Amazing review and audio test Mark. Very detailed and to the point! The front facing microphone had much better and improved audio quality when compared to the rear microphone. The front facing microphone sounded more crisp and clear.

one thing I (and i believe a few people in the comment) can you confirm the F/R channel does get separated into Left/Right in camera? the walking in circle test does sounds like mono to many of us. (on top of that some other test from other youtuber did mention it sounds more like a merged single channel rather than 2 different L/R in F+R mode)

Hi Mark. This is a great audio test review of the BY-MM1 Pro. Have a question though: When you try to edit the audio in post particularly the portion wherein you're using both front and rear mics, did the mic capture the audio in such a way that the front mic is placed on the left channel and the rear on the right? And that you should convert both to mono so that the recorded sound would be distributed to both left and right channels of your audio speakers/earphones?
Hi, unfortunately the BY-MM1 Pro doesn’t record the audio on separate channels. I talk about this in my review of the BY-MM1 pro.

Is it true that both front and rear microphones record into the same channel, rather than separate left/right channels? If so that is a bit disappointing as you then cannot adjust levels of both inputs individually. Great detailed reviews on these mics, thanks.

@@vvv.30 what is your phone and did you used the stock camera on your smartphone? As fas as I know when you shoot a video using the "Stock Camera App" of ur phone it will still use the built in microphone on ur phone eventhough u plugged in an external mic like Boya. U can download open camera or gcam wherein u can set an external mic as your mic when taking a video. On some other phones like "Realme" you have an option to do it, but most of the phones doesn't have that option so that u have to download other camera apps.
@@vvv.30 and make sure also that u are using TRS to TRRS adaptor if u are to use the mic on a smartphone. ✌️

Hey, Alfred! Not at all! It's using the same mount as the MM1+ which is already far better than the MM1's. It's in par with the Rode Videomicro's!

What phone do you use? Lots of smartphones now have powerful cameras. But if you want a cheap budget camera, I suggest buying the first edition, EOS M with the 18-55mm kit lens. That one is so cheap but you can do wonders with it!
