- You've been asking, now he's delivering. At long last, a 1-on-1 tutorial for LOOKING AT YOU solos by the man himself. Split into 3 parts for beginners with the help of "resident youth" William Olivas, and then played all at once for the hot-shit players who need to wail with Brother Wayne. Check it out and send us your feedback!

These young pups are SO hung-up on doin' stuff squeak for squawk PERFECT ... When most "Pros" will tell you they have NO Idea what they did - - - they just Let It Rip 🔊🎶
You did do something unique and special and we all loved you showing off, you're a giant!
You are amazing. Long live master. Keep burning roads. Cheers from Chile 🇨🇱
R.I.P Fred "Sonic" Smith!!!✌
That second solo - and the outro - have gripped my imagination for 50 years. One of a couple of candidates I would put forward for Greatest Of All Time.
3:03-3:12 always enjoyed that "slippery" sound.
Cool Brother Wayne! I listen to Kick Out about five times a week! Can't f**king believe that Long Version on German TV or wherever it is. Really glad you're seeming so happy and well-balanced! You deserve all the Respect and Love in the World! (I know, I know, you're thinking: No, I don't, actually). But the truth is, you do! You've made millions of people happy! It's true!
Bless you Brother! R.I.P.
Trilling off into the sunset.when i first heard that solo i was blown away and now watching it played i know why.amazing
Wayne Guitar God!! Love ya!
Brother Wayne Kramer, Looking at You still sounds fresh, awesome.
I love MC5 soo much.
The most important music in my life.. Thank you❤️
Wow a tour announcement and one of the best songs ever taught to me by the man himself, excellent day
Thank you Mr Wayne
Also, check out Deniz Tek' s solo on "Descent Into the Maelstrom" by Radio Birdman. (Stolen, In the best way, from Brother Wayne).
This is just like the best thing ever. I want a Wayne Kramer as my guitar teacher. Please Professor Wayne MORE MORE MORE.
Poor kid being thrown into the hot seat :) You can tell he's nervous. I would be too :)
Yep! Wayne never actually prepared me. He just assumed I came to set with the parts ready. I tried my best. I'd kill for another of these videos. Rest in power, my dear friend.
2':22" and three solos . That's still awesome!!!!!
This is so cool! I like when he says, this is just Chuck Berry.
So proud Wayne and MC5 were from Deetroit !!!!!!
This solo fascinated me since 45years ! I always wonder how it was possible !
Another one of life’s greatest mysteries finally revealed! Thank you!
I heard The Damned cover version on Machine Gun Etiquette before the original MC5. The Captains' lead solo is fantastic. They took the it to another level with a great psychedelic ending with keyboards. I must learn those lead pull offs by Wayne on the high E. A great party piece to impress the girls. Brian James does something similar on Neat Neat Neat. Nice one 😊
Uncle Wayne? The kid is blessed.
Yes I am. And you are too.
"That's where we all start. This is the part about playing the guitar that's not fun, and it's not fun to listen to." -Wayne Kramer
Again from Chile! saludos hermano Wayne!!
One of my fav solos for sure, right ratio of psychedelic heavy stuff to traditional stuff
I’ve always wanted to see this song taught, thank you!
This is an absolute privilege. Thank you Wayne
Thank you for teaching us one more precious MC5 song! I will be waiting for more lessons!
Love the last advise/tip... thanks brother wayne
more vids! thanks wayne! cant wait for the tour!
Wayne, you are my hero
I'm getting chills watching this ohhhh man Beautiful
one of the most badass songs ever recorded. they were a bare bones R&R band who could really play, but here they take a stab at pure Metal .that album unfortunately has an infamous place in recording history, as they just about forgot about getting the bass, which gave them little bottom .but still killer for a time when folks wore flowers in their hair.
Fantastic humble and good musician
i was thinking that this was from tne 90´s. Nice to know you are here sharing all you talent.
Great job! I wish these tutorials were around 35 years ago when I was starting out!
Nice clean sound with some real nice vibrato. Love Brother Wayne. That stuff looks easier than it is!
Do "Over And Over" !! please :) oh man this is such a treat
YES! Also the pledge song!
Brother Wayne, Yes! I would love to learn some of your technique and style. Power to the people.
Brilliant solos man. Thanks.
Who brings a Jackson RR model playing 60-70's music??
As you can see, all those notes fell all over the floor! 🤣
A humbucker in the middle position on a Strat?? How cool is that!!
I agree with all 3! I both cringe and smile watching this. Mostly smile though :)
Young guy looks like a mixture between Keanu Reeves and jacob collier. Anyway, turning up the gain Will make more noise! Train the fingers !
Love it
Great!!!
Love you brother
Merci Wayne ♥ ♥ ♥
Thank you wayne.that is soooooo slick.when i first heard that solo i was like this is amazing.the tempo part i knew that wasnt easy to play.that should be in rolling stones top solos
Even though Wayne appears to be using the treble pickup throughout this whole clip, it occured to me in watching this that having a humbucker in the middle slot was a big contributer to Wayne's unique hard-hitting sound w/ the MC5. Not too trebly, not too bassy, but elements of both and BIG sounding.
Happy Birthday Brother!!!
My favourite lead guitar on a record.
