    My dog is fighting it at the moment, severe inflammation, please pray that he goes through it 🙏🙏🙏 he is home on IV fluids. My dog is older and has severe pancreatitis inflammation so i am aware its gonna take longer to recover, 1 week fighting it already.

      Fasting will help and let your dog,s pancreas to rest and try to heal itself. However, your dog will lose a lot of weight by not eating, possibly dangerous to his life as well. Try giving him pure C8 oil (bulletproof brain octane mct oil) to supplement him for not eating. Any food, especially fat will put great burden on the pancreas, except C8 oil. Your dog can absorb C8 oil directly without triggering any enzyme from his pancreas. Get the pure C8 one, not mixture of C8 and C10.

    Thank you for your video I hadn’t realized this could be an issue I will keep an eye on my Luna for signs as she also eats poop unfortunately she was rescued from crated life 23/24 hours now she’s been with me for years she has ibs too I think from crating eating her own waste in the crate etc . She’s a beautiful long haired pure bred German Shepard we love her very much she’s turned a corner after being constipated after eating road poop (lord have mercy ! ) but she’s picked up as you say lol not pancreatitis symptoms I was noticing constipation was worried about a blockage . She’s 9 years old now I’ve had her 8 years now never seen a crate again dog parks great diet everything great except eating poop lol but I’m grateful for outside source info from other pet parents . 😊🇨🇦

    Just lost my Bedlington today. Im absolutley heartbroken, he was 13 years 6months old. He was diagnosed with acute pancreatitis and was inso much pain. It also affected his liver, was lethargic and srugling to breath. His body temperature rose to 40.5 which is dangerously high. Thanks for the video highlighting the drastic consequences of this condition. Please all you doggy lovers out there take heed of this advice

      Sorry to hear that mate. Somehow a thumbs up feels wrong in response to that, but I'm definitely thinking about you today. Losing your dog, no matter how old they are is always hard. I lost my first 31 years ago and I still think about him. All I can say is hang in there friend, it never goes away but it does get easier to wear with time.

      halo. i hv pom age 14y.o this dec 2024 (which make her 13 right now), she has been diagnosed w/pancreatic sinced 2020. our vet did the blood test specific for the pancreatic (cPLI), and it came back positive. i did it twice at that time the first 3 months, just bcoz i hope that would be the short problem w/her pancreas and not the real pancreatic problem. but it's also positive, so my pom is having pancreatitis. but i did good to maintain her health. her vet gave her Lypex (which she now consumed everyday for the rest of her life), and her food is now limited to only certain types. no longer bacon, snack, meaty. if she happened to eat one of those food, her pancreatic is trigger. and she will spent her day puking and not feeling good. you might want to discussed it more w/your vet. for her daily main food i give her RC gastro. but when she's puking (usually bcoz she's eaten 1 of the forbidden food) i gave her RC gastro low fat. and for her nausea the vet told me to give her polysilene or sulcrafate (depend on whether her poop is also kinda black/traced of blood) this is her first aid bfore i bring her to the vet. ussualy she bounced back just in 1 day. as long as i rest her (not feeding her until she seems settle and not puking anymore) and give her the low fat rc little by little. in my cased, when she's puking, she also drink water after. so she's never dehydrated. but i also monitored her water intake and how many times she's puking. if she's puking like more than 4times, then i bring her to the vet right away. hope your dog get better soon and after

    My dog was just diagnosed with acute pancreatitis and was the sickest I’ve ever seen. She’s on meds but still hasn’t fully recovered. I can’t afford another $3k vet visit and not sure what to do.

    • @dogdadoutdoors
      @dogdadoutdoors  Рік тому +2

      So sorry to hear that Nicole, its a horrible and very worrying time. The best advice I can give you is if you can afford to consult your vet, set that up and explain your finance constraints. I know in the UK sometimes they have payment plans and they may also be able to offer some low cost treatments that can help.
      For example when my Bolt had pancreatitis, in addition to being omitted and being put on an IV drip and the initial testing to diagnose it which were the most expensive parts of the overall bill, they also prescribed paracetamol for the pain and Omeprazole to help protect their stomach which are both relatively inexpensive. There are also anti-sickness injections which can help stop them getting dehydrated which are cheaper than admitting and putting on an IV drip. Don't rule out the cost of the vet until you have spoken to them is what I'm trying to say.
      You can also help by making sure they stay hydrated by encouraging them to drink. Drink is more important than food in the short-term.
      If you boil chicken and serve half serve 1 part chicken and 2 parts rice, that should help them settle down as you need to avoid fat and only have moderate protein. Raw is a really bad idea for pancreatitis. Keep the water you boil the chicken in and give that to your dog to drink once its cooled. It usually really encourages them to drink. you can get mixes from the vet too that do the same thing.
      Also, have you thought about GoFundMe? A lady local to me was facing a £10k vet bill after her dog was run over and she couldn't afford it. She managed to raise the funds through GoFundMe when she posted on local dog groups on Facebook.
      Finally, if it helps you sleep I had never seen Bolt that sick either, he was awful, he didn't eat for about a week but is fighting fit again now, we just keep him on weight management food to avoid fat now. Otherwise he is all back to normal.
      Let me know how it goes for you and I wish you the absolute best luck. 2 sets of paws and 1 set of fingers crossed wishing you good luck.

      The best thing to do is to let her pancreas to rest. Any oral intake will put burden on her pancreas, so fasting might help. However, fasting for too long can be dangerous too. There is a type of fat called C8 MCT oil might be able to give your dog calories without putting any burden on her pancreas. Normally, eating fat is absolutely forbidden doing pancreatitis except this C8 oil. Get the pure C8 bulletproof brain Octane MCT oil (not C8 mixed with C10). Your dog can absorb the C8 directly without needing enzyme to break it down from the pancreas.
