Been looking at this watch for a while. Watched loads of reviews on here, all extremely positive.
I have been triggered, took the plunge and ordered the gold/black NH35 version.
Paid £155 or $197 at todays exchange rate.
Really looking forward to receiving this watch.
Thanks for the review.
So how is it? Did it shipped??
I picked one up (with black dial) for $164 before taxes during the June Aliexpress sale. Agree it's an excellent value but has it's rough spots. Love having the quick adjust, but as you mention it's hard to deploy--not smooth at all. Second, a couple of the bracelet screws were almost impossible to unscrew--in fact a couple would not budge at all. But can't complain too much for the price.
I just got the black/gold one in from the AliX sale for $165, and I gotta say I’m very impressed! Can’t think of anything better for the price. Hands and indices are fantastic.
My only real complaints are that the crown is WAY too small, and although the clasp micro-adjust is great, it’s a little finicky to use
Just received the Seestern Doxa homage and I’m BLOWN away by the quality. Makes me seriously question paying 10 or 20x for a diver…
Damnit Chris, you just made me buy another watch 😭…😊
Thanks for the great review as always!
The SeaQ has been a favorite since I first saw it. This is going on my "gotta get it" list.
Looks phenomenal, especially at that price. Love the numerals, and overall clean dial and bezel insert. Luminescence seems to be really strong and nice even application. Good stuff, Chris!
Your the first review of the green version with a macro shot thank you so much
After a bit of a shipping issue, I finally got my hands on this puppy. I'm loving it! The lume is awesome.
I just picked up this same watch in the all blue variant. Other than a little back play on the bezel, it’s pretty much perfect. I put mine on a navy blue rubber tropic strap and it looks killer.
Thanks!
You can also get this watch with a high beat movement for a tad bit more.
S435. I have one in blue dial...and it's my favorite daily wear tool watch. Price~US$200.
My black and gold version showed up today. You are not wrong. This is a fantastic watch. I managed to get it for $176. What an insane value. Only issue I see is the bracelet could use a couple extra links for bigger wrists. Mine also came with a nice nylon two piece black strap similar to the seaq but with pin buckle instead of the clasp on the seaq
Love the SeaQ, but I'll never afford one, so when I saw this watch a week ago, I waited about 2 hours before ordering one. Sounds like I made a good choice!
I already own a Seestern Doxa homage and the build quality is ridiculously good. I have this watch coming in. I chose the blue with gilt and gold accents. These watches are very well made.
My Blue/Gilt arrived today. It’s ridiculous how nicely this watch is put together!
Chris, I pulled the trigger on this watch after seeing your review. I got the black version. This really is a terrific watch. The quality control, fit and finish, and features are extremely impressive. I think your comment about the prices for Swiss watches is very insightful. Seestern is producing this watch for under $200 bucks. Recognizing the fact that the movement is an NH35, I have a hard time understanding why prices are so inflated for the name brand watches. Great channel and review.
Living in CH, I own a few Swiss and German watches. The fit/finish/quality/precious metals...they are special luxury time pieces.
HOWEVER, I do not wear them daily and avoid taking them on travel. The Seestern S435 (blue dial) is my favorite daily driver. ST2130 high beat movement and all the bells and whistles of watches that command prices well over $1000.
I should also note that my last routine maintenance on that Rolex cost me as much as FIVE of the S435's. I wonder what the maintenance on my G.O. Senator will run...but I suspect it will be even higher than that of the Rolex.
My green just arrived. AMAZING for the money. Thanks for the recommendation. Keep up the good work Chris. Love your videos 👍
Is the dial matte or sunburst?
@@SunnySingh-sf4hjMatt
I received one about a month ago and the moment I sized it and put it on I swore I would never spend big money on a watch again. In addition the movement is as accurate as my sw300 in my CW or the power magic 80 in my Hammy.
Nice watch and good review
great review the lume is fantastic
I have just received the V2 in black and it really takes things one more step up. These are the best 200 bucks I have spent on watches!
Wow Chris! I think you got me here! You didn't even mention the $10 coupon!
Great looking watch😳.
Chris, agree excellent value, with above average movement, etc. My only issue (for me this applies to many homage watches) ... is that it is a homage, lol. I think they could of done something to further differentiate the model, imo.
Just got mine in blue the last week, I also chose the NH35 version, it really is an incredibly well made watch for that price.
