@@rhye_guy7717 You're straw-manning a bit there. I never said that new players should never use third party websites or tools to minmax. DM literally is using a third party tool at the beginning of the video. The question is about whether or not someone should follow a build guide on their first playthrough. It's perfectly fine to try to make your own build and then look up game mechanics like vendor recipes, skill interactions, and other things that help you understand the game more. Not following a build guide isn't the equivalent of not wanting to look up anything about the game at all.
I think you really understood the appeal of PoE in a short span of time. This game gets more and more fun the more you learn about it. Things become clearer, you start to understand synergies and a vast world of possibilities opens up.
This was honestly amazing to watch. I have never really watched anybody go in blind but this was amazing. This is by far the most addicting part time job game I have ever played.
Preach Gaming also did a blind playthrough a while ago it's worth a watch if you are interested in that kind of stuff. I enjoy seeing these streamers go in blind to a game that everyone says you need to watch 20 videos before you start playing and seeing success.
@@ThePhildozer89 I will definitely look into that! I think POE doesn't actually start until after the acts tbh. MAYBE around the 66-70 level range if your build is flowing.
Kalandra was my first official league. I put in 800+ hours on one character and that feeling of progression with every "small" upgrade never goes away. Progression in this game is s tier. You are going to feel it every step of the way. I'll never forget killing maven for the first time. And even managed to kill a few of the uber bosses in my first league. It was a wild ride full of fun and headaches but this game rewards you for the energy you put in to it.
Poe is probably if not one of the best games out. The unlimited progression on your character and the many deferent leagues make you want to play Poe for the next decade or so.
Yeah biggest complaint is they refuse to buff things to have them be able to get to Ubers on their own. Like you need a dedicated build for that and there are so few that are actually good if you don't have 200 div to spend.@@Kuzka_ That and AN modifiers on mobs need to go.

RF Juggernaut is my fav... I actually started playing last season for the 1st time but I did it with full playthrough where dude literally explains whole game for 5 hours :D
FYI the tower defense mode is not the coin ancestors thing, guy in chat was confused. the actual tower defence mode they mentioned at exilecon was called Blight.
No such thing as too much content man. You don't have to utilize every piece of content at once. Just do what you have time for. That's the beauty of it
You hit the nail on the head, why obsess over old league content or the passive tree when you're still learning. It's like trying to build a house from advanced blueprint's, when you really should be building a small shed to learn.
I was able to learn the essentials last league. This is my 2nd and its very worth learning for what this game has to offer. I winged it my first league and while i didnt finish ubers i dont regret it. Excited to see more of this top tier gameplay!
This is absolutely hilarious to me. I played path of exile for 4 years as my main game before I ever found DM when I started playing Raid on my phone after quitting PoE... now 2 years later he's blind reacting to PoE...
I played PoE for like 2 hrs. Decided I didn't have time for it. Decided to play D4 with friends and it was fun until it wasn't anymore. This video convinced me that I need to dive back in. Nice work and I've enjoyed a lot of your other videos as well.
Haha, you had me laughing at "If there's one thing I'm not doing it's building a barbarian around shouts". Trying to find any D4 barbarian builds without shouts is difficult.
I started playing about 2 weeks ago before the new season and then also restarted at the launch of the new season… fun the whole time. Maps is even more fun and I’m still learning
I can’t lie I played PoE like this and had a blast. I didn’t quite get to end game because I ended up playing d4 then I just moved to a diff genre but I was really enjoying PoE. I might come back for new season tbh
This game has very few set like items where they are design with each other in mind. The game's mechanics are fusible together so items with similar enough stats will synergize well. The two rings are not made for each other but do play well with each other. This means there is almost never an obvious choice. It truly creates limitless possibilities when an interesting powerful rare item can be used with multiple powerful unique rare items instead of it's set thematic item like d3. While u can use only unique items, it'll be harder to fill in ur stats like resistances and life as those come more often in rare items over unique items which have more creative mechanics with downsides over pure upsides stats. However this mean in the very end game u'd be wanting to replace as many rares as u can with powerful stat uniques, but they made rare items have potential powerful creative stats that only appear in high level items with the right "influence" on them. These "influenced" items come from their specific boss area, which will have powerful but rare stats that with enough can replace all unique items with only rares with these super rare but powerful and creative stats coming from the boss ares. This is very end game and makes crafting ur perfect rare for ur build the best in slot over just generic unique items that are set in place at the design table. U can use uniques with rare items with enough base stats until u can either afford to buy the influenced rare item or to make it ur self with the crafting system.
I love darth. I too went into Poe blind after D4 took a dump on itself and he’s doing so much better than me hahah. I made it to level 25 before I followed a guide. Then 45 before the new league. And I went semi blind again last night with a totally different build style and am loving it
The reality is that I WANTED to love D4 so much but once you get to world tier 4 and get all your aspects and ancestral items there is almost zero reason to play it further. Uber Lilith I guess but then what? You are done with the game at level 72 and have to play until 100 to beat one boss. In POE the more you play and more you understand systems you have a ton of uber bosses to work towards that have items that are sometimes trash but some are build defining and are worth a lot. Some builds can be endlessly improved on for as long as you want to play it. You can focus on legion, or heist, or delve, or boss farming or map blasting or whatever you want to do and they are all more fun than nightmare dungeons. You can focus your atlas tree to give you more of the activities you enjoy the most and make those activities better and more rewarding. Admittedly POE has been out for 10 years so it isnt a fair comparison but the replayability of POE compared to D4 is just not even comparable. The initial hurdle of learning the game is what turns some people away but if you take a little time to get the basics down you can map blast and kill some normal bosses and then the more you learn the deeper it gets and the more content that exists. My hope is that the D4 team sees what makes POE so good in the long term and implements those types of systems.
for those who are used to D4 and wants to just wing it in POE there's a functioning search bar in the skill tree, atlas tree, npc vendors, stash tab. Please stack resistances cause they work in this game hahahah also if you hover in your skill gems you'll see it's tags. 90% of the time(there are some exceptions) you scale the gem if you scale their tags and for support gems, if you hover into it you'll see a UI that tells you if it works with a skill gem that you equipped via ✅ or check the gem tags good luck guys 👍
@@P4brotagonist Mine was torment, just had ghosts running around every map lol. I got hard suck in act 3 coz I had some random like duelist melee build that did no damage and no def. Strongly recommend checking build guides for league start. Maxroll has a bunch of easy to follow ones. Ziziran is also the best to follow for new players. Take your time its a game not a race, gl 😀.

