  • Someone in the studio (with the initials W.K.) got tired of watching "KOTJ" being taught incorrectly on UA-cam. So, on a challenge, that same complainer taught our "resident youth" William Olivas to play it correctly. If William can do it, anyone can. And now you can, too. Finally! Now, once more, with feeling...
    KEY SIGNATURE:
    E E/G A
    Well I feel pretty good
    E E/G A E E/G A E E/G A
And I guess that I could get crazy..... now baby
    E E/G A
Cause we all got in tune
    E E/G A E E/G A E E/G A
And when the dressing room got hazy.................now baby

Let me up on the stand, And let me kick out the jaaaaams!

    Kick out the jaaaams!
    Bar Chords Used by William:

D (fifths, open A string, muted top E string)
A (fifths, played on bar chord E position)

When I met Brother @Wayne Kramer back in the late 70s I was 16 years old and laying down rhythm tracks for Fats Deacon's semi-hit "What you wanna be?" I was vamping the whole song and my hand and forearm (of my fretboard side) were killing me.
I didn't think I could go back in to do my backup power chords.. Not with conventional Barre chords, so Brother Wayne said, "Hey kid, why don't you just play 5ths?" I was confused. Then when he showed me what 5ths were I said, "Oh yeah.. I know those, I just didn't know they were called 5ths." So that was the first thing Brother Wayne ever taught me.. Thank you, Sir. He taught me so much after that, I owe him much.

…But it’s not only Wayne’s guitar that is special, his dancing on stage, looking as he is at times in a state of levitation ,brings the performance to an entirely different level! Thank you!

Rest in power Wayne ,,I saw MC5 when they came to the UK at the Greyhound south London all those years ago , I’ve seen many bands over the years but that was wild,, Fred sonic smith was wearing some kind of cape that got caught in the tuners of his guitar and it wouldn’t come off ,he was getting really pissed offwith it , so he took the guitar off and started swinging it round Holding onto the cape , how that guitar didn’t go flying out into the crowd and hit someone I’ll never know , i think someone from the road crew sorted it out but that has always stuck in my mind ,

Thank you very much for taking the time “Professor”.
I’m someone who was fortunate enough to attend the concerts of all the greats, back in the day.
So now and then someone will ask me “what was the greatest show”?
The first one that always comes to mind is one which I saw at the old Boston Garden.
A triple bill with your MC5-Johnny Winter-Led Zeppelin.
Man oh man, talk about kickin’ out the jams!
Thank you for that unforgettable moment in time.
For this old geezer, who was a teenager at the time ,could there be anything cooler, than listening to your band while the police are breaking up a rival motorcycle gang fight, on the floor in front of you?
    Those were different times.
Congratulations, on being one of the survivors. And thank you to the powers above, who granted us a reprieve.
    Keep rocking and breathing.

Wayne -- just watched the Tarter Field video ... and you were playing that KOTJ riff at the 7th position too ... so there must have been some freedom from that Phil Spector 'wall of sound' thing you and Fred may have done at times ... Truth be told, I was like 15, and was at that Tarter Field gig ... hottest thing I'd ever seen. I bought the first MC5 album at 'The Other Place' in Old Redford, MI (headshop, clothes, etc.) perhaps when I was 14, with special instructions from the store owner NOT to show the album to my parents ... I did see you guys at the Grande, but after the era ... closer to the end, but that was when I had the transportation and ID to be there. Best wishes for the inspiration you've been to me.

Professor Wayne, I'm 56 and I cannot believe I've never heard of MC5. That is a sin! Digging your toons, this channel and appreciate your attitude towards the man. Things are hard enough as it is for the young generations, some aren't even aware of the roots of their disempowerment back in the 60's/70s.

  • @michaelesralian1268
    @michaelesralian1268 Рік тому +2

I have seen the MC-5 play that song in person back in 1968 and 1969. Their guitar parts were always maximum volume through huge Marshall Amps and a whole lot of distortion. Distortion is used by many rock groups on the guitar parts, both back then and now. Now that I am older I prefer guitars with less distortion and a clearer sound. Back then the MC-5 were pure high energy to the max and without any restraint. They were the founders of punk rock before we even knew what that meant.

@@Mff48 Apparently George Clinton used to know them and the stooges, and he went out and bought the big Marshall guitar amps after watching the MC5 .The Stooges, MC5 and Funkadelic used to play on some of the same bills together around detroit back in the early Funkadelic days. 🎸🎸