Hee2, mine coats 169 in Green, thanks to a Special connection.. Now, I have a homage among PP, Czapek, Chopard, Union, Zenith and others. Best ever deal for below 200 bucks.. 'SUPERLATIVE German'!
That is amazing! You needed to show us your head while showing that lume. I was looking forward to seeing the exploding head!😂😱 i have sworn off buyimg until I thin my collection. If not, this would be on it’s way to my wrist!
Just received the green one.
I think it's really insane quality for the price.. and adjustment is comfortable also.
Did your order take long? I ordered 6 days ago, still has not shipped. They said the watches are assembled after order so need several days to even ship. Frustrating
RIP Chris, his headed exploded.
Looks good, great specs. I just don't feel anything for these kind of homages. But as always: if you enjoy it, wear it! Can't go wrong for that price.
Nice review, and a good looking watch, but many pieces match these specs at this price or lower. A Steel Dive Willard often comes in at $100 less with comparable specs (with the exception of the clasp, maybe).
Chris, would you say the green is lighter on this homage in comparison to the SeaQ which looks much darker?
I just got the blue version, with coupon, $179...... and honestly....... I can't believe what you get for the price. I am a lume junkie and this lume lasts all night and into morning. The case is finished very well and the whole package is pretty darn crazy inexpensive. Super happy with it. You are correct about the case back. Should be solid since even the rotor is nothing to look at. Good review, BTW.
Ordered 6 days ago and they have not shipped. Was that same with you? They told me the watches are assembled after order is placed so it needs a week more to even get processed
@@henrylee8510 They took their time shipping mine too. They never told me why. I had to email them and ask them what was going on. They have models that are "sold out" so I don't know how that would affect "assembling after the order is placed". It did get here well packed and running as it should.
How many times did you say "insane" in this video? 😆🤣😂 I know how you feel because I also bought the black one 😁😁
The overall finishing is very good and the lume is really impressive as it is BGW9.
Totally gobsmacked!!!
This is a really cool watch. I've seen several reports of lumed bezels having the paint fall out, and that makes it almost a deal breaker for me. I'd much rather see this watch without the lumed bezel. Have you guys seen this problem?
Extremely beautiful! I’m just not a green watch guy. Unfortunately
I think this is an amazing watch at an amazing price. Still gonna wait for a sale.
$189 and the bezel lines up with the indices. Seiko can't even do that on a $1,000+ watch.
Been eying that too, definitely great for the budget guy.
What? Nooo waaay. And bezel sounds like my Sub. Lume too? 🤯And dang that Vero is sharp🗡️
Yes Seestern are awesome. Some are better than others.
My black pvd full lume seestern monster is incredible!
My seestern GS diver homage, isnt as good and i had to fix some issues.
This one looks really nice as well and the blue one is perfect, too bad its a bit small ti my wrist.
What abt sugess? I have a sugess moonphaser master and that thing is incredible as well!
Sugess and Seestern are the same company.
@@XjohnjohnX88 and sea kors i know
My thumbs are bloody from running my “insane” and “explode” counters.
You just made me buy one. Lol.
You should also check out the S446 GMT!!!!
I got one a few weeks ago, but the blue version. I love it. The specs are perfect!! The lug to lug is amazing for a diver that isn't a seiko, also it has that awesome micro adjustment.
Simply amazing what these Chinese made watches offer.
I am putting this in my cart. Have you compared it to the San Martin version ?
I have both the San Martin and this Seestern The quality of both are so similar. However, I like the bracelet on this watch better than the San Martin. Also, it's $100 cheaper...
I’m always torn between supporting homages, and not… The fact is I have six or seven in my collection presently and they are some of my most worn watches. I have a handful of watches that most people would consider in the luxury category… It’s impossible for me to justify those purchases when compared to something like this… I’ll be buying a swatch, and it will sit proudly next to my Omega and Rolex.
I am in the same boat. I tend to wear these fantastic CN homages as daily tool watches over the CH luxury time pieces. The fit and finishing on both my Seestern S435 and S446 are incredible at their price points. Best value out there, in my view.
As for the S435 being a homage of the SeaQ...this is debatable...as the SeaQ is a homage of the East German GUB diver...which was a copy of the Le Forban Securite Mer (1969)!!!
If they add a Miyota 9019, thin it down by 1mm and replace the bracelet with a scissor clasp-fitted rubber strap, for an extra $100, I’d buy now.
