I'm one who will testify to the glorious results of giving up carbohydrates. I'm someone who is hypersensitive to carbs. I'm 76 and a year ago I thought I was dying. I have been primarily carnivore now for 5 months. I have lost 60 lb, I'm no longer diabetic, I'm no longer on high blood pressure medicine, I can wear clothes again, and most of all I'm looking forward to the day when I will hold my great grandchild in my arms. I have a 19-year-old granddaughter who is in college and her dream is to marry and have her own family. In my dream is to be there to enjoy it with her. And now I can. I can promise you those cravings will leave. It only takes a month or two of discipline and then you will not want it again. Nothing beats the taste of a grilled steak, fresh cheeses, scrambled eggs and bacon for breakfast, and I never miss the foods that were killing me. Please listen to him. You can save your life

I went from a southern US diet(fried foods, biscuits, bread, loads of bread and nut fried foods, soda, sweet tea), quit listening to my Govt paid dietician, and went Keto for 2 months, and carnivore for 9 months, then back to Keto for 3 months, then a nominal low carb diet, reversed my fatter liver disease, diabetes is in check, and now I eat 2-3 small meals (less than 1lb of food per meal.) I drink mostly water, brewed tea with no sugar, and coffee with whole cream and sometimes grassfed butter. Since I eat less, I buy better quality and still save money. I have gone from almost 320 and currently sit at 242.

I have been keto for 2years and love it and lost 135lbs and put my diabetes into remission. My 34year old son who is also an athlete maintained he needed his carbs but last year he developed Lymphoma (he responded well to treatment) and was on a lot of steroids and put on 10lbs I advised him that just because he is off treatment the weight won't just drop off. Ten months later he decided to drop his carbs to 70grams a day. The weight dropped off and he is feeling better than before his diagnosis and his immune system is responding well. He is still running but no longer eating biscuits, bread and associated carbs including pasta. He said he thought you needed carbs to be able to run but he is running faster now by cutting a good proportion of them out.

I have three semesters of Nutrition from a Tier One university. I was taught carbs were totally healthy…just don’t eat fat or much meat. That was a fear placed in me a millions other people. Remember the Food Pyramid? It’s destroyed my and many people’s health in this country. There were many books published, television shows, etc. that promoted high carb diets. So there are people who thought they were doing the right thing. There should be someone or institution held responsible.

What would be interesting would be to stop the Keto for a bit, eat a somewhat more standard Western diet with moderately low carbs, and then checking your normal BG/A1C.
Depending on how damaged your system is/was, it would be interesting to see if the Pancreas or signaling has returned closer to baseline.

I‘ve been standing strong and not wavering from my very low carb, clean Keto nutritional intake for over 6 yrs. Work buddies who have had heart attacks now with pacemakers sit in the breakroom eating chocolate-pralines and washing them down with sugary soft drinks 😳 I can‘t stand to watch. I‘ve spread the news about how much my health has improved through diet … crickets. Even the younger guys have health issues and always eat pasta, bread, potatoes, rice, microwave meals, sugary snacks. It‘s almost unbareable just watching them hurt themselves. They don‘t even realize they are addicted to these foods, just like I once was. One doc I like always says „you‘ve got to have the why that makes you cry“ before you will change your behaviour. That‘s what it took for me and then got lucky to find Dr. Ekberg 🤓 and I knew from the very first video, this man is telling me the truth! Thanks Doc, you‘re saving so many people 🙏

As long as we're using how many people would die in an airline crash (or several, or annually) as a comparison, it should be noted that if air travel were suspended, or even just if people decided to drive cross-country instead of flying, traveling by car is much more deadly than by plane.
Both my parents were diagnosed with diabetes late in life, but I don't recall whether or how it was treated at the time. I'm in my 60's. By trial and error I ended up finding out I'm sensitive to grains, beans, and nightshades, so I've eliminated them from my diet and don't serve them in my household. I prepare all meals from basic ingredients - meat/poultry/fish, fresh or fermented vegetables, nuts/seeds. My boyfriend accepted this well, and his digestion improved. We're both losing weight without restriction. He is addicted to snacking, so I make and keep cheese crisps, home-roasted nuts, and chicken cracklings as high protein snacks.

A person can be the only one on the highway/road for miles around, and still end up dead .... so there's that. Some people die trying to pet a bison. Some people die playing with their pet Black mamba/cobra. Some people die shortly after just uttering four words .... "here, hold my beer".

