I had implant failure of my #8 after 5 years. No signs that anything was wrong with it until it was already too late. I woke up one day and noticed some puss and a bit of inflammation + throbbing. Got back in with my oral surgeon right away and he had to remove the entire thing. There had been a ton of bone loss and he was surprised the implant didn't feel wobbo. This was one year ago. He did another bone graft, I waited months for that to healand just had the implant surgery again about 2.5 weeks ago. Though all of the swelling on the outside of my face went away after 5 days and I'm not in any pain, the area still feels strange. I can feel that something is in there and it feels weird when I touch it. There is also what feels like a lump under my lip, up towards the top of my gums in the area of the implant. I wonder if this is a normal part of the healing/integration process or if there is something wrong with this one already. Maybe it's infected? It also throbs on and off and it has been more than 2 weeks! I'm so worried that this one too is failing or is infected (I took the full course of antibiotics after the surgery, not that that's a guarantee to prevent infection) I already had my one week check up and my oral surgeon seemed slightly concerned with the stiffness and throbbing I was still experiencing. I had two implants four years ago. No problems with the one. The other... tooth #10 has hurt since. It's hurting now. It has been infected several times. Doc did a second bone graft and tissue graft. They have suggested that I have the implant removed, let it heal and try again. I told them that once it comes out, it's not going back in. They tell me that the implant looks good. They can see nothing wrong. It's a big old mystery, I guess. Between implants, braces, many different kinds of x-rays and constant cleanings since the implants, I have spent over $20,000 and I'm still in pain. Sigh .......

@@karenstevens1535 Of course there are exceptions as in every medical situation, however the vast majority of people who have bad teeth simply do not take care of them. Bad diet and bad oral hygiene is the cause of the vast majority of problems. People do not think about their teeth until it is too late. That's just a fact and there is no other way to sugar coat it, no pun intended. It's just like the people who are obese claim they have big bones or it's in the genes, the truth is most of them just eat too much. If they stopped eating so much and started some exercising they wouldn't be fat. If those who lose teeth stopping drinking sodas, stopped smoking, stopped eating crap, took care of their teeth and visited a dentist once in a while their live would be different. Even with risk factors if you take proper care 99.9% of people can keep their teeth until death. You yourself mentioned failed implant surgery. If you had to have an implant you haven't taken care of your teeth. With regular dental visits you don't need to lose teeth. I have 6 kids, the oldest is 30, the youngest 23. ( A couple of sets of twins) We made sure they brushed properly and from the day they had their first permanent tooth, it was 6 monthly visits to the dentist. Not a cavity, a filling or an implant amongst them. The only teeth removed for a couple of them were wisdom teeth. People tell themselves it wasn't their fault but it usually is.

I am still very young, and its a nightmare when your doctor say you have no options but to go procedures that u know for sure WILL spoil all your teeth through time.
Someone should have warned you. As he is saying your natural teeth have layers. That the infection has to spread too. Before extraction needed. Implant removing it is the only option. My mom had hers removed for this reason. She had it done again now it is fine. She uses water pick and brushes twice A day. Sees dentist every six months. The implants need to be X-Ray. To check if there are any problems. Unless you have really good dental insurance. Or a lot of money dentures that or partials are more affordable. Easier to maintain. However there is cons to them too. You have bone loss and gum shrinkage. You just need all the information to make informed decision. In my opinion you were not given the information. To make an informed decision. I am really sorry. 💔😢

@@brianmsahin what about accidents? You can't blame people for losing out their teeth due to circumstances that they can't control. I have one tooth missing due to an accident, and now i am wearing an implant, i have maintain healthy habits of cleaning my teeth everyday, however after 12 years, it got inflamed for unknown reasons. Here i am trying to save my implant and other natural teeth losing out from procedures (that the naive me dont understand bec im not a medical student) that may spoil my natural teeth overtime. I am still very young, and its a nightmare when your doctor say you have no options but to go procedures that u know for sure WILL spoil all your teeth through time.

Until this happened to me. Noone ever told me this was a possibility
@angelaschaefer5883 .. thank you. I do see dentist every 6 months. This has been an unbelievable ordeal. I went with a bridge on the other side of mouth. Won't have an implant on lower because of nerve. Live and learn
Again I am sorry they need to give people the truth.
20 days ago I had 2 implants inserted and 2mm bone..now I notice last 4days I had a bad smell and I can see a red bulp coming out of my gum ,just one side and I can feel more like pressure feeling I am seeing my specialist in 2days.hopefully he doesn't need to remove the implant and only clear the puss??I don't see my implants

@@myilham81 I had a large infection both implants were removed and we had to wait to heal the gums.3D X ray showed it could be done again but to build more bone.
Other option was the bridges
I chosen the bridges then I had to have 2 root canals done then the zircon bridges were put on ..They fit perfect and are as the real teeth. For cleaning I use water pick,dental.floss...etx
@@silviaodlerart hi Silvia did the bone graph worked?
Soft tissue graft around dental impalny
expense is killing me at 70
They really need to do better job of being honest with patients. About the risk of infection years after the surgery. These are very expensive and if there are any complications. A lot more expensive. I just hope you get well soon.
My dad needs a dental implant and doesn't want to admit it
My God thisbis a disaster.
You are too far away from me.
