      Watching now, you are tanky af but you are lacking damage bad. Try auras. Combo Wrath/Anger/Hatred aura with their Herald of Lightning/Fire/Ice reservation skills to give your abilities some boosted elemental damage with some extra effects. Aura and reservation management is a big part of build design in this game. You seem to understand the defenses well and now you need to learn how to scale damage. There are tons of options but with shield crush you need to pick some good ones since you are scaling based on shield defense instead of weapon dps.
      Hatred will give you a large percentage of your physical damage as cold damage and herald of ice will give your attacks some flat cold damage as well as making enemies you kill while frozen explode dealing aoe cold damage.
      Wrath will give you large flat lightning damage and herald of lightining will give you a smaller flat lightning damage in addition to causing lightning storms that hit nearby enemies when you kill shocked enemies.
      Anger will give you flat fire damage and herald of fire will give you flat fire damage, ignite chance and an AOE ingite based on your overkill damage.
      Alternatively, if you want to stay on phsyical damage, you can try Pride aura with Herald of purity, this will give you bonus physical damage and will summon minions that will distract and attack enemies with you.
      You also should consider tempest shield, a reservation skill that boosts your shield dps and gives you lightning retaliation on block. If you have mana reservation efficiency on your skill tree you can have wrath, herald of lightning and tempest shield at the same time.
      If you are concerned about mana regen you can try to link the clarity aura (mana regen) to an arrogance support gem to make it reserve your life instead.

      I always find it odd when people talk about going in blind is a new concept. I am genuinely curious, when you play games with character progression, have you always just looked up the game first and find a build and just follow that guide? I'm not like trying to say anything bad about that, I'm just really curious about that mind set.

    • @sineupp
      @sineupp Рік тому +2

      It's mostly a thing in the PoE community I believe. many people overhype the difficulty of the game and insist that new players should look up and follow a build guide. This is 10x as bad when a streamer tries the game, since there will be a bunch of people in their chat trying to convince them to do that.
      The average andy wouldn't usually suffer from this issue, since they're more likely to treat it like any other game.

    It took me a few years to realize that this is exactly what I needed to do to start enjoying video games again. I have always loved playing video games since I was 5 and lately at age 26 I found myself not enjoying playing too many games anymore (used to play like 4 games concurrently and a few years ago could play a single game every once and a while with long breaks). I realized I had become obsessed with minmaxing EVERYTHING in games like POE all the way down to Stardew Valley. I always found myself concerned with having the best thing possible at any given moment in every game. I had totally lost sight of the organic gaming experience that I had known as a kid, when I didn't have access to the vast amounts of information online like we do now. I no longer watch guides or builds ahead of time now, I'll google a question if I get stuck or look at some forum posts if I'm interested in a topic about the game; the same way I would search the internet when I was little. It has totally revitalized gaming for me as an adult. Having to think for myself and overcome obstacles with the tools that only I have gotten with my (mostly) my knowledge while playing, has brought back a huge breath of fresh air so every game and I don't find myself getting burned out anywhere near as much.
    I'm not saying this a solution for everyone but if you are someone who kind empathize a bit with my experience, I would highly encourage you try what DM is doing here and play the game like game, it's that game you got when you were little and you didn't spend your first 60 hours looking up every build to just play the same cookie cutter playthrough that half the player base will be identical to.

    Tower Defence mode is Blight League, you can find Blight encounters and Blight Maps after the story mode is done. GGG gatekeeps a lot of League content in Maps because they're afraid new players might get overwhelmed too much. And you still get introduced to like 9 different League side content mechanics during story mode + the new League one you encounter more often.

    • @shoddy
      @shoddy Рік тому +1

      @NaNoRarhthe new league mechanic will be everywhere. It's the old league mechanics, that were kept in the game that you're slowly getting introduced to.

    • @Meitti
      @Meitti Рік тому +1

      @NaNoRarh No the new content can be found very quick, usually they appear almost every area. Example right now you start getting Silver Coin drops after first 5 areas in Act 1. Older League content that was put in the game permanently is more evenly split around the game. The first big old League you encounter is Bestiary by talking to Einhar in Act 2.

    • @lootmaster1337

      @NaNoRarhhepy, party rush it in 3-4 hours and then its maps time

    • @readifdumb
      @readifdumb Рік тому +1

      @NaNoRarh If you're playing the league then you have to restart with no items and a level 1 character. However it doesn't take too long for experienced players to reach end game. Once the league ends all your items get transferred over to standard, allowing you to share your items earned with other characters you made - your character will also be moved over to standard.
      The stash tabs with all your league earned items will be called "remove-only" stash tabs, meaning you cannot add to them, but you can remove them. The remove-only tabs don't replace your current tabs, technically doubling all your tabs until you remove everything from them and place them in your normal, upon log out and log in they should disappear if you have nothing in them.
      It depends on the league whether you can interact with it early or later, as some leagues get littered throughout the game, like the previous one Crucible. You'll be able to interact with some leagues as you go through the campaign, but only until you start doing maps will you be able to explore them more thoroughly.

  • @CCSplinters

    Every act, poe introduces you to certain endgame content you encounter on the way. Slowly, it'll show you what kind of activity you like at the end game like Act 2 Bestiary w/ Einhar and Act 4 Delve with Niko.
    The exception to this is the current league mechanic. Every map instance even in act1, it will already lets you engage with it.
    Good luck for tomorrow's stream

    Almost everyone, at least streamers start blind, and every major streamer ie Ben tyty ect says you really should do your first playthrough following a build. I say whatever they have fun with. A lot of people simply won't touch the game if they "need" to follow a build guide on their first character. I was one of those people. It's sometimes more fun to just fail at a game and understand organically why your build doesn't work.