" Palsteron
If following a build guide is essential to play a game, that game is designed poorly. I mean guys literally use xcel worksheets to make builds. They spend more time theory crafting builds than they do playing the game. PoE is a good arpg, but it's overly complex for the sake of being overly complex.
@@flip_shifty Tbh if you can not play a game blind it is just bad game design. There is absolutely no reason to give new players not the option to respec early. GGG forces players into choosing a build before they even show all skills. Every shit in PoE needs a external source or software. There is a difference between making something complex or making something difficult. And in this case difficult = user unfriendly just to make hardcore players feel special with all the stuff they know about the game (like vendor receipts). I love PoE but do not understand this unnecessary bullshit. Give new player a proper experience and let them respec early to try out gems and combinations. Why is this such a big deal while you have so much freedom in the game? Or make a orb of regret respec the whole skilltree so they can afford it pretty early. in the end you have thousnds of these orbs and do not use it because it does not matter anymore. Also I do not understand why the game does not feature a ingame loot filter creator like last epoch? This thing is insane and would help new players to get an impression of gear and affixes in the game. I really hope they get some of it into poe2. I'm happy they split the games and slow it down again - also make melee combat viable again... because currrently poe is only a vampire survivor most of the time.
Just need for it to be complete, I played it when multiplayer patch drops and it was fun through story. But then story like suddenly cuts off and idk I didn't feel it with how the end game kinda map system was at the time. Although might be because I felt so cucked on the story just cutting off at a important part lol.

@@RexZShadow I'm actually just fully getting into poe right now. I've got like 250 hour's logged over the last few years from me just trying the game and wanting to get into it but then giving up lol but POE 2 got me excited and now I'm following a guide and fully expecting to make it to endgame. For me, LE would be perfect to scratch that more modern ARPG itch when I'm in places where I dont really have internet like my long bus rides to and from work (Steam Deck coming in super clutch in these cases).
@@TheZurc1996 Cool hope you get there! I'll be real I have like over 2k hour clocked in like its 2k on steam but I stop using steam like 2-3 years ago lol. and I honestly don't even do much end game. For me its the builds that interest me so I always want to try fun looking builds that don't cost an arm and leg lolol. but really do want to try push some actual bosses and see.
Playing for the first time now and also playing it blind. Almost done with the campaign (tutorial) and will see how bad my build is. But its my build and i really liked the process of reading every gem, trying different support gems, etc etc.
yeah, the skill system in poe does feel way better as you get really noticable upgrades by adding support gems and getting notable passives. in comparison, in d4 my fireball looks and feels and plays exactly the same from when you get it till lvl 100, except for maybe getting the two unique items that slightly change it. but it's literally like 2 support gems in poe ^^ d4 skilltree is badly designed as you do not get upgrades for things you got earlier, when going deeper into the tree imo
"D4 has too little content and PoE too much, can someone make something in the middle?" so... Last Epoch / Grim Dawn / Wolcen? Ill stick with PoE since i like the complexity

