    just got my zastava m48. This video is perfect. You are a professional. My m48 was drilled for a scope right where the emblem was. I capped the wholes with screws. Kinda sucks but the rest of the rifle looks mint. Haven’t shot it yet. Barrel has a mirrored polish with clear rifling and I cant see pitting with a flashlight but I dont own a barrel scope. Bolt and chamber has some cosmoline on it still( very small amount)

      I just purchased one of these rifles. Mine also was drilled in the same spot. Is it necessary to cap it?

    Thank you so much. My only worry is that spring flying off, but that’s what the towel/rag is for. And maybe a clamp.

      @worldwarguy459  2 роки тому

      The towel is used so that the clamp does not damage the stock. The spring should not fly off.

    still remember my first time to disassemble the M48 bolt, it was a nightmaire...my safety stuck on the left which was the firing position and no way to flip it back...and then I de-cocked the bolt by accident...

      @@benigan4232 Yes I did, you have to polish the safety a little to get it work. And to cock the bolt without the receiver, you have to find some tough edge to do that. Both have detailed instructions in youtube

    I’v got one of these wonderful rifles which was in an excellent condition. The bolt seemed to be little unstable and loose while it is in the rifle but it shoot really nicely. I haven’t use use m48 before so i just wanted to know if this is normal or not!
    Thanks

      Does your bolt match the receiver? I had a Spanish m1916 Mauser and all the bolts are mismatched to the receivers and they’re known for being a bit sloppy as a result. If the bolt and receiver match I’d seek a professional opinion to be on the safe side. If there’s no signs of excessive headspace it should be fine, but I’m not a professional, just an enthusiast. So take what I say with a grain of salt. Hope this helps.

    • @thereal7490
      @thereal7490 23 дні тому

      @@Olewis1995 yes it does match. In fact all the serial and assembly numbers are matching. I asked a friend about this and he said it is normal to have it in m48 mauser. Anyways I’m very grateful for your opinion and advice.
      Thank you.

    Many of Mauser K98 was a ambushed by Yugoslav army. Thay have markings Preduzece 44 , clear German markings, write new Yugo and bolt modify, call it M48 and deploy again to Yugoslav partisans

    Taking those barrel bands off at the end are a pain in the butt on some rifles ... on my rc 1936 k98 get a vice and wedge it off , but my dot 43 I had no trouble at all but it had late war parts ... you gonna reenact with that m48 ?

    • @gaveagringo
      @gaveagringo 3 роки тому

      The good news is that one's only very rarely got to remove the barrel and all from the stock. Assuming that it's not coated in cosmoline or has a damaged stock, a decent K98 or M48 will be very happy with simply removing the bolt, cleaning the barrel, and cleaning and maintaining the bolt assembly as necessary. For the record, one can use woodworking clamps to assist in removing the bands and stuff. For the sight hoods, I use piston ring expanders :-)

    • @patrickm946
      @patrickm946 3 роки тому

      @@gaveagringo I just take a part bolt and clean the barrel I’m not going thru all that trouble to clean it plus I baby my rifles ... all that really needs to be cleaned is the bolt and barrel ... only time I take a stock off is if I have to or when I’m cleaning a stock also I clean my stocks up when I get them a linseed oil and a light wax to seal ... sight hoods I never messed with bc I never had to take one off or put on on ... I have a early pattern k98 they don’t have sight hoods , and my late pattern has it hood.... they pain in the ass thing is shooting corrosive ammo bc you got to clean that bore good after every time
