Lowe’s.
Ok, think Louisianna, Cajun country. They are called "Pirogue poles" pronounced "pirro" poles, been around a long time. Carry on. Steve! Luv ya!
All you need is a trolling motor build
Sorry. Knew to this. Can you please explain the purpose of the stainless steel point? Thank you.
David Martino I would say it’s for wear and tear
Stabbing wood into coral degrades the wood quickly.
The steel point protects the wood shaft.
Plus. stupid sharks hate it when stabbed with a steel tip!
Actually sand will wear the tip very blunt making it hard to sink in the bottom when using as an anchor rod.
What’s the high of your casting platform?
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Look at hobie kayak modification. Guy name is modification power. Check out what he did to his kayak Stevie.
Check out a new (used pickup). You won't regret it.
At one point
Do you think we can fish together
Should the wood fail, try electrical conduit. Capping off both ends will make it float. Putting expandable foam insulation inside would probably make it stronger.
Just don't hold it up in the air in an electrical storm... :)
I just used one of those 10 - 12 foot hollow aluminum pool cleaning poles. Almost same diameter as the real push poles so the duck foot attachments fit almost perfectly in side
I did the same when i actually found the skimmer pole stuck in the mangroves off islamorada. Maybe you lost yours lol.
Wow I bet no one would have been able to make a wooden push pole without this video lol
