    I love hearing about all the roles and work that go into productions. I'm such a huge movie nerd, I get excited over everything involved. Working on a big Hollywood production is my life goal. Just to do something, anything. Going to Universal Studios is one of my favoritest things, seeing the backlot, the sound stages, and I even freak out a little when filming is going on and you can see the set and crew as the studio tour tram drives through.

    Yes he should do a youtube channel about behind the scences on set and introduce us to some people in these " roles" on set. Very interesting vid always wondered what all the people on the credits of s film did. wish id known this 25 years ago when i keft school x

    Oh please make a UA-cam channel Mark! I myself and so many others would love to see your UA-cam channel on film making, behind the scenes, and just about the day in the life of a director, or film maker! Thanks. Matti for the awesome long UA-cam video! So much great information. I also was really glad and happy to hear that if you try one role it doesn’t mean you are going to be stuck in that role forever. Thanks man.

    Yeah, totally Mark! You got tons of knowledge that would definitely benefit a lot of future film-makers/UA-camrs out there. You never know what you might create out of a new youtube channel Mark!... Oh, and do you think I can borrow that one-wheel too Matti?...

  • @flickcine
    @flickcine 6 років тому +1

    This is soooo good! Talking about doing multiple roles. When cheap jobs try to get you to do multiple things to 'cut down on costs', one of those roles will suffer. Do what is right for the project. Sometimes you can spread yourself too thin that way and it's not worth it.
    Thanks for uploading some wicked content, Matti. It's also nice to see someone else from a pro film background doing UA-cam. 👍👍

    • @flickcine
      @flickcine 6 років тому

      Although, I know its a really mundane thing but let's try say 'She/Her and They/Them' too instead of just 'He/Him" for roles? I know it's not much but it certainly helps people who might not be male in feeling welcome in the industry. Looking forward to new videos! 😀

    Thanks Matti, trying to get myself on a set some place. I did work experience in a camera rental company and they want me back. Might be a good start! For sure, do behind the scenes videos about film crews and how do you get to that position. I assume that people have to rise up the totem pole? Lovin your videos Matti, I get so much knowledge from you and the DOPE SQUAD. Huge thank you! I'm thinking to start my own channel but sometimes I think I'm just a nobody so nobody would care but well, I'm trying to get past that and just do it!

    Spoiler alert, loved this video, Matti and BigOldThumbsUp to your friend for making his channel and sharing his stuff! Why I love youtube, is I always can find something attracting my personal interest. It may be simply entertaining or having packs of useful information, I can actually learn and apply. Any video can be watched and scrolled, if its kinda boring, like loosing its path. I remember You mentioned in one vid, you're going to make a video about roles in filming, which kinda hooked me, but I didn't know, if/when it might come out, and every next vid I watched, I was kinda hoping and expecting to be that video about the roles. And now it's here, and it came out so nicely explained, really interesting and quite often hilarious! Thank you Matti for your time for sharing thoughts and experience.. oh uh..one more thing - it was that kind of video, I so much enjoyed, I had to start over, to see it more! Awesome! Thank you!

    I work as an electric, working closely with the gaffer and the best boy.
    I've always wanted to be a DOP but to do that you have to take the camera route (camera Assistant, 1st AC, etc.) then eventually becoming a DOP.
    But I chose to learn lighting as that's more important, to know lighting.
    Now I work in IATSE 873 as an electric. Will I ever get up to working as a Gaffer and then DOP?
    NOPE... Not my thing anymore.
    I would much rather do freelance work and be a DOP that way, rather than in the union on big hollywood budgeted films and TV shows
    Or Commercials! I would love to shoot on commercials as well.
    Im from the GTA - If you are looking for help with lighting/camera -- Im your guy!
    Big budget or small budget - Heck, it doesnt even need to be a real shoot. Lets make a fake commercial just to get noticed :P

      Sup fellow Union member, I'm in IATSE 492! I'm sorta in the same position but in the Grip department. Maybe one day i'll make it as a DOP on big sets but for now I enjoy being a grip and it pays the bill!

I'm coming from an illustration background and I really wanna get into set fabrication/ design or the props department things like that but I have yet to be able to find anything that is like that. Like I know the names of the positions but I can't seem to find where to find the job listings.