It's so great to see you having fun, this game is a blast. Can't wait to see your progress! :)
You see. Blizzard is in the business of selling copies of games and micro transactions. Grinding Gear Games is in the business of selling you fun.
I think you really understood the appeal of PoE in a short span of time. This game gets more and more fun the more you learn about it. Things become clearer, you start to understand synergies and a vast world of possibilities opens up.
Hahahahahaha. 1.21 and I'm dying.. lol. The first time you open the skill tree is amazing.
The direct message at 4:52 is priceless.
Blight is tower defense mode and it's one of the most fun tower defense games at that. Great loot too.
How do you know he didn't watch a single video in his private time between the streams or recording the videos? :)
I love the Me-Lee builds u FI
Poe is probably if not one of the best games out. The unlimited progression on your character and the many deferent leagues make you want to play Poe for the next decade or so.
Wellll.... The harder content you want to do the more limits you'll have, as not everything is going to be endgame viable ;p
Yeah biggest complaint is they refuse to buff things to have them be able to get to Ubers on their own. Like you need a dedicated build for that and there are so few that are actually good if you don't have 200 div to spend.@@Kuzka_ That and AN modifiers on mobs need to go.
@@Kuzka_ everything is endgame viable with enough currency sunk into it xd, albeit some are borderline terrible even with mega amounts of divines sunk into it, but still able to do most stuff
@@conorhennell2623 Yes, been trying to make mirror+blink arrow minions work for many leagues now, but pinnacle bosses pose a big problem
i like when he says its got alot of depth and someone commented "finish the campaign =)" true!
My favorite part last night as new player myself that hasn't finished campaign yet you made a profound statement you said at the 2 hour and 30 min mark you said you learn your build to do the maps that are good for your build and I was oh shit that makes sense
EVERY, TIME, that damn skill tree reaction never fucking fails for any streamer.
Can't wait to see more :) Glad you're having fun!
Something In The Middle??? Play Grim Dawn!
Yes! He should do that! The game does get alot better after 15 hours tough.
Grim Dawn is great
Or Last Epoch. Both are solid games for sure 😀😀😀
RF Juggernaut is my fav... I actually started playing last season for the 1st time but I did it with full playthrough where dude literally explains whole game for 5 hours :D
He's still in acts!
FYI the tower defense mode is not the coin ancestors thing, guy in chat was confused. the actual tower defence mode they mentioned at exilecon was called Blight.
I love when new players look at the skill tree for the first time and the reaction they have :D
"can someone make something in the middle"
Last Epoch: "👋"
No such thing as too much content man. You don't have to utilize every piece of content at once. Just do what you have time for. That's the beauty of it
You hit the nail on the head, why obsess over old league content or the passive tree when you're still learning.
It's like trying to build a house from advanced blueprint's, when you really should be building a small shed to learn.
I was able to learn the essentials last league. This is my 2nd and its very worth learning for what this game has to offer. I winged it my first league and while i didnt finish ubers i dont regret it. Excited to see more of this top tier gameplay!
POE is so easy that you constantly have dopamine rushes
And then, youre done with the story and you see the atlas and the shit that you can do with it. Enjoy what's coming, mate!
This is absolutely hilarious to me. I played path of exile for 4 years as my main game before I ever found DM when I started playing Raid on my phone after quitting PoE... now 2 years later he's blind reacting to PoE...
"Am i supposed to know what the fuck is going on?" lol that pretty much sums up the game , also was funny when you first opened the skill tree 😂
Fun to watch this vid, man. Top tier banter.
I started playing about 2 weeks ago before the new season and then also restarted at the launch of the new season… fun the whole time. Maps is even more fun and I’m still learning
The game in the middle is Last Epoch. Hands down it’s catching the D4 players that tried PoE and were overwhelmed. It’s so good
I can’t lie I played PoE like this and had a blast. I didn’t quite get to end game because I ended up playing d4 then I just moved to a diff genre but I was really enjoying PoE. I might come back for new season tbh
The blind call was such a good idea
“Which of these is the most dopamine”. Lol. Story of my life.
for those who are used to D4 and wants to just wing it in POE there's a functioning search bar in the skill tree, atlas tree, npc vendors, stash tab. Please stack resistances cause they work in this game hahahah
also if you hover in your skill gems you'll see it's tags. 90% of the time(there are some exceptions) you scale the gem if you scale their tags and for support gems, if you hover into it you'll see a UI that tells you if it works with a skill gem that you equipped via ✅ or check the gem tags
good luck guys 👍
"Can someone make something in the middle?""
"I need something in the middle". Last Epoch
It's easy to forget your first season of POE and how overwhelmed you were by the skill tree and all the gems. It gets way easier.
It was Harbinger for me. I had NO idea what the harbingers were doing besides having weird names, being immune, and fucking me up.
@@P4brotagonist Mine was torment, just had ghosts running around every map lol. I got hard suck in act 3 coz I had some random like duelist melee build that did no damage and no def. Then looked up a guide for like a glacial casscade witch and was easily sailing. Then farmed merciless harbor a bunch did few maps and quit XD
@@RexZShadow for me it was abyss league. Now i remembered how i got hit by massive wall of info lol. But it was very exciting
Skilled arpg gamer playing Poe blind, very fun to watch
bro has more MTX than character levels
I love Poe I switched from D4 two weeks ago and haven’t looked back. I love it.
"I dont play video games to do a lot of reading" oh boy
Never played POE but watching this makes me want to LOGIN, i was worried at how daunting it might be to play but this actually makes me wanna play ( downloading it rn) good video 👍
Strongly recommend checking build guides for league start. Maxroll has a bunch of easy to follow ones. Ziziran is also the best to follow for new players. Take your time its a game not a race, gl 😀.
Welcome on board, exile
I just come by to drop an upvote because your awesome and more people should know about you
There are a few streamers that I follow for indie games. Their suggestions are about 80/20 up my alley.
" if u still wanna go ahead and try it blind thats totally fine , just know that u're basically a toddler in a maths class.I point this out so strongly because i know a lot of ppl who didn't follow a build guide and then just quit and said POE is not for them ,when later they started with a build guide and then they were: - Yeah this game is actually pretty fun. " Palsteron
If following a build guide is essential to play a game, that game is designed poorly. I mean guys literally use xcel worksheets to make builds. They spend more time theory crafting builds than they do playing the game. PoE is a good arpg, but it's overly complex for the sake of being overly complex.

