    2016 GMC Sierra 1500, rear window not working. After checking fuses I found your video, dug right in as you describe and DAMM, it worked! Disconnected the wires to the phone charger and the rear window works! This video and your knowledge is valuable. Saved money for me and many more people, Thank you so much!

    My buddy brought me his high country today and this was the root cause of the no sunroof/rear window..... All three wires broken and shorting to each other intermittently.... In my case only F2 was open and F8 was still good. Just disconnected the plug and cut the harness out to the wireless charger... What despicable design flaw... Thanks for the excellent informative video! It validated my suspicions!

    Thank you so much for this video! I had the exact same problem and your video helped me figure out where the problem was and how to fix it. A HUGE design flaw: 1) running a stiff wiring harness through a hinge that is constantly opened and closed, 2) anchoring the end of the harness close to the impingement point (we all know what happens when you hold a wire with one hand and repeatedly move the other end back and forth - it BREAKS!!! I also believe this is a bigger issue in that, once broken, the power wire grounds against the hinge creating a constant draw. Noticed my batter was getting weak about the same time my sunroof quit working. One day the battery died in the parking lot of a Sams Wholesale...lucky me! I fixed my issue by simply cutting and taping the wires so they would not short. The downside is the iPhone charging pad will not work...but it didn't work anyway. Also lost power to the AC outlet in the back seat. I will get a new harness when and if I decide to replace the phone charger. Thanks again!

      How exactly did you cut and tape the wires together so they dont short? Cut a few inches back from connector expose wires a bit join together and tape right? Thanks

      @@mattpivovaroff2783 I basically cut the wires where they had broken and made sure there was no bare wire showing, then taped the end of each wire separately to keep them separated. After a few months it is still working fine and I have not yet gone back in to replace the harness and charger. One day...

    Service bulletins ate very helpful most of the time. Electrical issues are usually tedious and timely repairs. Thanks for the tips and demo...Nice work and attention to details 😀.

    This was the exact problem that my 2016 HighCountry had. First the sliding window stopped working and then the sunroof about a month later. Thanks for the video, you saved me a lot of time going directly to the problem and the fix.

    You totally helped me fix my 2016 2500 Sierra.This is exactly what was wrong. Wires were severed, I just disconnected the phone charging station I never use. Also annoying because my Manuel has fuses mislabeled so this helped there too) THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR POSTING THIS!

    Had the same problem on 2016 suburban. Thanks. Changed fuse 8 (Seo Rap) and it kept blowing. Unplugged that charger and it still blew fuse. Followed wire to other end and unplugged. Wires were broken halfway across under the tape

    Awsome 2016 Silverdo ltz no sunroof but had the same problem with the back slider. To add to it I went through 2 yellow top batteries warranty thank God. My voltage gauge was jumping around prior to the window finaly failing. I new somewhere something was shorting drawing down my battery I'm wondering if that was causing that issue also. Because when the window stopped working looking back I noticed that my my voltage needle stopped jumping around intermittently. Again thankyou for the video solved my problem the 3 wires were broke inside the factory harness tape. Repaired and all is well.
    Great video.

    Anyone that utters the nonsense phrase that "any vehicle will last as long as you take care of it" has obviously never talked to a knowledgible mechanic. Would proper maintenance save that wiring harness? I'm not saying it isn't important, but no amount of maintenance will overcome faulty design

      Right that's not going to be saved. Any flexing wire harness could be problematic. We see it with door hinges and sliding van doors all the time

    Do you just cut wires a few inches after the connector and join all wires together and electrical tape them together? I dont need the wireless charger to work. Thanks

    • @2shops1roof
      @2shops1roof  2 роки тому

      You can just cut wires and individually tape them up. Do not connect any wires to eachother