    • @ww7116
      @ww7116 6 місяців тому +5

Automobiles aren't more deadly it's just that statistically there are more deaths per year than from airplane crashes. There are very few deaths attributed to poking a grizzly bear but that doesn't mean it's not a deadly activity. If everyone traveled by airplane as much as they do by car, there would be more deaths by airplane statistically. Statistics are a measure of incident frequency, not the inherent risk of danger. If a plane stalls, everyone dies. If a car stalls, you pull over. Which one is more dangerous now?

Of course your point is quite valid but the point of concern here is how our mind reacts to a particular situation. When risk of danger appears quite slow and far away in time and space our mind is not startled. But when the risk is sudden, imminent or potentially absolute(as in case of aeroplane where there is no chance of survival) then it senses urgency and reacts accordingly. But People who believe in theory of fate do not
      bother much.

The numbers of morbidly obese walking around drinking diet sodas is mind boggling. Even if you explain why it foils weight loss, it doesn’t matter. It’s addictive. They’re addicts. It helped me explain to my 87 year old mother-in-law what I have been trying to do with the changes I have been making for the past 3 years (I'm 60 yrs old, I lost 45 lbs and changed my A1C). I appreciate the mention of food addiction issues even after I fix the insulin resistance issues. I am one that will never be able to go back to the foods that trigger my binging. Having you say it helped her better hear what I have been trying to tell her about keeping certain foods out of the house.
At the end of the video she said: "I admire you! Good for you!"

Yep. I first found you about a year ago while I was researching causes for fluid retention. I knew to be careful not to eat too much salt, but the diuretic in my blood pressure medication wasn't effective anymore, and through you, I discovered that sugar could cause it too. I'd never heard that before. I didn't want to just go to the doctor because she was a pill-pusher, and would up that dosage instead of helping to educate me, or even look for the root cause. Now, I was never one to indulge in candy or cakes where the sugar is obvious. Plus, I knew myself enough to know that if I bought or made that stuff, that I would binge on it until it was gone. I have the same issue with chips, crackers (all of the high, simple carb, processed foods), but I hadn't eliminated them from my diet. So your channel and other similar channels enlightened me to all of the hidden sugar/carbs in processed foods. My husband and I changed our diets, and have continued to refine them as we learn more and more. He's lost 70 lbs. I've lost 80 and still have more to go. I didn't know if all of the other health claims of eating right and using intermittent fasting were true, but the fluid retention is gone as well. I found a new doctor, and went for a DO, because they're known to look at the total body and get to root causes rather than just throwing meds at symptoms. It took awhile to find one that was accepting new patients (shortages of doctors is a serious problem in the US). And, I'm happy to report that with these changes ALL of what you've been teaching us is absolutely true. We have a phone app with our health system that lets us see all of our interactions, blood test results, etc. It had improved over the past year to show us a 10 year history of those results in graphs. I was shocked to see that I'd tested as pre-diabetic on 3 occasions in the past, and was never told. I'm now in the normal range (and I'm still overweight, but I continue to lose about 5 lbs/month to get to that healthy weight range). The same holds true for my cholesterol levels, AND my previous tests stated that I had a fatty liver. Those are all now normal too. Again, I didn't know any of these issues existed at the time. I don't know if she just thought that because I was so obese that I didn't/wouldn't care, or if she was simply incompetent, or what, but it took educating myself and turning this new way of eating into a true lifestyle to create these improvements. My new doctor did a double-take and asked me what I was doing when he saw the weight change at my initial appointment, so I told him. The other great thing? All of my tests coming back as normal, allowed me to come off of all prescription medications. All I take now is a good multi-vitamin. So THANK YOU, Dr Ekberg. While I knew I wasn't healthy, I was unwittingly on that plane about to crash. You have helped me change that course. My husband and I couldn't be more grateful for the education that you provide to the world.

Very important topic, too bad too many people dismiss or downplay the gravity of the situation.

Thank you, You have given me targets to improve my health. I am trying to greatly reduce my sugar intake, in order to reduce my insulin resistance. My carbs are mostly bread and oats.

In the PNW we look out for Big Foot in addition to bears ;)
I, for one, would appreciate straight talk from my doctor but she never recognized or addressed with me my signs of early insulin resistance/ metabolic disease. I teach 5-9 dance fitness classes a week yet I was putting on belly fat. Clearly, something was not right. I appreciate your videos Dr. Ekberg because by shifting to 18/6 and reducing carbs I've lost almost 15 pounds, belly fat and seen other symptoms diminish.

People think juice is healthy but it's liquid sugar. Most Fruits are loaded with sugar also. Some berries are healthy( blueberries) but strawberries, not so much.