its funny seing how many people cant contain themself and wants to tell him what to do before he even started the game
As someone who played only on builds, I am curious to see how far you get, good luck
I went blind & completed the game even did ascendancy up until lvl 75 or something, end game on the other hand tore my ass up 😂
its so easy once you know the passive tree and which gems are good
but almost impossible on blind first playthrough, thats why its such a good game.
He cleared the campaign and was playing around in tier 1 maps. Also crushed the new league mechanic.
glad you are having fun :D
Fucking KFC and pc gaming. Just imagining the grease on the keyboard is hurting
Last Epoch is the "something in the middle" game you're looking for.
Just need for it to be complete, I played it when multiplayer patch drops and it was fun through story. But then story like suddenly cuts off and idk I didn't feel it with how the end game kinda map system was at the time. Although might be because I felt so cucked on the story just cutting off at a important part lol.
Completely agree. Last Epoch would probably be the game I would be playing right now if it were finished. It's the perfect right in the middle game. @@RexZShadow
@@TheZurc1996 For me I really have to see. I have already gotten used to poe over the years so for me the overkill of everything is great, its just more content other games can't compete with. But I'm sucker for builds so likely be cool builds i want to try on Last Epoch. Also its not like I play poe 24/7 at most like 4 week into a new league so there plenty of time for something else lol.
I made it to T16 maps and did some of the bosses but never done any uber and stuff. For me its the builds that interest me so I always want to try fun looking builds that don't cost an arm and leg lolol. but really do want to try push some actual bosses and see.
It has been great watching you go blind, while I have also been going blind. These have been some of the best streams of your career! Keep it up!
Lost Epoch could be considered somewhere in the middle between D4 and PoE
0:10 huh he sais that while having 2016 minotaur set such an actor.
1:20 there is a game in the middle. Last Epoch
we need more of that
Love you man, you're so refreshing.
"D4 has too little content and PoE too much, can someone make something in the middle?" so... Last Epoch / Grim Dawn / Wolcen? Ill stick with PoE since i like the complexity
"Ah yes, even more text" - POE
Something in the middle you say? Last Epoch is the AARPG for you.
"Can someone make something in the middle" Yes, it's called Last Epoch
Its refreshing to see someone actually reading the gems. Not like my friends 😂
Excited to see you trying POE. I hope you enjoy your stay!

"Something in the middle" - is gonna be Last Epoch once 1.0 ships!
grim dawn is a great medium between poe and diablo games in terms of difficulty/mechanics
Agreed, I love Grim Dawn. Probably my favorite arpg but I do enjoy PoE too.
He said, “Can someone make something in the middle?” Why are people not playing last Epoch?! That’s your answer!
to answer your question at min 1 - the middle - "Last epoch"
Damage, damage, damage. Wrong, you're supposed to take health, health and health.
Something in the middle: Grim Dawn

Something in the middle you say? Last Epoch ;).
last epoch is the middle game. you choose your skills like diablo sort of and then your skills have passive trees like PoE but they are small

This is why I gravitated to Last epoch. It's a great middleground between PoE and Diablo in my opinion.
