The way you analyze the games that you preview for us, and the honest sort of perspective you give (as an experienced game reviewer) has led me to buy many games you have reviewed. It has ALSO led me to watch your videos every single day, even when the game is something that I wouldn't traditionally be drawn to play. I love your content and I hope your channel grows Splat.

Your comment stating the game had a UI that was "Critical Path" like really took me back... I really liked playing that game. Funny thing is that if you installed Critical Path and Quantum Gate at the same time they would break each other because they would clobber each other's changes in the win.ini file. I reported that bug to both game developers and they send me a ton of swag. I was around 8 years old at the time so it was really cool. This was also the point where I started learning the depths of Windows and deep diving into computers in general. It's served me very well in my life.
Thanks for nostalgia... that comment put a smile on my face :)
first deadnaut was actually scary in a very weird way. Glad to see they're still making games.
This has a very duskers feel - love it!
I honestly love this studio’s style! It’s a testament that as much as I am not a fan of zombie survival, I still really love the Zafehouse Diaries games on a presentation & gameplay level. This doesn’t quite look my speed but I’m glad Screwfly is still making projects
I had assumed that they went out of business.
This is the strangest Pac-Man mod I've ever seen.
By how I think the trust system works is that it is the trust between you at the console and the soldier in the derelict. If the trust is low enough the soldier in the ship would either refuse your orders or rebel against you while high trust could give you more abilities.
I like the concept of the game, kind of wish (once you scanned an enemy) the enemies would show like a little lore description.. i.e. a hive bug describes a fast, chittering, creature... a bandit describes a ragged, frail, mutated man with a makeshift... axe weapon? something like that... little details and small surprises always peak my interest to keep pushing through games :D
Rather fascinating. A fuzzy view of the Deadnaut explorer, like a camera view, would make the game much more attractive though, similar to another game you showcased "recently" (in the other game, a fuzzy camera was following a poor soul sent into a dangerous base).
Fuzzy? Why not go for shoulder cams like you get in Space Hulk? It would be nice to actually see alien bugs exploding.
@@DGneoseeker1 I mean their game would have to be redone completely for that to happen, hence why I only suggest their view look more like a distant camera.
Vigor: This is vigor.
thanks game

Splatter creates a marine who looks like Mr. Anderson -- names him Smith.
Yeah! New game from Scewfly! Loved every one they released so far. Great to hear new one is coming out soon. Thx for the sneak peek Splat!
This game reminds me really heavily of Dusker, but with less coding and a more analog UI. It looks like a lot of fun.
Exactly what I thought of. I really like the lo-fi aesthetic with both this and Duskers. Maybe I'll give this one a shot too.
In the second mission when you were outside your blood O2 saturation was down to 50%, so you were stupid (you unlocked doors more slowly) and eventually took damage.
6:00 comparing it to Jupiter Hell is an instant wishlist for me!
I don't know how a simple looking game can be so intense but Good Job, Devs! I was on the edge of my seat with this one.
This reminded me of Duskers from the presentation and tense exploration.
Dusker was amazing, it only missed some kind of real ending to the campaign after you unravelled most of the logs.
It looks like it could use a 'walk-until-you-see-enemies' feature, unless the whole point is that you get impatient and click along the map, and accidentally walk into enemies.
this is one of the games where imagination is king!
"Brown coats never give up, never." =)
This looks like a great thriller type game. You can clearly see how you're feeling immersed lol. G8 job.
I appreciate games being available outside steam and such, I much prefer to have the game for real
Nice, I'm one of the people that put 20 hours into the original deadnaut. Interesting they switch to turn based with only one character. I liked managing the whole squad, although they did not make it easy for keeping your units in formation. The guy with he shield projector was always stepping in the front lines.
vigor: this is vigor, it vigors you.
A NEW DEADNAUGHT!?!
This was like the first game I saw you review!
Oh my goodness!
WOOO!
Same! I saw it on steam and instantly went on here
I enjoyed Fear Equation. I'm glad to see Screwfly Studios is still working on stuff.
Nice, didn't even have to look for that Splatt quote of the day.
