  • How to Turn Your Shyness into Confidence
Today's podcast is part two of How to Turn Your Shyness into Confidence. In last week's show, I used the story of King Saul's inauguration as king to provide a foundation for what I will discuss today. Last week's podcast, part one of How to Turn Your Shyness into Confidence, looked at five preliminary steps for overcoming shyness. . In this week's podcast, I will detail more specific strategies for overcoming shyness. The steps in this episode are specific and detailed and take time and effort, but it is what is needed to overcome shyness. If you are looking for a quick fix, this podcast is not it. However, if you are tired of how shyness is affecting your life and desire to change, then this show will be of great help. However, it will require your commitment to listen to the full podcast and your dedication to practice the strategies. The truth about quick fixes for shyness is that none of them works.
In part two of the series, How to Turn Your Shyness into Confidence, I will present proven CBT and mindfulness strategies that have helped many of my clients overcome their shyness.

It's great that the podcast is taking a thorough approach to addressing shyness by combining insights from King Saul's story with practical strategies like CBT and mindfulness. True transformation often requires dedication and time, so it's refreshing to see a focus on long-term solutions rather than quick fixes. The emphasis on commitment and practice shows a realistic understanding of the process involved in overcoming shyness.

it's important to provide comprehensive approaches to addressing shyness, it's essential to recognize that not all strategies will resonate with everyone. Some individuals may find mindfulness and CBT helpful, while others may benefit from different techniques or therapeutic modalities. Additionally, comparing personal transformation to biblical stories may not be relatable or applicable to everyone's experiences with shyness.

Recently, I gave a presentation at work, and although I was nervous, I pushed through and received positive feedback. It's a constant journey, but each small step forward boosts my confidence.

Your experience with shyness reminds me of Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." With God's help, you can overcome limitations, even shyness, and find the confidence to face challenges. Remember, God equips the hesitant with courage; just like Moses, who doubted his abilities, God empowered him to lead (Exodus 3:11-12). Trust in His strength, and you'll find the ability to overcome any obstacle, even self-consciousness.

One must develop self-confidence because it allows one to be persistent in the achievement of set goals, overcome difficult situations, and develop effective relationships. Shyness can be managed by being first aware of what provokes it, gradually exposing oneself into situations that provoke shyness, learning to be assertive and positive in thoughts, and seeking help from friends or professionals where necessary.

Hi Paula. Thank you for your comment. I do believe that Jesus is the answer and the ultimate healer. I have witnessed miraculous healing through prayer. However, even Jesus himself recommended physicians, "Jesus answered, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick" (Lk. 5:31). Jesus is not against his followers turning to human agents for help. One of the most sad things that I have to deal with in my line of work as a psychotherapist, is to counsel bereaved families whose loved one could be alive today if they had not refused doctors' help saying Jesus is going to heal them. The belief that Christians don't need help from heath professionals is dangerous and turns off many from the faith.