Brilliant... that's what I call a guitar solo.. the triplets aren't difficult but it does take some practising.. 😃🎸
We cannot thank Wayne an Co enough this is GOLD
Wayne was a true G.
Grande Wayne
Wayne's triplets! I've been looking for a close up for YEARS! The single version of this has the most amazing overdriven guitar sound, definitely check it out!
Muah louve UUU!!! Oh hellyah!! Man you never lost it...brilliant!!! Luv it!!! Oh yes, waterfalls I hear it
But how did you do jump and do the splits and keep playing.........so freaking awesome!
And the toe drag!
Denis Tek used that riff lots in radio birdman, not only in that song but other birdman stuff.
Yeah, that second part was a monster. The triplets? And I’ve seen you pull it off live too. Great solo.
Wayne keeping Rock n Roll A L I V E
I've used those triplet pulloffs to the max and generally cop to them as Wayne Kramer licks, but I've heard Cliff Gallup, Tiny Grimes and Bach use them also.
In the 70s I played air guitar to these solos hundreds and hundreds of times.... If this sort of training facility had been available then I might even have become a guitarist...!
This rules! I’ve been covering this song for years and that trilling triplet part is still hard! Haha Absolutely LOVE this song, Brother Wayne and the MC5! Please come play Ann Arbor!
Probably my favorite solo eVVer !!! ThanX Wayne for the tutorial.
(Ur only competing with Alvin Lee in I'd Love To Change The World ;)
This is really cool watching Brother Wayne play these tunes, how about Thunder Express Wayne? I have an 09 Pontiac G8 6.0L car and was going to have Thunder Express painted on the door in gold but haven't gotten around to it yet. You still got it Wayne. I'm an old rocker too and got two 70's SVT set ups at home, they knock the wall over if I want.
Wayne, it's so cool to see you here. The Wayne State live footage really blew my mind, since I have been listening to 'The Damned's' version of 'Looking at You' for 35 years, and didn't even realize they hadn't written it. I'm wondering what you think of Captain Sensible's version of the lead guitar?
Can't believe this .. what a rare treat !👀
that's what I said.
@@tonym994 what u mean 'rare treat'?
Yes was going to say not only solos but the whole band if the chemistry is right improvises when it works it’s sublime when it does t it’s so so
You can hear the influence of this song all over Captain Sensible’s playing on The Damned’s Machine Gun Etiquette as well as songs like I Think I’m Wonderful..Well- they cover this song as well.!
Cvp1969 His solo on their cover of this is terrific. Great tune to improvise to.
Cvp 1969 Well said Matey, yep massive influence on the Old Cap'n, that slide down to the open E on the solos of Smash it up and Under the Floor Again. best Geetarist out there in my Humble! along with Wayne of course!
Hey Brother Wayne, Can you do a guitar lesson for "Sister Anne"?
I heard my Uncle Mike Davis wrote some of the lyrics for this song. Is that true professor Wayne?
ta loko bixo
The MC5 were probably the least successful most influential band in rock and roll history. Yet if you look at the School of Rock music history chart they aren't on it. Who is on it? Well Iggy Pop of Iggy and the Stooges. Who were their compadres playing at the Grande Ballroom with them. Motorhead. Which was founded by Lemmy after watching the MC5. Alice Cooper. Who borrowed from their stage performance and presentation. Patti Smith, who married Fred Smith. Then you have all the 80's punk bands that borrowed heavily from their music.
Greatest, straight up, rock and roll band of all time..👍
Since when was the School of Rock music history chart authoritive? Also MC5 influenced the New York Dolls who in turn influenced all the punk and glam bands
Fuck yeah
WAYNE IS THAT THE ORIGINAL AMERICAN FLAG GUITAR.
No, it's not...he long ago sold that guitar to a pawn shop for heroin money.
Are you watching Screw Lemieux game 5 from the '96 Western Conference Final at the Joe?
maybe a bit out of tune, but if you've heard it on their(Atlantic) 'Back in the USA' ,you'll appreciate this more.
Wayne do you still own the actual kick out the jams strat or is yours a custom shop model?
Custom shop. He left his legacy (and gear) behind in the 60s.
Do you still own the actual Stars and Stripes strat?
What gauge strings did you use for this solo? I'm guessing the high E is a 9 gauge?
Wayne was set on 10s. I play 9s.He always said the chicken fat was what gave his strings their bite. His guitar tech would say different.
Wayne, do you still do paid session work? I think it would be a dream come true if you played on my song about American gun violence 😁✌️
Chuck Berry. Really, what else is there?
Can I be the kid at your knee though
Is Brother William up for learning and showing off that whirl-kneedrop-hold up the guitar move that you did at 9:44 at the Tartar Field show?
QuarrellaDeVil your a real piece of work. U lie
I have told no lie in the *question* that I asked Brother Wayne. I'll make you a little deal: You show me where I have told a lie here. If I've lied, I'll retract it. If you're wrong, you'll make an attempt to learn to read (and write) things before you start typing and making stupid accusations. Go read what I said again, but this time, slowly.
J.B. Rocks75 It's there, just like he said. Don't know what you're talking about.
5 years too late, but I AM DOWN TO LEARN even if it means i can't have kids after
the bad