Auh good old Splatt ❤ always happy when he uploads.
I loved the previous game, but I found it very challenging to know what I was even doing. There were several updates after I last left it, I should probably fire it up again.
Would be so much better without the infinite respawn imo.
This reminds me of Fallout, Aliens and a board game called Omega Virus.
Adding some FP would be interesting.
man, I miss Space Hulk. I could never finish that game.
Love your stuff Splat!
reminds me a lot of duskers which is not a bad thing
I don't like respawning enemies. I would only understand bugs respawning as coming from walls and vents shafts and having a hidden queen and hive somewhere on the ship where it is very hard to get to - like blocked off room accessible only by a vent or something.
I think things like zombies etc. should not respawn.
This game doesn't feel very intense. It makes me miss Duskers, whose level of abstraction makes you REALLY paranoid.
Thanks for showcasing! ^^
Respawning enemies... nah, I'll pass...
Firefly references for the win
After watching this I went back and watched your 8 year old video of the first one (you've been doing this that long??) and I gotta say I think the older one looks better. It has more of an Aliens vibe and just seems to have more going on with things like hacking firewalls and rerouting power.
Plus apparently I own it! Guess I got it in a humble bundle at some point and never played it :)
Oh MAN I remember playing the original Deadnaut and you're telling me this is just that, but more gooder
Sold
Blast from the past holyshit deadnaut
reminds me a bit of Duskers but less cool and less atmospheric/creepy and without the cool first person drone cams and cool programming
more games should have immersive ui's it adds so much to the experience

3 extra points this video for the Firefly ref.
This looks brilliant.
Damn I love rouge likes! This UI looks amazing and very interesting..
It’s a modern 1993 40k Spacehulk
IDK, perhaps that's me, but it seems to much like blue dot kills red dots to get to the white dots. The analogic interface is awesome though. Seeing a kind of low res / distorted picture of the bugs and hostiles could have been nice.
Same here... I'm hoping Quasimorphasis will scratch this itch when it comes out.
What happened to the Beyond Sunset video? I was just about to watch it and it was gone...
I think the laborer suit is pretty awesome, actually. Something gets up next to your deadnaut? No need to be scared, because AXE TO THE FACE! CHOPPA CHOPPA!
I would love a let's play!
No squads like the previous game? Shame, but I like that they're going for new things
Whenever someone says “wassup guys and gals” it’s either splattercat or muda
2:50 for leaving title screen, 5:15 for gameplay start.
wow this look like something worthy of MS-DOS era...
Game looks banging
The UI is cool, but seems very contrived and dumb when the marine is an actual person who should be able make decisions on their own if, say something happens to the connection to the operator. But they wanted the UI, so they needed an operator, but didn't seem to consider how that would actually work.
Strangely, they could have easily made it make complete sense by having the deadnaut be a droid of some kind. It would also explain why he can't even move without you telling him to.
Alternatively, they could have leaned into the living marine by giving him mental breaks where he doesn't always do what he tells you, or you're forced to wait to see if he was able to survive a fight on his own that you lost connection during, or make it more like Rimworld where you give them general orders, and they follow them if they can. But yeah, just saying they were a robot would make it all make sense without changing anything.
I’m curious, has there ever been a game that gives you a fidly character creation that you could spend hours on tweeking only not actually have it do anything in game? Like one that you can spend points on accuracy and strength but then not actually perceive any tangible gain? I kinda think that would be funny, even though I am a fiddler
Neat!
Sentinel Worlds vibes.
all their games look like menu screens
Reminds me of dungeon of the endless
I wonder if there are any long term benefits to scanning enemies.
Just wish it wasnt a marble shooting other marbles haha even if it was just pixels it would be a must buy for me if it just had more detailed character models and environments. Not asking for dead space levels but atleast vampire survivors
Ha, just yesterday I was trying to remember the name of the studio
I don't quite like the changed style in this game. Neither the gameplay nor the UI. The previous game was fully analog but this got those generic green hi-tech hud elements. Furthermore, the active gameplay screen looks like a fake set piece. It doesn't feel anymore immersive and so that you're actually sitting in front of this computer/switchboard and commanding the troopers.
cool game
Love you splat but I really hope I never have you as my Deadnaught commander
vigor tool tip: this is vigor
thanks game
This looks like it'll scratch the itch Duskers left almost scratched. Highfleet was similarly fantastic and disappointing. Mech Engineer is still too esoteric to really get into without a good build upfront.
