Fun fact: The reason for this is that cities have historically heavily favored planting male trees rather than female trees (because female trees have seed pods/fruit), so much so that growers have been breeding *only* male trees. This means there are virtually no female trees balance things out and to catch the pollen, so you get a pollen apocalypse. There was a whole article about it in the Guardian a couple years ago.
That’s fascinating, in a “oh my God, why do we do such dumbass stuff!?!”way. I had no idea about the over planting of male vs. female trees. Why would city gov rather deal with pollen than fruit?

No… it’s because the south is full of pine trees. Most are hundreds of years old
Most plants have male and female reproductive systems... is just gymosperms use air since flowers don't grow on that phylum of trees, they have to release a ton at the same time and hope it lands in the right place. only angiosperms grow fruit and flowers and is pollinated by wind and animals and the flowers have the male and female part then the ovary matures and becomes a fruit. This is to Temp animals into spreading their seed by pooping it out. I'm not sure were you got your fun fact from.

PS - Whenever Penn does the brilliant harmonies and beat boxes with himself, on multiple simultaneous screens, I try after the first viewing to watch and listen to each one separately. SUCH TALENT!!! Any chance y'all might ever also post a "making of" version, showing his individual harmony vids in a sequence, and then a couple at a time, and then slowly adding them in together? I know I'd be even more blown away by Penn's talent (if "more" is even possible!) as a composer, lyricist, singer, beat boxer, instrumentalist ( keyboardist, guitar player and recorder player), video editor, actor, and more. I'm sure I'm not the only fan who thinks about this and would love watching a video like that. Or, have you already posted one?

People are at the point when they see me in a mask of telling me I don't need that anymore. I'm just like, "Oh, I'm not afraid of you or the Koof, I'm just tired of all the pollen and smoke getting in my lungs." The pollen's bad, but the smoke from the wildfires are making things 100 times worse.
RIGHT?! The mask didn't keep me from getting Covid, but it sure did a great job at keeping me from my yearly sinus infections!
This is 100% me. I didn’t buy a single mask for Covid because I already have multiple allergy masks that I’d be wearing anyway in the spring. My allergies are so bad😑
I also like that it keeps my face warm in the winter

Oh my gosh. I’m so glad this is not just me. Even as a Wisconsin resident, my allergies are terrible and usually last throughout all of April and May, with it being really bad at the beginning and one symptom sticking throughout the whole season. Last year, it was watery eyes. This year, I can’t breathe through my nose. And it always seems to be just me. At least I know I’m not going crazy.
Wisconsin spring isn't fully guaranteed until at least May or until we see the construction barrels lol

Me too! Last spring I was sitting on my balcony all alone and was wearing a mask because it was tremendously helpful for surviving the pollen period but I was looking like a crazy lady...😂🤧😷

Went out on my deck for the beautiful sunshine (after a few rainy days). It was glorious, but then got an instant allergy migraine. Took a couple reliable pills, lay down on couch, opened this up -- here you are singing this!
I LOVE your brilliant, creative videos. I love Encanto and I'll be playing this in my head for a long time, and will think of it with every sneeze and attack of itchy eyes. Laughter and music are great medicine!

I used to have a black car that stayed parked outside for about a week at a time without moving when I was younger. One year in the middle of pollen season, I got complimented on my grey car.

When we used to live in NC, it was so bad that my white car looked green. Couldn't open the windows even though the temperature outside was perfect. Then we couldn't open the windows in summer because it was too hot. I spent more time indoors than out there. Now we're in Michigan.

I just took a Benadryl because I can't stop sneezing. I'm in the south and my white car is tinted yellow with pollen. This was spot on!!! Great job guys!!!

East coast allergies this year are absolutely bonkers. My ear drum burst this week from sinus pressure. I am miserable. 💀
My 8 year old burned something in the microwave yesterday, requiring us to open the windows to air the house out. Now every surface in our house is covered in a thin yellow coat of pollen.
So relatable. It was hot last night and I was torn between open with windows for a breeze and pollen. Or, windows closed, roast but be able to breath.
Turns out the reason our allergies are getting worse is that we now plant more male trees (the pollen producers), than female trees (produce fruit and seeds). Parks and schools finds the female trees more work so plant the pollen producers. There is a small movement to plant more female trees instead at schools.
I expected the beatbox collaboration (multi-Penn) to have some surprise doorbuster sneezes interjected. But he is a professional. Excellent job!!!
Your songs have always spoken to me, but this one hits really, really close to home. Looking out the window at the yellow clouds blowing by while sniffling and dealing with a scratchy throat ... UGH! Thank you for the laughs!
Brilliant. It's not just in the south. The Palo Verde trees here in AZ are leaving yellow pollen everywhere. I have to tell people at least twice a day, "I'm not crying, it's allergies" as my eyes water and my nose drips.

I am doing the same stuff. Stuffed nose, Sinuses, coated chest last night with Vicks. I am supposed to be on Bicycle now but after ride a door slams full force to the face. My sister asked me about Covid, too.

Never had allergies until: 1) got older 2) moved to the northern California area between Sac and Lake Tahoe where the oak and pollen dust inundates our decks and furniture. I can relate. Without my Allegra, neti pot, occasional Benedryl and Flonase and inhaler....I'd be miserable!
I live in the mountains of Southern California and every May/June our cars turn yellow from the pollen of the many pine trees we have. It’s no use washing your car until it’s all over with. My husband and I both have allergies so we can both relate to this parody. Awesome job! (And now thanks to the Amazing Race my family all know who I’m talking about when I mention your names).

Guys, guys, just become outdoor runners and you will become immune to this stuff. I have been running outside for over 30 years with no issues. Our bodies like to adapt to these things.