Very nice
Is the case back mineral or Sapphire
I suspect its mineral on my S435...but I have not tested it. The double domed crystal on the face is sapphire, for sure.
01:26 We all understand, in fact, but prefer to suppress this understanding...
I know why he keeps saying Incredible Value. Because I have this watch, too. This is crazy value for money
Beautiful watch. And Vero hit one out of the park with that line of dive watches. My favorite is the one with the gray dial. They prove the "less is more" mantra.
I think it looks more like a Wolbrook or Douglas Skindiver .
bien
The SeaQ big date is my grail watch…
All their stuff is excellent
You cannot go wrong. It is a steal!
No argument here, at that price point.
I like the watch but that arrow minute hand is a deal breaker.
Great review Chris, thank you. I bought this watch in blue, and I'm sincerely at a loss for words! How can Seestern offer this piece, with such great manufacturing, fit & finish , quality, overall specs, for $189. I don't understand. It is an absolutely remarkable watch for the price, nothing can touch it.
While I understand that part of what we are paying for when it comes to luxury Swiss Made watches is related to R&D, design, better finishing, higher level movements, marketing, and heritage / history, there's a certain percentage that is not warranted, but we pay because of our egos - wanting to flash that higher end luxury piece. Most luxury Swiss Made watches could sell for less, but as long as we are willing to pay the extra money these companies will happily take it.
The Chinese, and I hate to say it, like the Japanese have done, are rapidly closing the gap against the Swiss watch industry.
Thank you again for featuring these great affordable watches.
They can do it because of child labour. Did you not think of this?
@@jonirwin7316 Thank you for your comment. While it is absolutely true that there are many unscrupulous manufacturing practices in China, I do not believe that companies like Seestern, San Martin, and Seagull (Chinas top watch manufacturer) use child labor. If true solid evidence is found, I will be the first to ditch the few watches I have from these companies, and I will never purchase another one.
@@jonirwin7316Beat me to it.
Chris I absolutely agree with your statement of the Swiss or gouging the s*** out of everybody I mean the watches that I have been getting out of China are phenomenal and in most ways way better than what comes out of Japan or Switzerland considering a lot of those companies that are based there are getting the parts from China and then put them together in their countries 😢
...... what an excited lad you are ........ pity your head exploded though ......... oh and strangely for a Seestern the date is not lumed ........
This watch is the difference between India and China. 😊
I simply can’t buy Swiss watches anymore. Like the tittle of the video says, they’re charging up to $10,000 for watches we can get at $200 from China. This watch actually drops to around $150 during sales.
The biggest savings is in the movement.
But it’s one of the best, workhorse, easy to service or buy a new 🤷🏻.. 👍🏻
Can't deny the quality for the price these day's there a few 200 dollar watches that punch way above there weight 😊
Chris, I really like your content and look forward to your videos. To get a watch of that quility at that price means they have to use slave or child labor. I'm all for cheap prices, but cannot support a brand that makes anything like that.
Well, you get what you pay for. There is no free lunch.
Bummer man, it's out of stock. 😕
Question is - why some watches cost so much? Design work aside - CAD/CAM machines allow more companies to this kind of work.
Now you can get toolless micro adjustment on a $200 watch. Meanwhile 1k + watches have a P.O.S pressed casing pressure fit clasp, looking at you Longines. Something really needs to change here.
4 words: Consistent chinese quality control. That's why you pay for Swiss.
To touch on the debate about this being made in China vs Made in Switzerland, it’s no secret that a large part of the Swiss watch product is made in China. My Nivada Grenchen has to be sent in for a warranty movement repair…to Hong Kong.
hahaha if you keep praising the price you are going to ruin it for everyone and they are going to raise the price XD
By the way, it is just a pretty homage with NH35, I think the price is fair... more wouldnt be fair.
I mean the Chinese save a fortune in labor costs with child labor sweat shops 😂😂😂
Not when it comes to these watch factories. However, can't speak for Nike and Adidas sneakers...that's a different story.
How can they afford to build a watch with those specs so cheaply, easy cheap labour costs and in some cases forced child labour.
I don't buy Swiss or European watches anymore. Chinese all the way. Why bother, it's a total rort. This is like the early days when people started buying Japanese cars, and they always rubbished them, but then they figured out they were great. This is the day when Chinese Watches takeover.
I have the Doxa Sub600t homage by Seestern and i could not be happier about it. That is also an obscure model they are profiting off and they also have other kinds at a great price. I want this one in black and golden.
