My dad had a v10 and ran a single 3in from the cats back and it had one of the most distinctive sounds I've ever heard.
This sounds scarily similar to my 4.0 ranger with a magnaflow

@Victoria C Not the Vulcan, that little engine sounds mean. If you find a Taurus with the 3.0 straight pipe it because its funny as hell hearing that sound come out of a family sedan.

You are correct about that, wrong super duty badge on the fender to be a 2010, as well as the fog light placement.

I have a 2000 V10 and it looks like this one, this is like 1999-2005
The stock catalytic converters on this V10 are easily the same size if not larger than the stock mufflers on my 19 mustang .

Apparently new Mustangs have gas particulate filters built in with the catalytic converters similar to DPF systems which would explain why they're so massive.

The V10 sounds way too smooth for pickup. However some of these V10s do sound a bit better than this, not sure why..
I bet if you change them to long tube headers they will have a better tone
Because honestly this shop did a pretty poor job,they didnt do a proper dual exhaust and the stock Cats are in there which is killing a bunch of power and making it quieter

@@levimoss3148 They’re both modular engines. Same family. It’s like GM's LS family and Chrysler's Magnum V8s which sounded mean back in the early 2000s.

Not anymore he moved recently. He went say exactly why, but I think it has to do with the fact that people actually knew where his house was and he was starting to get stalked and harassed, combine that with the fact that Nashville is growing so fast that Cheatham County is starting to fill up with people too, i think it just wasn't the same place that he knew and loved.

You would know if a v10 has a missfire. Trust me. As soon has it got under load it would have started bucking in the road at the end. Sounds like mine used to. Now I have banks headers, 3in resonator and the biggest 3in magnaflow. Sounds great and quiet now. It was too choppy straight piped for me and my towing needs
@@ryantcarlton83 3:09 you clearly hear the miss, the exhaust shouldn't be poping on WOT load... It obviously seems down on power since these engines rev faster than the one in the video hence why it sounds so bad compared to other videos.

If it wasn't for the clap it would sound perfect to me. v10's seem to have a natural mellow sound to them. I'm not sure about that drone when he lets out of it though.

Good point. Every time I get heavy on the pedal in my 2001 F250 V10 I watch my fuel gage drop. They are quite the quick truck though.

Just so you are aware, they actually made many of these even up until 2021. A lot of people aren't aware of this because they think they didn't offer them since they stopped putting them in the 3/4 ton and 1 ton pickups after 2010.
There was a "rumor" that they still put them in some commercial type vehicles even after 2021 but I can't confirm this. They just weren't available in the standard F-250 and F-350 Super Duty pickups after 2010. They were available in chassis cab versions of the F-450 and F-550 as well as the F-650 & 750 and many RVs or Motorhomes and also many busses. I actually drove a U-haul with one last year that wasn't that old. I don't know which specific year the U-haul was but it had the 6-speed automatic transmission (The 6R140) that was never offered in the F-250 & 350 pickups that only offered the 5-speed (5R110) for the 2003 and later versions.
In "some" versions of the newer 6.8 3-valve, they were tuned to have lower power for busses but many of the F-450, 550, 650, and 750 models had the higher power like the pickups did. So, if you can find one of these newer chassis cab or F-450 and higher models from 2011 or 2012 and newer, that would be the way to go to get the 6-speed automatic transmission. I know when I drove the U-haul, it had plenty of power with a fully loaded 26 foot box truck hauling their largest car hauler with a 4500 pound 2002 Chevy Trailblazer 4x4 on the trailer. I went from Pierre, South Dakota all the way to Baltimore, Maryland which was about 1475 miles. There were quite a few hills during part of the trip and the engine handled the load just fine and didn't seem to lack power in my opinion and I own a 2002 F-250 extended cab 4x4 long bed with the 6.8 2-valve with 4-speed automatic as well as two 2005 F-250 & F-350 pickups with the 6.0 diesel. I liked that the 6-speed automatic transmission actually helped slow the vehicle down on its own if you used the tow/haul mode so you didn't have to ride the brakes as much going down hills.
If you want something that would be very reliable and have great power, the newer ones in the F-450 and higher models with the 6-speed would be the way to go. Here is some more info for you.

I have had multiple Ford 6.2s and they sound like shit also. When it comes to 5.4 Tritons, 6.8 Tritons, and 6.2 Bosses, don't expect to get good exhaust sound out of them. All of these engines run super quiet.

It’s a shame you work on vehicles and don’t even know what year they are. This body style ended in 2007… There is no way it’s a 2010, not even close.
Nice truck, looks funny with the little tires, never cared for the sound of Ford’s V10. Too each is there own. Glad he enjoys his truck though, all that matters 😎. Keep up the good work and videos guys!!

The firing order makes it sound like crap (much like the Viper’s). A proper V10 is the most glorious sounding engine of all. Just listen to a straight piped Hurrican or any of the F1 car from the V10 era.

Best sounding exhaust for the V10 is a MBRP 4 inch cat back like you would use on a diesel. Otherwise they sound terrible in my opinion. That is what I put on my Excursion.

Definitely not a 2010. It's a 2007 at the newest. Could be a 99-04 with a 05-07 front end swap but still not a 2010. Sounds good though!
Nope, got the 05-07 coil spring front suspension so definitely not older than 05 and not newer than 07.

I'm from out of state, just a ballpark idea of cost- I have an 03' 5.4 2Valve F-150 that I need new manifolds and full exhaust replacement. Looking to replace with shorty headers, new cats, and a catback single in dual out with a flowmaster 50 series- what would that run typically?

This truck has a V6 sound/tone. I KNOW the 6.8L V10 has an aggressive but smoother V8 Growl with a bitey Howling Hum exhaust note in higher rpms. Plus, this dude should check his plugs/injectors.
He was waiting for the "wait to start light to go out" lol because even if it's gas, you still have to wait.
I'd love to hear one with true duals though!

Definitely a V10 once it takes off... But DAMN does this poor truck need some equal-length headers into an equal-length Y-pipe. 2.5 collectors into a 3.5 pipe as close to the engine as possible, then run in back to the axle before splitting it back to dual 2.5s for the tips. Or do the same with dual 3s into a single 4. Main part is the headers. Equal-length headers with either an X or a Y pipe will make this thing sing like a low RPM Lexus LFA.

I recall that a mechanical business in the western states of the US was fined tens of thousands of dollars sometime back for polluting the Air in the State in which it operates. It was possibly their own video that caused the charges and conviction to be brought against them.