    • @RexZShadow
      @RexZShadow Рік тому +2

      I think really depends, if you're seasoned arpg player blind might not be so bad. But if someone never play arpg before maybe a guide is better. It does vary a lot from person to person though. I remember first time I played poe blind way back during torment league and I got physically hard stuck in act 3 normal. I just died constantly and did no damage lol. Then followed a guide and it was smooth sailing.
      But acts have changed a lot since then and I played through ruthless once and realized you can jank your way through acts pretty hard when I can beat acts with 0L skills lol.

      @@TheAluvisify Considering how many apps and sites you absolutely need to use, if someone doesn't want to look at a build I'm sorry to say but this game is not for them. Even playing SSF, you absolutely need crafting sites to help you craft or you will not be able to complete endgame. You may not agree that someone should have to look outside the game to play it, but this is how POE 1 is structured. The systems needed outside the game is one of the reasons I personally love this game so much.

      @@rhye_guy7717 You're straw-manning a bit there. I never said that new players should never use third party websites or tools to minmax. DM literally is using a third party tool at the beginning of the video.
      The question is about whether or not someone should follow a build guide on their first playthrough. It's perfectly fine to try to make your own build and then look up game mechanics like vendor recipes, skill interactions, and other things that help you understand the game more.
      Not following a build guide isn't the equivalent of not wanting to look up anything about the game at all.

    This game has very few set like items where they are design with each other in mind. The game's mechanics are fusible together so items with similar enough stats will synergize well. The two rings are not made for each other but do play well with each other. This means there is almost never an obvious choice. It truly creates limitless possibilities when an interesting powerful rare item can be used with multiple powerful unique rare items instead of it's set thematic item like d3. While u can use only unique items, it'll be harder to fill in ur stats like resistances and life as those come more often in rare items over unique items which have more creative mechanics with downsides over pure upsides stats. However this mean in the very end game u'd be wanting to replace as many rares as u can with powerful stat uniques, but they made rare items have potential powerful creative stats that only appear in high level items with the right "influence" on them. These "influenced" items come from their specific boss area, which will have powerful but rare stats that with enough can replace all unique items with only rares with these super rare but powerful and creative stats coming from the boss ares. This is very end game and makes crafting ur perfect rare for ur build the best in slot over just generic unique items that are set in place at the design table. U can use uniques with rare items with enough base stats until u can either afford to buy the influenced rare item or to make it ur self with the crafting system.

    The reality is that I WANTED to love D4 so much but once you get to world tier 4 and get all your aspects and ancestral items there is almost zero reason to play it further. Uber Lilith I guess but then what? You are done with the game at level 72 and have to play until 100 to beat one boss. In POE the more you play and more you understand systems you have a ton of uber bosses to work towards that have items that are sometimes trash but some are build defining and are worth a lot. Some builds can be endlessly improved on for as long as you want to play it. You can focus on legion, or heist, or delve, or boss farming or map blasting or whatever you want to do and they are all more fun than nightmare dungeons. You can focus your atlas tree to give you more of the activities you enjoy the most and make those activities better and more rewarding. Admittedly POE has been out for 10 years so it isnt a fair comparison but the replayability of POE compared to D4 is just not even comparable. The initial hurdle of learning the game is what turns some people away but if you take a little time to get the basics down you can map blast and kill some normal bosses and then the more you learn the deeper it gets and the more content that exists. My hope is that the D4 team sees what makes POE so good in the long term and implements those types of systems.

    also if you hover in your skill gems you'll see it's tags. 90% of the time(there are some exceptions) you scale the gem if you scale their tags and for support gems, if you hover into it you'll see a UI that tells you if it works with a skill gem that you equipped via ✅ or check the gem tags

      If following a build guide is essential to play a game, that game is designed poorly. I mean guys literally use xcel worksheets to make builds. They spend more time theory crafting builds than they do playing the game. PoE is a good arpg, but it's overly complex for the sake of being overly complex.

      @@flip_shifty Tbh if you can not play a game blind it is just bad game design. There is absolutely no reason to give new players not the option to respec early. GGG forces players into choosing a build before they even show all skills. Every shit in PoE needs a external source or software. There is a difference between making something complex or making something difficult. And in this case difficult = user unfriendly just to make hardcore players feel special with all the stuff they know about the game (like vendor receipts). I love PoE but do not understand this unnecessary bullshit. Give new player a proper experience and let them respec early to try out gems and combinations. Why is this such a big deal while you have so much freedom in the game? Or make a orb of regret respec the whole skilltree so they can afford it pretty early. in the end you have thousnds of these orbs and do not use it because it does not matter anymore. Also I do not understand why the game does not feature a ingame loot filter creator like last epoch? This thing is insane and would help new players to get an impression of gear and affixes in the game. I really hope they get some of it into poe2. I'm happy they split the games and slow it down again - also make melee combat viable again... because currrently poe is only a vampire survivor most of the time.

    yeah, the skill system in poe does feel way better as you get really noticable upgrades by adding support gems and getting notable passives. in comparison, in d4 my fireball looks and feels and plays exactly the same from when you get it till lvl 100, except for maybe getting the two unique items that slightly change it. but it's literally like 2 support gems in poe ^^ d4 skilltree is badly designed as you do not get upgrades for things you got earlier, when going deeper into the tree imo
