The 2014 San Francisco Marathon marks the 4th time I've toed the start and finished the 26.2 mile run around one of my favorite cities. I have tried to make this an annual race that I can run year after year to compare my times, challenge my legs and celebrate an incredibly beautiful city.
Kim and I started our journey up the day before the marathon, as we always do, snagged our bibs from the expo, checked into our AirBnB location, grabbed some grub with our friends Alex Varner (Team Nike) & Rachelle Palkovsky, and prepped for the day ahead. Little did we know what sort of race was ahead for either of us.
A HUGE thank you to The San Francisco Marathon for letting Kim and myself run your amazing race and rolling out the VIP treatment (BTW, we will always do the VIP option now - it's TOTALLY worth it!). We plan on returning in 2015, maybe this time with some PRs in our pockets when we leave.

Love watching your videos and especially race reviews. Don't have many running friends so it's nice to keep in touch with the crowd! Keep doing your thing man, you and Kim both!
Awesome video as always Ethan. I've been out with a stress fracture for almost 6 weeks so I've been running vicariously through your videos and they've helped keep my spirits up. Hopefully will be back to running soon and plan on listening to Grinds my first run back. Can't wait to see the Squamish video
Looks like an amazing (but really tough) marathon, apart from the Marathon Majors Chicago/NYC/Boston, San Francisco is definitely on my bucket list, even more so after having seen so much great footage of the race, thanks!

Great video, good job Kim & Ethan. Tanks for carrying that mini pole and the camera to document everything for us, even though it's probably slowing you down a bit. And by bit I mean "at least 20 minutes". Without the camera, you'd be sooo much faster. Don't deny it. All just for UA-cam.

oh...PS I went to check out some of your merchandise and all I could find were items that referenced beer. I am not a drinker. Do you think you would ever consider making some gear that doesn't have to do with beer? I mean I understand why you do, but think of us who really appreciate your efforts, want to support you but, for whatever reason, don't wear beer related clothing. I know I am not the only Ginger Runner fan that feels this way. Thanks for any consideration that you give my suggestion. Peace.

I just completed my 2nd marathon yesterday and a friend from SF suggested the SF Marathon. I googled it and found your page. Good Stuff man! Will definitely consider this for my 3rd.

***** I cannot believe that I missed you and Kim that day! I was there in wave 5. It was my first full marathon and I had a great time despite hitting the wall at mile 20. I am planning to run it again in 2015 as my 2nd marathon. Any tips for breaking down that wall?

Reb P-Tor there are some pretty big hills - both up AND down (which destroys quads). When comparing road marathons, some have hills, fewer have big hills. This is a tougher race because of that fact.

I'm running my first full Oct 5th. I need a some words to calm myself. I'm freaking out!! My longest run so far in 19 with a lot of hills. I've hit the wall once in my training. (So I know that it feels like) I've devoted my year of running to a young girl that had a stroke. "I Run For Kinslee"(I've done a hand full of video's for her. You can youtube them) . Any word of encouragement would be great from anyone. Thank You and Keep Rocking it out!!!