Why did you ignore the airlock that was right next to the objective in favor of going all the way down to the other one?
I'll be honest friend...you are responsible for me spending a lot of money...lol..ty
4:26 obvious and multiple typos in the primary interface are always a bad sign
does anyone remember Space Crusade? There was a follow up game, which was 3D, but I can't remember the name of it...
maybe not direct follow up, but same idea and space marines and in 3D
Game looks fun. But itd be nice if they added little character models instead of dots.
Okay but if a hull is at 100% integrity and you saw through a door, even shoot through one, that does not necassarily damage the integrity of the hull itself. If it did, your deadnaut would be sucked out of the ship upon blast through the door for any integrity loss would result in pressure change within the derelict. No pass on this one. Either take this mechanic out or adjust it to reflect the in game realism. Integrity ciuld be something to watch out for in case that xenos race comes by and decides to start drilling into the ship after you or start destroying the ship with your deadnaut inside and now they have to get out before integrity reaches zero. Blasting or sawing through a door meh, immersion lost.
🖤
i miss zafehouse
I thought Epic took a reasonable percentage. I know Steam is stupidly high.
VIGOR
this is vigor
WTF lmao
Visuals did not meet my hype at the intro.. -_-
Hmm, I think what this game could really use is like a little killcam that shows you the death animations of the enemies you are fighting every once in a while. Put a face to the horror you know.
The idea is that these are indescribable horrors
@@joedkat Its a bug monster and an evil clown. Thats not exactly fighting Cluthlu is it? It seems like a nice game but this is a cost-saving measure on the devs part and nothing more. Besides if I want to just imagine everything I will just play D&D.
@@eriviscale2 It is not just a cost-saving measure, you should look at their other releases. This is very much in their style.
@@joedkat One does not necessarily preclude the other. Smaller indie studios can't afford fancy stuff like animated enemies and kill cams so go with a minimalist look. Over time they develop their own styles.
Nothing wrong with that and if you enjoy it then more power to you. But I am simply making a suggestion that will hopefully help them reach out to a larger audience.
@@eriviscale2 Fair enough!
this looks like a nintendo game
Yeah ... no why are we fighting spheres?
I can't help but wish it wasn't all blue and red balls...
:)
The blue/red blobs are a bit disappointing. I'd love to see actual models instead of just a light blob...
that's a bit too minimalistic for me.. it's a cool idea, but shooting dots is a bit of deal breaker, the small camera should've been showing an enemy graphics
Cool idea but the idea of playing a game that is basically playing a game seems sorta...meh?
Seems pretty boring. Reminds me of an old Atari game.
I always dislike the hyper nonsensical no explanation games. They go to such lengths the obscure shit in ways like wtf just give a short blurb saying the stat is something vaguely useful or DONT HAVE THE TOOLTIP! like splatty said needs qol tweaks. Which honestly there are too many trying to be the dark souls of (insert genre/type/etc). Just making it very opaque to most players will turn off most of them. Dark souls was jank and still is, but at least tried in their own way to explain things.
THey just are inconsistent and bad at translating it well. Now though there are ds clones a dime a couple dozen. Even having other games made by the studio isn't a clear indicator that it might take off. It's just frustrating that they clearly purposefully made thing obtuse and opaque for stupid reasons.
The core of the game looks solid...but moving a blue dot to kill purple dots in 2023 is a turn off for me.
Meh...
Fook ya first comment
4th one actually, and that's what you get for being childish.
You've got to be kidding me. 8 minutes in and still no gameplay. Wonder why people still rely on you to show of their games. Why can't you talk over gameplay or be more efficient?
Why is your guy alone? No way you would send one guy alone on ops like this.
