I tried putting my peonies in the cooler at marshmallow stage this year to extend the spring season, but I kept getting orders. I'm in Iowa as well, struggling with not having much left until my summer flowers start blooming. Such a drag, but I'm right here with you waiting!!! I feel bad turning down orders, but it is literally out of my hands!
We're in the same zone, but your plants seem to be ahead of mine by a week or two. My Fama is starting to bloom now, and I think it could possibly serve as a focal, but its production has never been great for me (I only have a dozen plants), not sure what it wants that I'm not providing. I've toyed with the idea of lilies in crates, but we have the scarlet lily beetle and I'm not sure lilies match the garden style look I'm going for in my bouquets. I'm dry storing some of my peonies to help bridge the gap; is that a thing you can do? Maybe you did and you're just done already; our peonies are about 2 weeks early this year. My early sunflowers still have a way to go. Personally, I think your bouquets, even without a focal, are still lovely! I see you have Sweet William in there; with more space between plants I think maybe those could produce focal sized flowers for you! Check out Danielle's channel at Northlawn Flower Farm; she grows some whoppers!
Thank you! I sold all my peonies but hopefully some newer ones will be producing next year so I have more! Great idea on the sweet William - I did have some bigger flower heads earlier. And I can plant some starts in the spring so I have more later (now) as well, as most is on its way out from fall planting.
No, I haven’t but the hardy Alasca amaryllis in this video was sort of a trial for that…. Those and lilles aren’t really my cut flower vibe but I struggle this time of year.

I’ve had to refer people to florists that will bring flowers in. It’s a tough few weeks.
Great video and garden color!
The focal scoop scabiosa are pretty sizable, a better focal than fama in my opinion. But really sunflowers and lilies have been saving me this year
Thank you for this! I’m gonna have to get some lilies.

Have you ever done the Amaryllis as a cut flower? It's a little time consuming, putting a stick up the stem and all.

Tell us about your early sunflowers! Id like to try that next year
I direct planted from seed in the field before last frost. And I have a few in the hoophouse!
I got the focal scoop scabiosa to try this season - they are just starting to bud up now.
Excited to hear how you like them!
If I start (some) of my dahlias and zinnias early inside, they are blooming before and after peonies.
Oh wow!!
